Tionese, Columi and Rakata armors are a type of gear in Star Wars: The Old Republic that are part of the high-level gearing tracks at endgame. They have different stats, and are designed to make your character stronger at level 80, however there are some really cool looks available cosmetically you can collect and they also have an interesting history as they were originally available at the launch of the game, and then were retired for almost ten years before making a return in the sixth expansion.

How to Get Tionese, Columi and Rakata Gear
The Tionese, Columi and Rakata Gear armors are all part of the level 80 gearing system, so you can only start earning them at level 80. When the 7,0 expansion launched, you could originally only get them from operations – Tionese was from Story Mode operations and has a green-border around the item, Columi was from Veteran Mode operations and has a blue border, and Rakata was only from the hardest operations, Master Mode operations, and has a purple border. Each boss would randomly drop one of the pieces depending on its difficulty levels. You could then upgrade the gear using the OP-1 Currency, which at the time you could only get from Operations.
OP-1 Catalyst
In Update 7.2, the developers added a vendor that sells these pieces directly, and you can now purchase them with the OP-1 currency without ever stepping foot into an Operation. In addition, you can earn the OP-1 currency through almost any level 80 activity in the game, by exchanging currencies you earn from activities like Heroics or Flashpoints up for the valuable OP-1 Catalysts, in addition to them still dropping directly from Operations.
To learn more about gearing up at level 80 and earning or exchanging for OP-1 Catalysts, visit the Level 80 Gearing Guide.
If you are looking to earn these armors not to gear up, but instead because you like the look of them, be aware that they change appearances on Republic and Imperial side. They are legacy-bound though, so if you manage to get one on the opposite faction or on another character, you can send it over or transfer it through your legacy bank!
History
The fan-hat and oven-mitts look was the pinnacle of gearing back in the day for the Jedi Consular.
The Rakata, Columi and Tionese armors were first released as part of the launch of the game – they were the high-level armors you could get at level 50, which was the max at the time. They had different stats and names than the ones we have now, but are the exacty same looks. The old versions were also Binds-on-Pickup, so you couldn’t share them between characters. Some players may have these older versions in their banks still from 2011! These sets were retired in early 2013, when the second expansion came out and a new set of end-game armor for level 55 was released. Most of these “looks”, or at least these color variations, were unavailable until they returned in the 7.0 expansion!
