SWTOR Crimson Fang Uprising Guide

Crimson Fang is an Uprising in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and is like a short, story-light Flashpoint with three bosses and a few surprises including the ability to bring a desert pet along for the fight. Crimson Fang comes in three different difficulties: Story. Veteran, and Master, and is meant to be done with a group of four at level 70+. In general, the Story Mode can be completed with 2 decent players and their companions, but you’ll likely want to take along 3 or 4 players for the more difficult modes.

For the most part, you don’t really need a guide for Uprisings unless your group is struggling with a specific boss, especially on Master Mode, or you want to find the secret hidden agent or learn about the bonus achievement for protecting Whisper. Uprisings are meant to be very accessible and short, fun, run-and-gun missions.

How to Start

All Uprisings start at the glowing blue table in the Combat Training section of the Republic or Imperial Fleet. You can also enter the Groupfinder for Veteran Mode, just keep in mind if you filter for just Crimson Fang, you won’t be eligible for the bonus groupfinder rewards for running a random Uprising.

Once you have picked up an Uprising, left-click the icon of a shuttle in your quest log to travel to the Uprising.

Difficulty Modes

  • Story Mode: Easiest mode, designed for four players but likely doable with 2 or more decent players in any roles and their companions.
    • Solo: I think I had a hard time even getting past the first boss as a damage character, but was able to do it on a tank character who was level 80, well-geared, and had a Rank 50 companion.
  • Veteran Mode: Middle difficulty but not that much harder, designed for four players but likely doable with 2 or more decent players in any roles and their companions
  • Master Mode: Quite difficult mode, most groups will need a full four players, including 1 healer, 1 tank and 2 damage players. Very competent groups might be able to do it with 3 players and one companion. Your team should be decently geared, understand their class and role, and be ready to do some mechanics and stay out of bad stuff on the ground.

Crimson Fang Power-Ups

While running Crimson Fang, keep you eyes open for glowing blue crates with powerups inside. In Crimson Fang, they can also look like glowing blue weapons lockers. To open a crate, you can right-click it, then walk over the item it reveals.

Once you’re carrying a power-up, you’ll get a temporary ability to use it, and you can get up to one of each kind. These crates and lockers will be hidden throughout the Uprising.

You can also right-click fuel tanks to explode them, hurting nearby enemies.

Boss 1: Jor “Oneshot” Mesok

Jor “Oneshot” Mesok the first boss is right away in the Uprising. You can stealth past him / up to him, but you need to fight him for the Uprising, or the next door will not open.

There are three medpacs kinda very nearby – one under the ramp platform and one to the far right coming down the ramp, and one to the right of the bosses. There are usually three medpacs hidden near every boss fight.

Jor will jump up high once the fight starts – you can’t hurt him up there due to his shield.

Jor will shoot you from up high with these yellow arrows. You can stop him from shooting you by breaking his line of site.

In the first location he goes to, you can break his line of site by hiding in the boxes directly below him.

When he moves the second time, you can avoid him by breaking his line-of-sight by going into the “T” part of the room where he can’t see you. (red x is safe location, see map below)

Jor has a special mechanic. Although many enemies will appear, you need to defeat the Mercenary Cannoneer.

These terminals are shielded to start.

When you defeat waves of enemies including the Mercenary Cannoneer, red text will pop up on the screen saying the Ventilation Controller’s Shield Has Depleted.

When it does, you can right-click these previously-shielded terminals. The will be glowing blue and have a green arrow pointing at them.

Later in the fight, Jor has a large red circle attack all around him, get out of it, as it can hurt quite a bit.

Master Mode Tips

  • The fight is mostly the same in Master Mode, everything just hits harder!
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

Boss 2: Takkan Russco

The boss is immune while the smaller enemies are out, so kill them first.

Get out of the bigger orange circles called Death From Above as soon as possible, as they hurt quite a bit.

Later in the fight he will start doing purple circles – the purple circle will follow a random player, then a few seconds later drop onto the ground as a blue lightning circle to be avoided.

Master Mode Tips

  • This fight is mostly the same in Master Mode.
  • When fighting this boss, be spread out, so you are less likely to all get hit by the random player targeted by Death from Above, which hurts quite a bit in Master Mode.
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

Boss 3: KT-55 and PR-98

This fight is a very simple swap between the two enemies – attack the one that does not have an orange shield circling around it. There will be red text on the screen and an audio cue when the shield swaps between KT-55 and PR-98, and you can see the orange or blue shield around the droids body to know which one you shouldn’t attack.

There will be many other enemies that show up throughout the fight as well.

Master Mode Tips

  • Stay out of the circle left behind by the Malfunctioning droids.
  • Split up your team between the unshielded boss and the additional enemies that show up throughout the fight.
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

Lasers

You and your team will need to avoid the lasers on the floor by running around them.

If anyone from your team is struggling, they can jump along the edge on the far left to safely avoid most of the lasers.

Bonus: Swift and Silent and Alem “Whisper” Reesus

When you enter the cantina area, the room will not be hostile, unless you attack the only enemy in the room who is attacking a friendly character named Whisper. If you help Whisper, it will cause the whole cantina to fight you.

Once you save him, he will start walking forward and aggro anything including bosses in his path, so don’t fall behind!

Keeping him alive will earn you an achievement and a decoration.

Achievement – Observe and Report: Crimson Fang

There is a special achievement called Observe and Report: Crimson Fang to have found the agent sent to observe your performance in the Crimson Fang uprising. There is no reward, but he’s fun to find!

The Agent is hidden up in the rafters – you need to find the well-hidden grapple hook point that is up in the sky before the final boss. This is located in the area after the Cantina, but before the final boss, on the step called “Locate the Crimson Fang Leader”.

It is kind of near the medcenter, and looks like a glowing blue box in the sky you can right-click. It’s a little glitchy, so you may need to try it a few times and at different angles until it actually puts you up on the rafters properly.

Once you are up top, run along the pipes, then jump down to the slightly lower pipes to find the agent! You will need to walk right beside him to get the achievement.

Boss 4: Elarea Aldraste

Elarea, the final boss of Crimson Fang, has a forward red conal attack everyone can step out of to avoid damage.

She will also stun everyone except one person – the chosen player will need to duel her alone!

Master Mode Tips

  • When she starts the duel, she hits hard in Master Mode – so the dueled player will want to use their defensive abilities!
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

To leave Crimson Fang, use the Exit Area button after the final boss is complete or right-click the nearby blue shuttle door.

Story & Lore

Hylo Visz: “Got something you might want to look into, Commander. A group of pirates called the Crimson Fang have taken over Port Nowhere.” You are entering a group activity. Not sure if you know the place. Port Nowhere’s a popular smuggler’s hideout-an old Hutt dreadnaught that got converted into a space station. Still gathering intel on the Crimson Fang leaders, but word is they’ve got a major weapons haul stashed in the cargo hold. Keep you updated as more info comes in.”

Fun Fact: Port Nowhere is a Smuggler-specific story location, and Crimsong Fang is the only way to return there!
