Galactic Seasons 5
Galactic Seasons 5 will be launching with update 7.3.1 and will be called ‘Confidence in Power’. (Galactic Season 4 ends August 14, 2023.)

Unlike the past four seasons, Galactic Season 5 will not have its story tied to a companion. Instead, players will unlock new story missions and meet new story characters as they progress through the reward track, with the final mission granted at Season Level 40.
“Under the command of a mysterious Master, 3V-1L [‘Evil’] will test the player through a series of trials, to see if they are worthy of the Master’s teachings of the “dark side”. Whether this is a prank or a serious threat, the player must decide how deeply they will commit to these “dark” trials to uncover the truth.”
There will also be new objectives that will involve companions being set to specific roles, Space Missions, and Operations. There will be more objectives available for players who are Subscribers or have Preferred accounts than previous seasons.

Map Updates
There will also be map updates in Update 7.3.1 including one really great travel/location based change. Instead of opening up a whole new map to quicktravel, the quicktravel points will be visible on all three of the normal maps you may use regularly (minimap, overlay map, or big map) and you’ll be able to click those quick-travel points and travel to them simply by clicking the icon on the map. This is a huge win for anyone who struggles to read the maps or try and figure out which locations are nearby to travel to when trying to quest or find secrets. It looks like there are also some other smaller improvements when it comes to the design of the map on the way for 7.3.1 as well.
Cloud Servers
SWTOR’s servers are moving to the cloud! Starting on August 15th, the Leviathan will be moved over, and once that is successfully complete over time the other servers will be migrated as well – though not necessarily for 7.3.1, that may happen before or after.

Developer Post
Game Update 7.3.1 is coming soon!
With Game Update 7.3.1, players can expect the launch of Galactic Season 5, UI/UX updates for our HUD and world maps, and special weapons and armor sets coming to the Cartel Market. Below is a brief overview of the features coming with this update. More details will be provided at a later time.
Galactic Seasons: Season 5, “Confidence in Power”
The new Galactic Season will begin with the launch of 7.3.1, so players will be able to immediately progress through the new reward track. Season 5 introduces a new way to engage with the story told in Galactic Seasons. Rather than tying narrative progression to companion influence, story progression is now part of the Galactic Seasons rewards track. Players will unlock new story missions as they progress through the reward track, with the final mission granted at Season Level 40. Additionally, instead of receiving a new companion, players will interact with several new characters, like an oddly enthusiastic astromech named 3V-1L, while making dialogue choices that affect gameplay. Under the command of a mysterious Master, 3V-1L will test the player through a series of trials, to see if they are worthy of the Master’s teachings of the “dark side”. Whether this is a prank or a serious threat, the player must decide how deeply they will commit to these “dark” trials to uncover the truth.
We are also adding new objectives that will involve companions being set to specific roles, Space Missions, and Operations. There are more objectives available for players who are Subscribers or have Preferred accounts. More details will be shared at a later time!

Mapping improvements
Players will see UI/UX improvements to our HUD and World Maps. Most notably, we’ve improved the quick travel (QT) flow to be more informative. The QT Ability will no longer open a separate travel map but the world map instead and it will display the QT points next to your mission objectives. These icons will also be present on the HUD Overlay Map and the Minimap.

There are a number of other UI/UX improvements that were made and they will be covered when we publish the 7.3.1 patch notes!
Additionally, we will be adding a host of exciting new offerings to the Cartel Market! Keep an eye out for more details in an upcoming Cartel Market article.
Game Update 7.3.1 will be launching late August/early September! More details on the content above and the exact release date will follow in the coming weeks, so stay informed by keeping an eye on our forums and social channels.
After 7.3.1
What will be coming up after 7.3.1? While we don’t have many hints yet, we do know that there will eventually be…
GTN Rehaul
With the major economy changes in 7.3, more major changes to the GTN will be coming with a GTN rehaul according to the previous developer livestream. The current inflation efforts, while not always popular with players, have been enormously successful over the last year or so – prices of many expensive items on my server have dropped down to 1/3rd of last’s year’s prices.
Stronghold
We already got the first stronghold mentioned in this post, the Mek-Sha stronghold, but perhaps there’s another one down the line.
Thanks all. -eric (Forums, August 30, 2022)
Warzone Medals
With the other Warzones getting knocked out in 7.3, the only warzones that haven’t been rehauled yet will be Odessan and Ancient Hypergates.
Story
We got a tease of where the story might go in the future as well, though this may be alluding to what is coming in 7.4 and forward!
And after that, more of everything. You can always expect more Flashpoints, more story, like Malgus says, ‘this is only the beginning.’ I talked a little bit about when 7.0 launched how much we had planned out the storyline and everything happening with Malgus, and how is plans are unfolding, and how the Mandalorian civil war storyline ties into that, we’ve got some stuff that I can not wait to see go live, and to see ya’lls faces and your reactions and your comments as it comes down the road.” – Charles Boyd (Former Creative Director, Developer 7.1 Livestream)
Seasons
We will see the continuation of PvP Seasons and Galactic Seasons – both of which are currently underway!
Graphical Updates?
With 64-bit now in the game, it’s possible we may see graphics updates in the future.
We’re also eager to upgrade our visuals elsewhere in SWTOR: starting with Tython, Korriban, Hutta, and Ord Mantell, we’ll be starting a process of upgrading the visual fidelity of our planets to bring them more in line with the amazing work the team has created in recent years. -Keith Kanneg (news article, December 20, 2021)
Crafting Update / Augments?
From an interview by Vulkk.com with the developers:
The official answer stated that while the developers “cannot provide a definitive timeline right now, a change to the Crafting system will not be implemented in the immediate future. At this time, players can continue spending credits on augments.” When the time comes that a crafting revamp will happen, BioWare said that they will give everyone plenty of time to adjust to the changes accordingly.
Based on BioWare’s answer, it seems that they are planning a more significant rework to the crafting system in line with other modernizations we’ve gotten with 7.0. Furthermore, it should theoretically be pretty trivial to just add another crafting tier if that’s all they wanted to do. – August 2022
Master Mode R-4?
It is unclear if Master Mode R-4 is still coming out, due to the large delay in launch of both 7.0 and the R-4 Anomaly operation in both story and veteran mode, but it is currently the only outstanding item on the list from the tenth anniversary, originally shared on a livestream July 1, 2021.
We have kind of a roadmap for #SWTOR even beyond the tenth anniversary! wow! All the way into 2022! More details coming closer to the launch of Legacy of the Sith expansion.
Not a new engine lol. But yes modernization and graphic fidelity. Maybe something to be excited about pic.twitter.com/A5vuG5GWpL
