SWTOR Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint Guide

Spirit of Vengeance is a Flashpoint in Star Wars: The Old Republic that you can run alone, with friends, or with other random players through the groupfinder.

Heads up, this Flashpoint can take a long time to run solo – my shortest time in stealth was 16 minutes, 21 minutes slow but trying to be efficient run, and 30-40 minutes on my slow and exploratory run.

This guide does not include any boss strategies or tricks – it just covers how to get to the flashpoint at the moment. More to come in the future!

Spirit of Vengeance

A roiling conflict brews among the most powerful clans of Mandalore. Enter the fray on the precipice of a Mandalorian civil war, walking a razor’s edge between three hostile ships, and make your mark upon the histories of the Clans – and the galaxy. The first step to freeing the Spirit of Vengeance II and rescuing Shae Vizla’s people is cutting the power to the tether launched by the Champion’s Glory

How to Start

Spirit of Vengeance is a Flashpoint meant to be played as part of the Onslaught expansion storyline. You can encounter it early on naturally partway through he Onslaught expansion, replay it alone in Story mode, or play it outside of the story with a group in Story, Veteran or Master mode.

Use the tabs above for instructions for how to enter the flashpoint in the story line, and how to enter it in Solo (Story) mode, Veteran mode, and Master mode by faction. The instructions are exactly the same Republic and Imperial side.

  • Story: Lvl 75+
  • Solo: Lvl 75+
  • Veteran: Lvl 15-80
  • Veteran Groupfinder: Lvl 70-80
  • Master Mode: Lvl 75-80 †
  • Master Mode Groupfinder: Lvl 80

Story

Requirements: To play the Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint in the story, and receive all the special cutscenes related to the Flashpoint in the story, you will need to be level 75+ and on the correct step of the Onslaught Expansion which is also a quest called Spirit of Vengeance. If you are below this level, or not on the correct quest step, you can not play the story quest for this Flashpoint.

Timeline: In the story, this Flashpoint takes place specifically as part of the Onslaught expansion, on the step called Spirit of Vengeance. It does not make much sense plot-wise to play outside of the story.

Bring a Friend?: You can NOT bring a friend of the Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint that is part of the Onslaught storyline UNLESS that friend is on the exact same step quest Spirit of Vengeance as part of the Onslaught Expansion on the step Complete the “Spirit of Vengeance” Solo-Story Flashpoint in the Spirit of Vengeance quest.

If they have not done the Spirit of Vengeance storyline, they can join you in a group and you can follow the exact same steps together and do the Spirit of Vengeance quest with Lana as long as they are level 75+ and meet the other quest storyline requirements to start. Then you can walk into Spirit of Vengeance together.

If they have already run the storyline or are ineligible to start the Spirit of Vengeance quest, they will NOT be able to walk into the Flashpoint behind you to help you.

Why can’t I get a friend to help? This is because this quest is a special one-time version of the Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint called [SOLO-STORY] – it is not the same as the [STORY], [VETERAN] or [MASTER] version you would pick up from the terminal. It is a unique fourth mode designed to be run alone and has special one-time cutscenes related to the Onslaught expansion.

Directions to the Story Quest for Spirit of Vengeance: Spirit of Vengeance’s one-time story quest is built in to the post-Onslaught expansion storyline.

If you have not yet run through the Onslaught-related storylines, you can start it from the glowing blue terminal on your ship. To start this questline, you can start with the Ossus quest called Inflection Point at level 75+. You’ll be going through a lot of content – Ossus is like the prelude to the Onslaught expansion, then you have to run through the entire Onslaught expansion, then its flashpoint finale Objective Meridian, then the Echoes of Oblivion storyline, then finally you would get to the Spirit of Vengeance quest. Ideally, for the most story comprehension, you’d also have run all of the expansion stories that come before Ossus, but the game allows you to skip past them if you are level 75 – just be aware you can not go back and do them later in the story.

→ Ossus (Inflection Point quest)
→ Onslaught Expansion (Onderon & Mek-Sha)
→ Objective Meridian Flashpoint
→ Echoes of Oblivion
→ Spirit of Vengeance

If you are on this step, you can use the Launch Mission button to get to Odessen quickly.

Once on Odessen, you can follow the purple markers to the elevator outside the base, and go to the Alliance Operations floor (up). Follow the quest markers to talk to Shae Vizla – ignore the other quests on this floor.

Once you get to the quest literally called Spirit of Vengeance, after you watch your cutscene, you’ll automatically be on the quest [SOLO-STORY] Flashpoint: Spirit of Vengeance, where you can walk over to the Flashpoint entrance and walk in – no need to use the quest terminal, as you should already be on the quest. The Flashpoint entrance is on the same floor and will be amrked on your map.

Story Progress: [STORY] Spirit of Vengeance alone will not progress your storyline – it is simply the repeatable solo version. To work on the overarching story, you also need to be on the quest Spirit of Vengeance on the step Complete the “Spirit of Vengeance” Solo-Story Flashpoint and then run the [SOLO-STORY] Flashpoint: Spirit of Vengeance quest.

Lost the quest? If you lost the Onslaught expansion quest called Spirit of Vengeance… there’s not really a specific way to pick it up, either it is in your quest log or it is not, and you should not be able to abandon the expansion quest chain. Keep in mind this story-based introductory quest is one-time-per-character. If you lost the ability to walk into the Flashpoint door, or lost the quest with the word Flashpoint in it, you can pick up the  [SOLO-STORY] Flashpoint: Spirit of Vengeance quest from the glowing blue terminal outside the flashpoint’s entrance – you’ll only be able to see the [SOLO-STORY] version on the terminal if you are currently on the Complete the “Spirit of Vengeance” Solo-Story Flashpoint a step of the Spirit of Vengeance quest, otherwise only the other non-storyline modes will be visible.

Solo (Story) Instructions

You can also run this repeatable Flashpoint solo outside of the one-time story quest, at level 75+.

Activity Finder: The FASTEST and EASIEST way to get into the Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint soo mode is with the Activity Finder. If you are level 75 or higher, click the icon of “three little people” on the bottom right of your screen which will open the Activity Finder Window.

Then choose the Solo tab in the Activity Finder.

On the solo tab, scroll down and find the listing for Spirit of Vengeance on the list under Flashpoints, select it, then click the green Travel button. This will take you right into the Flashpoint!

Bring a Friend: You are allowed to bring friends along for this Flashpoint, you do not have to do it alone even though it is considered soloable. Your friends must also be level 75+, be in a group with you, and then you can all use the Solo Tab of the Activity Finder to get into the Flashpoint, and it will put you together no matter where in the galaxy you started from.

There’s really no need to walk into the Flashpoint manually, but here are the instructions.

Manual Entry: To enter this Flashpoint manually, you must go to the Spirit of Vengeance’s Flashpoint entrance, which is located on the planet of Odessen, then take the elevator to the Alliance Operations level. Find the Spirit of Vengeance quest blue terminal and choose [STORY] from the options.

Step 1 – Get to Odessen, by flying there with your ship.

Step 2 – Take the elevator outside the base to the Alliance Operations level on the top floor. Look for the Spirit of Vengeance quest terminal.

Choose [STORY] mode to start the Flashpoint, then run on in the door.

Veteran Instructions

Spirit of Vengeance also has a repeatable 4-player Veteran version. It is meant to be completed by a group with any type of Republic characters in it, you do not necessarily need a tank or healer to complete it. You will likely also have good luck with 2 players and 2 companions, or 3 players and 1 companion.

Group Finder: If you want to queue up and enter Spirit of Vengeance in veteran mode through the group finder, you will need to be level 70-80 and not currently on any Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint quests or it won’t show up as an option in the group finder. If you are level 70-80, click the icon of “three little people” on the bottom right of your screen which will open the Activity Finder Window. Then choose the Group tab in the Activity Finder.

Filter: If you want to specifically run Spirit of Vengeance and not a random Flashpoint, make sure to choose Veteran Flashpoints, then click the Filter button the right and narrow your choices down to just Spirit of Vengeance before pressing Join Queue. Joining the queue will put you in line to be matched with random players to play Spirit of Vengeance with.

Groupfinder flashpoints do NOT show the cutscenes. To see the cutscenes related to this Flashpoint, you must enter it manually by walking in the door.

Bring a Friend in the Groupfinder: You can queue up with a group of 2, 3, or 4 players in the group finder. If you have a full group of 4, it will bring you straight to the Flashpoint with your full group. If you have 2 or 3 players in your group, the group finder will match you with other random players until you have a full group – but you’ll always be paired with your friends who started off in your group, and will not be split up.

Story: [VETERAN] Spirit of Vengeance will not progress your storyline – it is simply the repeatable group version. If you are a low level, this is the only version that will show up on the actual Flashpoint questgiver in front of the entrance door – so don’t be confused and accidentally enter the group version if you are a low level, as it is not meant to be completed alone.

Veteran Manual Entry: To enter this Flashpoint manually, you must go to the Spirit of Vengeance’s Flashpoint entrance, which is located on the planet of Odessen, then take the elevator to the Alliance Operations level. Find the Spirit of Vengeance quest blue terminal and choose [VETERAN] from the options. If you don’t see the Veteran version it means you are not yet eligible due to being below level 15.

Bring a Friend Manually: Veteran Mode Flashpoints are not meant to be completed alone, though highly-skilled, highly-geared, high-level players might be able to. To bring friends along for this Veteran Flashpoint, they’ll need to pick up the Veteran Mode quest from the blue terminal – or you can pick up the quest and share it with them, but they’ll still need to walk in the door manually. Characters walking in the door need to be level 15+.

Step 1 – Get to Odessen, by flying there with your ship.

Step 2 – Take the elevator outside the base to the Alliance Operations level on the top floor. Look for the Spirit of Vengeance quest terminal.

Choose [VETERAN] mode to start the Flashpoint, then run on in the door.

Master Instructions

Master Mode is the hardest version of Spirit of Vengeance. It is meant to be completed by a high-level high-skilled group at level 80. Most teams will want a Tank, Healer and two Damage characters.

Group Finder: If you want to queue up and enter Spirit of Vengeance in Master Mode through the group finder, you will need to be level 80 and not currently on any Spirit of Vengeance Flashpoint quests or it won’t show up as an option in the group finder. If you are level 80, click the icon of “three little people” on the bottom right of your screen which will open the Activity Finder Window. Then choose the Group tab in the Activity Finder.

Filter: If you want to specifically run Spirit of Vengeance and not a random Flashpoint, make sure to choose Master Flashpoints, then click the Filter button the right and narrow your choices down to just Spirit of Vengeance before pressing Join Queue.

Your friends all need to be level 80 too.

Story: [MASTER] Spirit of Vengeance will not progress your storyline – it is simply the repeatable difficult group version.

Manual Entry: To enter this Flashpoint manually, you must go to the Spirit of Vengeance’s Flashpoint entrance, which is located on the planet of Odessen, then take the elevator to the Alliance Operations level. Find the Spirit of Vengeance quest blue terminal and choose [MASTER] from the options.

Bring a Friend Manually: Master Mode Flashpoints are not meant to be completed alone, and are designed for level 80 players who are comfortable with their role and class. To bring friends along for this Master Flashpoint, they’ll need to pick up the Master Mode quest from the blue terminal – or you can pick up the quest and share it with them, but they’ll still need to walk in the door manually while you’re in a group. Level 75-80 characters can technically enter Master Mode flashpoints, but all the enemies are level 80, and they will die very quickly.

Step 1 – Get to Odessen, by flying there with your ship.

Step 2 – Take the elevator outside the base to the Alliance Operations level on the top floor. Look for the Spirit of Vengeance quest terminal.

Choose [MASTER] mode to start the Flashpoint, then run on in the door.

Bonus Quest

The small bonus quest Goldie’s Locks opens up the bonus boss Goldie the rancor in the Spirit of Vengeance in all modes, including Story, Veteran and Master.

You start the quest by walking into a map with two bedrooms, it’s a few maps after the kitchen.

Find the First and Second paired cell key:

    • One is in a blue nightstand beside a bed (stealth friendly)
    • One is in a blue footlocker under a bed (stealth friendly with a sleep)

This will allow you to right-click the glowing blue button beside Goldie’s cage so you can fight the rancor!

Bosses

This Flashpoint has four boss fights – Gorga Brak, Bask Sunn, Troya Ajak, Heta Kol and the bonus boss Goldie the rancor.

In Story Mode and Veteran Mode, you can use the medpacs scattered around the bosses.  Walk over these to heal yourself – don’t step on them if you do not need them. They also respawn fairly quickly if you need to use them again in this Flashpoint.

The following boss info is mainly for story and Veteran mode – Master Mode tactics are not covered in this guide.

Boss 1 – Gorga Brak

Stay out of his red fire circles as much as possible.

You can interrupt his Flame Sweep and Fire Bomb if you want.

Fire Jumping Puzzle

In Story Mode, you can just walk and do a little hop along the right side, no need to jump any gaps, to cross the fire hazard.

In Veteran Mode, you can just walk and do a little hop along the right side, no need to jump any gaps, to cross the fire hazard.  Only one player needs to make it across successfully.

There is an achievement! Precision Platformer Achievement: Be the first in your group to cross the hazard on the Dar’manda ship in the “Spirit of Vengeance” Flashpoint on Veteran or Master difficulty.

Bonus Boss – Goldie

Goldie’s cage becomes available to open if you do the small bonus quest Goldie’s Locks which is in an earlier map with two bedrooms.

Omnce you have both keys, you can right-click the glowing blue terminal beside Goldie.

Stay out of claw attack red rectangle on ground (Left-Handed Swipe)

Face the triangular red conal attack away from your group or companion (Right-Handed Swipe)

Don’t forget to go click the blue terminal near Goldie before moving on – that’s the actual quest objective.

Boss 2 – Bask Sunn

Bask Sun will have a bunch of smaller enemies – make sure to kill the medics first.

He does a mechanic where he puts a rope between two players or between you and your companion. You can “catch” him / clothesline him in the middle of the rope to stun him.

He does some pushes and pulls but nothing interesting

Don’t forget to use the bridge controls once Bask Sunn is defeated.

Boss 3 – Troya Ajak

Troya is a strange fight – I think she was supposed to have more mechanics that didn’t actually work out.

She is extra vulnerable when she is doing her Songbird Volley, so save any strong attacks for that (or Heroic Moment if you are playing alone with a Companion).

Stay out of the red circles as much as possible, but only if you are getting hurt buy them.

Boss 4 – Heta Kol

Heta Kol can actually be a difficult fight, even in the easiest modes, due to her special mechanics. The goal will be to keep your companion or team mates alive.

If you get a red circle, run away from your companion or team mates, so they don’t get knocked down.

If you get attacked with the orange triangle flamethrower, aim it away from your companion or team mates.

When she does her lockdown attack, slowly walk out of the small red circles and lead them away from your companion or group.

When there are enemies in the back, go attack them yourself to get their attention immediately so they are less likely to target and kill your companion or group healer. You’ll know this is happening when she flies away into the air.

Kill the medics first, they heal the others.

In the second group of enemies that shows up if your companion or healer is dying make sure to go pick up all the enemies at the back of the room too, kill the snipers first.

Achievements

  • Mercy for the Wicked: Finish the “Spirit of Vengeance” Flashpoint without defeating any War Profiteers.
  • Not So Profitable Now, Is It?: Defeat all War Profiteers in the “Spirit of Vengeance” Flashpoint.
    • 3 on the Fortune’s Folly Engine Deck
    • 1 in the Fortune’s Folly Kitchen
    • 3 in the Fortune’s Folly Lounge
    • 2 in the Fortune’s Folly hallways leading to the Officer’s Quarters looking at carbonite
    • 2 more in the Fortune’s Folly hallways further up near stuffed trophy heads

Not a secret, but on the The Seeker’s Vigil – Archives Room: There is an upper balcony / ramp in this room. The ramp is blocked – but you can leap / shadow stride to some of the enemies to get up there. It’s a neat area but there’s nothing up there except cool ambience and a few extra normal enemies.

Skips

This Flashpoint is not very friendly when it comes to trying to skip past enemies – in stealth or out of stealth.

Non-Stealth

There is many tight hallways in this flashpoint, so no sneaking around things by walking far away from them.

Skip #1

Most beginning rooms and hallways in the first ship are pretty heavily guarded and don’t allow skips, but you can skip this one group in the center of the hallway with statues – just jump onto the siding and run under the air vents. You’ll need to fight the group at the door.

Skip #2

You can skip this guy. You can just walk through his kitchen peacefully. He isn’t hostile. He does not have to die. (Sorry for the joke – with all the narrow halls, open rooms with tons of enemies and scripted ambush points across the whole flashpoint, spirit of vengeance isn’t one that has any real skips. Your surest bet to go faster here is to simply pull more enemies at one time.)

Stealth

If you are playing Spirit of Vengeance alone and are on a Stealth character, or are in a full group of stealthers, this flashpoint is really not very fun to stealth through. There is a lot of enemies that will knock you out of stealth, here’s some notes I took about stealthing in this flashpoint.

Varad Hounds

  • The Varad Hounds have an ability called Stealth Scent – Scents the area for stealthed opponents. – 15 meters, so you can sometimes avoid them by hugging the walls, or waiting for the dogs to walk past then jumping off railings
  • In the room down the ramp, you need to fight the group on the ground either way because the boss will spawn there
  • You can stealth through groups that don’t have a hound dog
  • If there is a hound dog there’s no way to avoid getting detected – so just get into position to only fight that group
  • There’s a way to put the dogs to sleep before they can detect you but I haven’t figured out the pattern yet
  • After Gorga you can stealth a lot, no dogs, until the room with many enemies

Dar’manda Enforcers

  • Dar’manda Enforcers – Advanced Stealth Detection – Equipped to detect stealth abilities. – 35m to center of TARGET
  • Many enemies after kitchen – its almost impossible to skip or stealth anything in this room. Groups on the side will also be pulled into the middle and ceilings even if you are careful due to the 35m mechanic while in stealth.
  • So just stay out of stealth after the kitchen, and go straight down the middle and fight the group before and after the fountain, going thru the fountain, and it will leave the side groups out if you stay out of stealth.
  • Room with Goldie in a cage, there’s two Enforcers wandering around so you can skip the first group while the enforcers are on the stairs
  • And if you kill those two enforcers on the stairs, then you can skip the next group!

Ash’ad Pilgrim

  • After the Bask Sunn boss, the Ash’ad Pilgrim adds have a Super Stealth Detection Prototype stealth sensors that make this enemy difficult to evade. (Stealth Detection increased by 6). I think their range is less than 20 meters but they are hard to avoid – but if you can stay farther than 20 you can skip some groups.

Don’t press the blue computer to disable the tether early on until you have fought the enemies downstairs, even though it looks like you can sneak around them. The boss will spawn there.
