Classic Venture Items Buffs, Boosts, and Grenade Preview on the PTS (Public Test Server)

On the Public Test Server, we got our first preview of the special buffs, challenge items, grenades and treasure-hunting items associated with Classic ventures.

These special gold enemies around the map drop special items including modifiers and challenges. The modifiers are a boost to you in combat. The challenges might be things like….

• You will take steadily increasing damage for the next 3 minutes. If you can defeat 15 enemies without succumbing to the damage, you will recieve the “Survivor” buff, which increases all healing you recieve by 20%!
• You will have 3 minutes to defeat 25 enemies. During this time, your critical chance is increased by 99%! If you can complete the task, you will recieve the “Killer” buff, which increases your critical chance by 10%
• You will have 5 minutes to defeat 5 enemies within 5 seconds of each other. During this time, all damage recieved will be increased by 100%. If you succeed, you will recieve the “Gladiator” buff, which decreases all damage taken by 10%!

The modifier gives you a mystery buff.

I also got this treasure locator which apparently puts a marker on your map but I died before figuring that out.

Buff

Venture buff items are randomized drops from glowing gold enemies that make you stronger temporarily on your character. You can use them immediately or save them for later.

• Challenge Modifier: Survivor: Smells like fresh flowers. – Gives 60 minute buff once used: True Grit – Heals when health is low. This effect can only activate once every 30 seconds. All damage received increased by 10%.
• Challenge Modifier: Unstable Shielding: Crackles and sparks in your hand. – Gives 60 minute buff once used: Unstable Shielding – Occasionally activates an unstable shield module, which reflects damage, but explodes when breached.
• Challenge Modifier: Hunter: Swirls in ominous hues of red and orange. – Gives 60 minute buff once used: Hunter – Critical chance increased by 15%. Damage received increased by 30%.

Challenge

Venture challenge items are randomized drops from glowing gold enemies that give you a short challenge of some sort on your character. You can use them immediately or save them for later.

• Mysterious Map: A map marking the location of a Mysterious Challenger! Check your map for the location.
• Challenge: Survival: Begins a challenge! You will take steadily increasing damage for the next 3 minutes. If you can defeat 15 enemies without succumbing to the damage, you will recieve the “Survivor” buff, which increases all healing you recieve by 20% for 60 minutes!
• Challenge: Gladiator: Begins a challenge! You will have 5 minutes to defeat 5 enemies within 5 seconds of each other. During this time, all damage recieved will be increased by 100%. If you succeed, you will recieve the “Gladiator” buff, which decreases all damage taken by 10% for 60 minutes!
• Challenge: Kill: Begins a challenge! You will have 3 minutes to defeat 25 enemies. During this time, your critical chance is increased by 99%! If you can complete the task, you will recieve the “Killer” buff, which increases your critical chance by 10% for 60 minutes!

Grenades

Venture grenades are random drops from glowing golden enemies that you can throw at other enemies. Only one grenade type is available at a time.

• Regenerating Freeze Bombs: A Freeze Bomb which can be used every 60s while on Tython.
• Regenerating Pyro Grenades: A Pyro Grenade which can be used every 60s while on Tython.
• Regenerating Electro-Stun Grenades: An Electro-Stun Grenade which can be used every 60s while on Tython.
• Regenerating Waste Grenades: A Waste Grenade which can be used every 60s while on Tython.
• Regenerating Seismic Grenades: A Seismic Grenade which can be used every 60s while on Tython.
• Pulsing Communicator: Summons a grenade vendor to your location. Assuming it’s safe, of course. [The grenades cost venture currency plus credits.]

Speed Buffs

These are some of the venture-specific speed buffs you may pick up as you play. These are not fully implemented on the Public Test Server yet.

• Shrouded Path: Grants the Shrouded Path effect, which provides stealth while under the effects of Expedience from speed paths.
• Found Quick Travel Pass: Grants temporary access to Challenge Mode quick travel points! If these are already available via the armor set bonus, it will instead provide some Challenge Mode loot!
• Merchant’s Quick Travel Pass: Grants temporary access to Challenge Mode quick travel points!
• Expedient Insight: Grants temporary access to Challenge Mode speed paths! Expedient Insight can stack up to 3 times, and will allow Expedience buffs along speed paths to stack along with it.

Treasure

• Wide-Pulse Treasure Locator: The wide-pulse attachment on this treasure-locator is near-guaranteed to find amazing riches! This item feels… familiar. [This is a similar item to one that was introduced for the Hoth Dynamic Encounters in a previous update, called Snow Grift, where you would dig up garabage.]
• Treasure!: A mysterious Challenge Mode treasure! Your treasure finder can finally rest.
• Tracking Data: Your treasure finder is narrowing down the location of the nearest treasure.

Vendors

If you happen to get yourself a Blinking Communicator as a random drop, you can summon a vendor who you can buy venture items from. The items cost venture currency plus credits.

• Blinking Communicator: Summons a mysterious vendor to your location. Assuming it’s safe, of course.
• Mysterious Map: This is a Seeking Item. Only one Seeking Item may be purchased.
• Regenerating Freeze Bombs: Only one Grenade Type may be purchased.
• Regenerating Pyro Grenades: Only one Grenade Type may be purchased.
• Regenerating Electro-Stun Grenades: Only one Grenade Type may be purchased.
• Regenerating Waste Grenades: Only one Grenade Type may be purchased.
• Regenerating Seismic Grenades: Only one Grenade Type may be purchased.
