The False Emperor

After an intense battle, the forces of the rogue Sith Lord have been driven from Ilum. Now both the Republic and Empire each possess the coordinates to the Imperial traitor‘s battlestation. Knowing that their defeat on Ilum will only serve as a temporary setback to the renegade Empire’s offensive, both sides realize that the time to strike is now. The Empire and Republic call on their most powerful heroes to board the Sith’s stolen battlestation and bring an end to their march across the galaxy. But the rogue Sith was prepared, and has readied the battlestation in preparation for the confrontation that lies ahead. Now the most elite heroes in the galaxy must battle their way through a seemingly endless army of droids and soldiers before facing off with the rogue Sith to crush their new Empire once and for all.
How to Start
The False Emperor is a Flashpoint meant to be played at almost any time during your levelling or story path – but it would be smart to play it, and its partner Flashpoint called The Battle of Ilum, after your class story ends on Corellia, and before you start the expansions. You can encounter it at the very end of the Ilum Story Arc after you finish your class story, or replay it alone in Story mode, or play it outside of the story with a group in Story, Veteran or Master mode.

Use the tabs above for instructions for how to enter the flashpoint in the story line, and how to enter it in Solo (Story) mode, Veteran mode, and Master mode by faction.

Story – Republic Instructions

Requirements: To play the The False Emperor Flashpoint in the story, and receive all the special cutscenes related to the Flashpoint in the story, you will need to be level 50+ and on the correct step of Ilum Under Siege as part of the Ilum Story Arc. If you are below this level, or have not done the Ilum Story Arc ‘Crystal Ball’ and its related quests up to Ilum Under Siege, you can not play the story quest for this Flashpoint.
![]()
Timeline: In the story, this Flashpoint takes place after your class story ends on Corellia. If you missed the natural entry point for this story arc and Flashpoint, it would be smart to play them before you start the Onslaught expansion as the events are directly tied into the fifth and sixth expansion.

Bring a Friend: If you want to bring a friend along for this Flashpoint in Story Mode to do the full story line, you easily can.
If they have not done the Crystal Ball Ilum Story Arc, they can join you in a group and you can follow the exact same steps together as long as they are level 47+.
If they have already run the storyline, they’ll be able to join you in the cutscenes after talking to the first quest giver, by walking in the door after you on Ilum at the the Republic Base Camp for the Supreme Commander Rans quest. Then after you finish that cutscene with them watching, you’ll be able to enter the Flashpoint, but your friend won’t have any quests so they can’t walk in behind you… tell them to go talk to the nearby DG-93 droid and pick up the [Start Story Mode] quest and then they will be able to enter the Flashpoint with you at level 50+.
They can also use the Solo tab in the Activity Finder to quickly join you once you are already inside the Flashpoint as long as they are level 50+.

Directions to the Republic Story Quest for The False Emperor: The False Emperor’s one-time story quest, which is the Ilum story Arc leading up to it, is started by speaking to a questgiver on the fleet named Lieutenant Ha’laa, at level 47 or higher. The questgiver will have a purple triangle quest over its head, and is in the center ring of the Fleet. The Flashpoint itself is located on Ilum at the Republic Base Camp, which you would need to fly to. The flashpoint storyline, the Ilum Story Arc, is called Crystal Ball for Republic players.
Step 1 – Talk to the Questgiver near the inner ring of the Republic Fleet named Lieutenant Ha’laa, a yellow Twi’lek
Step 2 – Get to the Ilum Republic Base Camp by flying to Ilum with your ship

Step 3 – Before taking the shuttle down to the planet, stop and speak to the Shuttle Pilot on the space station, right before the shuttle

Step 4 – Follow the quest marker for the Crystal Ball quest, and speak to Supreme Commander Rans on the Republic Base Camp – go in the green door, do NOT go down the elevator to the second level of the Republic Base Camp.

Once inside talk to Supreme Commander Rans to watch the introductory quest.

This will lead you on a series of quests on Ilum, leading up to the Flashpoint finales:
- Crystal Ball
- A Gentleman’s Agreement
- Armada
- The Jedi Temple
- Ilum Under Siege
The first part of Ilum Under Siege is to run The Battle of Ilum, then return to Commander Rans again.

Once you complete that Ilum Under Siege step, you’ll automatically be on the quest [STORY] The False Emperor. Finally, go down the nearby elevator to the Lower Levels. The False Emperor will be on the Lower Level of the Ilum base. Head on in, you don’t need to talk to the questgiver outside the entrance. Heads up, you need to be 47 to start the Ilum Story Arc, but you need to be level 50 to start the story version of the False Emperor Flashpoint.

If you play in Story Mode, you will also get a Combat Support Droid to help you.

If you lose him, you can re-summon him by left-clicking the blue symbol beside the The False Emperor quest.

If you can’t see that icon, you can also right-click the item in the Mission Items tab of your inventory.

Story Progress: [STORY] The False Emperor alone will not progress your storyline – it is simply the repeatable solo version. To work on the overarching story, you also need to be on the quest Ilum Under Siege on the step Complete Flashpoint: The False Emperor and then run the [STORY] Flashpoint: The False Emperor quest.

Lost the quest? If you lost the Crystal Ball quest, head back to the Lieutenant Ha’laa questgiver you started at to re-pick up the quest. Keep in mind this story-based introductory quest Crystal Ball is one-time-per-character, and you shouldn’t be able to abandon it. If you lost the ability to walk into the Flashpoint door, or lost the quest with the word Flashpoint in it, you can pick up the [STORY] Flashpoint: The False Emperor quest from Captain Farnis outside the flashpoint’s entrance.

Bosses
This Flashpoint has three boss fights – Tregg the Destroyer the Trandoshan, Jindo Krey the Mandalorian Ship Captain and his ship, the twin droids Prototypes B-16 & A-14, HK-47 the Reconsutrcted Assassin Droid, Chondrus Berani the alien Chagrian Captain of the Guard, and finally the False Emperor himself, Darth Malgus.
In story mode, and in Veteran Mode when you have multiple players you can use the medpacs scattered around the bosses. Right-click them to heal yourself.

The following boss info is mainly for story and Veteran mode – Master Mode tactics are about the same, the bosses just hurt more.
Boss 1 – Tregg the Destroyer

Stay out of his big red circle. He will chase you with it for a while.

He pushes whoever he is attacking backwards – so put your back against a wall so you don’t get knocked off.

Boss 2 – Jindo Krey

Jindo Krey’s ship attacks you when it is nearby – you can right-click the glowing blue terminal near his ship up on a platform to make it back off.

Otherwise, just avoid the red circles on the ground.

Boss 3 – Prototypes B-16 & A-14

Only attack the droid that does NOT have a blue circle under its feet.

Boss 4 – HK-47

HK will choose a player randomly to give a blue circle to.

The blue circle moves with your character. Shortly after, it turns red, and drops on the ground.

The idea is you can drop this red circle on the turrets… but I’ve found the turrets rarely show up.

Boss 5 – Chondrus Berani

Try and stay out of the boss’s orange circle as much as possible.

Bonus Boss – Sith Entity

To unlock the bonus boss, you must complete the bonus quest The Hidden Threat:
- Stage 1: Defeat Malgus’s Forces 0/30
- Stage 2: Defeat Malgus’s Forces 0/40
- Stage 3: Override the Command Consoles 0/6
- Final Stage: Disable the Stasis Chamber 0/3
- Final Stage: Defeat the Sith Entity (bonus boss)

The Sith Entity bonus boss breaks up into three bosses to fight.

If you do not do the bonus quest, the Sith Entity is floating and can not be attacked.

Boss 6 – Darth Malgus

Malgus will push you back, so put your back against the wall if he is attacking you. Most groups like to use the stairs.

Don’t forget to right-click the glowing blue panel to finish the Flashpoint, after defeating Malgus.

Master Mode

Master Mode False Emperor is pretty much exactly the same as Veteran Mode, except everything hits harder and has more health. The only major difference I noticed was you really must stop Jindo Kray’s ship with the terminals quickly, or the ship shooting missiles at you really, really hurts. Otherwise there’s no new mechanics to learn!
Bonus Quests
The Architect’s Tour is just for extra xp and credits, but The Hidden Threat unlocks the bonus boss.

Skips
What follows are a quick gallery of images depicting specific walking routes that may save you some time by avoiding enemies during the flashpoint – certain routes will be highlited as the main “community routes” that you’ll probably see players in random activity-finder groups try to do – if you only practice one skip out of all of these, make it the community one! All of the following images are done without stealth or without a sleep dart/mind maze from a stealth character, so anyone can attempt them. If you fail to slip by unnoticed or see your team has attacked the enemies – always pull back from these routes and go back to help them defeat them! These may save time if everyone does them, but nothing makes a flashpoint slower than running ahead and not helping others to get out of combat again.
Solo Stealth: If you are playing False Emperor alone and are on a Stealth character, or with a full stealth group, you can skip many of the enemies.
Skip #1 – Community Skip

This first one only really skips one gold-level patrolling droid but it’s done by pretty much the entire community. Just take care to actually jump as you hit the edge of this platform and stick the landing, walking off the edge frequently doesn’t end up being enough. Also, when you land, keep in mind the two droids you’re about to fight have knockbacks and position accordingly.
Skip #2

In the first room with allied trandoshans, hug this further generator-looking object on the floor to squeak by two groups of hostiles and head for the ramp up ahead.
Skip #3

MIND THE GAP: there is another pit, kind of like skip #1 as you leap down from this corner instead of taking the ramp – it skips the silver-level commando, but take care not to fall to your death. Instead of aiming for the ramp with a boost, you can just drop down to the lower floor next to the storage crate around the corner (not pictured here but you can’t miss it) and easily walk forwards from there.
Skip #4 – Advanced

Right after the first boss you can skip this pack of mandos around the ramp if you DO NOT have a combat support droid out in story mode (he will run straight up the ramp and aggro everything). Hug the left wall and get behind the mandos on the left side of the ramp. Then, jump at the ramp to get onto it; as far away from the mandos as you can manage. This can be tricky – my advice is to jump so far left that you definitely can’t make the jump at first, and then repeatedly keep trying slightly further right until you make it. The reason for this is that you’d rather jump and get to try again, then try too easy of a jump and aggro them by accident. You’ll know where to jump up after doing it right once. In the images bottom left corner, I’ve highlighted the part of the ramp I typically aim for.
Skip #5

After the mando ramp, you can usually just run straight between the patrolling droid and the group of enemies in the corner. If the patrolling droid is getting close to you though, you may see some players take this blue route up on the boxes and around to get around it without waiting for it to walk back.
Skip #6

MUCH further along in the flashpoint, after the third boss (the twin droids) you can hop up once onto the railing to your left, and then leap over the corner to continue on your way, to avoid the droids ahead of you. This does not work on the identical floor below you, as the droids on that floor are too far forward. It only works after the bossfight. Take care, lots of players end up falling to their death.
Skip #7 – Community Skip

After Chondrus Berani’s fight, you can get past these three by simply running behind the pillar and hopping the ramp. Most people will do this. Another common skip is to do it in the identical room BEFORE Chondrus, but that one requires sleep darts.
Skip #8 – Community Skip

Similarly to skip 7, this guy may be doing a cool pose but he never notices you running behind the pillar to his left. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a group that fights this guy.
Skip #9 – Community Skip

The guards in front of the giant blue laser beam won’t see you if you jump off the right-side of the ramp and stick to the right. You’ll have to beat a patrolling silver-level droid, and then the next group before the up-ramp will only be skippable with sleep darts.
Rewards
In addition to the usual rewards of XP, credits, gear and end-game currency, The False Emperor has the following rewards available.
The Statue of The Emperor decoration is an automatic reward for completing the repeatable solo-friendly [STORY] mode, picked up through the Activity Finder. It can also be bought and sold on the GTN.
Holograms of Arkis Wode
The Holograms of Arkis Wode are not a bonus quest – instead they are just a fun way of adding more story to the Flashpoint. They will play automatically as you walk by, but you can re-play them by right-clicking the blue buttons under the hologram. There are five of them to find plus you get to speak to Arkis himself later in the flashpoint.

Here is a map of where they are located:
Hologram #1:
Welcome to the heart of our new Empire. I am Arkis Wode: engineer, architect, artist.
Serve Darth Malgus well, and my technological creations will serve you.
Hologram #2:
The stealth armada. These vessels will shape the galaxy on invisible wings.
Such greatness is only attained by the marriage of Anomid engineering and the Foundry.
A few upgrades, and the Foundry droids can process Adegan crystals and construct stealth squadrons in record time.
Darth Malgus united our technologies, as he will unite the galaxy.
Hologram #3:
You are in the power core. The brain of this space station, and my domain.
If you are not a member of the Schism Collective, turn back. This place is not for you.
Hologram #4:
With the right application of technology, the impossible comes to life.
We can travel faster than light; we can construct an entire fleet in weeks; and we can make the visible invisible.
So when you see my engineers performing feats that make the Force look like child’s play, remember that anything is possible.
Hologram #5:
You may have noticed our recent improvements.
Upgraded turbolasers replaced last generation turrets. Specialized flux cannons can disintegrate capital ships with a single blast.
But most importantly, we installed state-of-the-art stealth technology. This station is completely invisible.
From the skies, our Empire will unite the galaxy, and Darth Malgus will be our Emperor.
