SWTOR Voss Interpreter’s Retreat Guide

Interpreter’s Retreat is a new area added to Voss in Star Wars: The Old Republic as part of Update 7.3 “Old Wounds”. It is kind of like a daily area in that it has side quests, secret achievements, and unique cosmetic rewards, but it does not have a reputation system attached to it. This guide will cover everything you can do in the Interpreter’s Retreat area!

How to Start Interpreter’s Retreat

The Interpreter’s Retreat daily story area can only be started once you have fully completed the Interpreter’s Retreat main storyline and can be picked up from the same blue missions boards you visited during the main story. The main story is called “Old Wounds” and revolves around the Voss and Gormak society after the attacks on Voss, and can’t be started until you complete the previous storylines, starting at Ossus / Jedi Under Siege and leading all the way up until Ruhnuk.

Shrine of Silence Flashpoint

The Flashpoint released at the same time, Shrine of Silence, can be started in the city of the Pilgrim’s Retreat from a terminal in the north. It is available in Story, Veteran and Master Mode. It is not directly a part of the main story or daily area, but located in the same area.

Then you must travel to the map to the north, and walk to the entrance – it is not beside the terminal

Or, if you do not currently have any modes already picked up, you can use the Group Finder at level 15+ to queue up for Shrine of Silence Veteran Mode or Master Mode.

Quests

The side missions are available on the Help Wanted: Reconstruction Efforts terminal.

Thank you player Zahk for all your help on this guide in tracking down the quests and how to do them!

A Cantina in Crisis

Repeatable Gormak Mission

Tips

  • The cantina is inside the large green instance near the mission board. Head on inside, talk to the hygiene droid. He will tell you you’re dirty so go wash your hands. (just past the droid, dispense soap, wash hands, dry off).
  • The rest of your tasks in this cantina are pretty straightforward. They all remain in this room and there are no incorrect items to right-click that will fail you (unlike feast of prosperity cooking).
  • Some items don’t help with the objective however, and they may be for certain hidden achievements. Just go around following your mission markers and picking up ingredients until a meal is made. Right click the finished meal at the prep table for a droid to pick it up and serve it.
  • After you eat a meal yourself, you’ll need to sweep the floors and pick up garbage and take it outside to the dumpster. Fully leave the phase and right click the large dumpster a few tents away along the east rock wall outside.

Easing Anxieties

Repeatable Voss Mission

Tips

  • Your first objective is to head to the first Patrol point at the northern edge of the Retreat, where two voss are hanging out near a basin. Use the temporary abilities that pop up and defeat any enemies that appear.
  • The second patrol point is directly in front of the mission terminal, in the central plaza. Same temporary abilities. Listening Devices found will be large objects on walls (see above).
  • Continue to the third and fourth patrol points, using the same temporary abilities, destroying any listening devices and fighting droids. After the fourth, head up to the hand in terminal (near the shrine flashpoint terminal in the north half) and hand in your report!

Exercising Judgment

Reconstruction Task

Tips

  • This mission will require you to stand on a hill and use a scanner item to look for some objects. The hill marked on the map for the mission is covered in Nexu, so clear them off and then use your item while looking toward the northwest.
  • From this vantagepoint you should see two blue beams from beyond the tree line. Never mind what they are pointing down to, just click on the glowing tips at the top of the beams to complete the objective.
  • To collect tablet fragments, simply head over to the stone staircase on the west side. One tablet from each grouping of fragments on the map will suffice. One group is embedded in the rock walls along the sides of the stairs, and another group is on a little plateau all the way at the top of the stairs.
  • Next you will simply scan and do this again for the east half of the map. The scanning location is a small stone walkway guarded by two voss and a gormak. The tablets you must go collect are directly infront of you from this platform – on a hill with some nexu, and just left of that, another grouping of tablets around the entrance to the flashpoint.
  • Once collected head to the eastern edge of the map to the Temple of Judgement personal phase. A ruins droid will emit the voice of a voss historian, explaining the tablets are to learn a Voss fable. Head into the cloister and examine the tablets in order. At the back of the temple you will be asked to restore a tablet with 4 fragments you have – they will appear as temporary abilities. In the order of the fable explained to you, the tablets should be used as: Mawvorr > Outsider > Voss > Star.
  • Reset the tour droid using another temporary ability near it, and then leave the temple. Some droids may appear to attack you, but defeating them is not an objective. Stealth, run, or fight your way out.

Found and Lost

Reconstruction Task

Tips

  • This mission will start off with heading to a bluff of rocks just northwest of the Interpreter’s Retreat. Head up onto the hill and remove the droids in your way, then stand on the edge and use your scanner mission item.
  • Looking directly northwest from here, there should be a yellow target reticule to click that will be the crashed transport on the other side of the valley. It may be partially obscured by some trees in the way but you will still be able to click and zoom in on it.
  • When heading over to the transport stay on the west side of the canyon and up the stone stairs. Going east along the wall just leads to more steep cliffs that aren’t climbable.
  • Your next objective is to recover the relics. The Tome of the Song Unheard drops from rogue droids immediately nearby, the Tome of Excruciations drops from Vorantiki to the north, and the Tome of Final Horizons will drop from Mawvorrs in the southern objective areas. The drop rate is exceptionally high.
  • Once all are found, head into the shrine at the western edge of the map. Head north once inside and follow the trail of blue clues up to the room in the north corner – defeat this Vorantikus to get the next item.
  • Head back to the Interpreter’s Retreat – each item will need to be placed onto a monument in the center of town one by one, then the mission will complete.

It’s Really Piling Up

Repeatable Gormak Mission

Tips

  • Muahahahahahaha
  • Acquire the Clean Up Droid from the terminal left of the mission board. You will get an astromech that will follow you around this area indefinitely. You will also need to pick up his control module nearby – which becomes a usable mission item (and temporary ability) near debris around these tents nearby.
  • Walk up to a debris pile and click the new temporary ability. Revel in the catharsis of a pile of junk well annihilated.
  • Sometimes the droid will miss and clean you instead. Heal up and simply try again.

Joint Efforts

Reconstruction Task

Tips

  • First you will be looting the Retreat for 3 different types of item. You’ll need 3 of any kind of food supplies (all directly to the right of the mission terminal), some tools (plenty of boxes just across from the food, around the corner) and some electronics equipment in and around the tents north of the terminal. Head to the far north of the map to where the Gormak are hanging out and hand them in.
  • At this point, you will be told to find the work board for the Gormak-specific missions, across from the drop-off terminal.  This mission becomes a meta-mission that simply keeps track of you helping out the Gormak with three other missions inside this guide. It will complete when all three are done. These three appear to be repeatable dailies.
  • Once all three are done, loot a crate of weapons by the initial hand-in terminal at the Gormak Camp and bring them back to the Retreat in the south.

Let Them Drink

Repeatable Voss Mission

Tips

  • This mission is pretty straightforward – head to the fountain you helped restore in “The Pressure’s Off” mission. Click the fountain to draw water, and then run a specific path back to the Retreat.
  • You will be ambushed by Mawvvors a few times on your way back. Really easy silver enemies, nothing special.
  • When back at the ramp leading to the Retreat, stop at each basin and fill a few glowing blue jugs on the sides of the stations to complete the mission.

Ongoing Threats

Repeatable Voss Mission

Tips

  • Run or Quicktravel over to the Shrine of Contemplation where you fought the Pallid Vorantikus.
  • Inside will be 5 workgroups noted on the map. Walking into each workgroup will “check in” on them automatically.
  • Some will be safe, some will be attacked once you get there. Clear out the enemies. Ambushes will either be a couple regular droids, a regular droid and a silver (strong) droid, or some weaker probes with a gold-level elite droid.
  • Once all 5 groups have been saved, the mission is complete.

Security Reboot

Repeatable Gormak Mission

Tips

  • First you will be looting some tools from the toolboxes stacked up on a table, under the tent east of the work board this mission comes from.
  • At this point, repairing the required items around the area is simple. Cameras and Sensors exist on all of the large supporting structures holding up the tent. Run around each leg and you’ll find plenty. They respawn fairly fast too.
  • The third objective will be to scan the perimeter with some binoculars. You will get a temporary ability to do so when stepping near the objective markers. It can take longer than the displayed cast bar to finish scanning, and some scans will result in an ambush to fight off. Fighting back isn’t an objective – stealthers can safely cloak away and head to the next one.

The Pressure’s Off

Reconstruction Task

Tips

  • If picking up multiple missions at once, quite a few around the retreat will tell you to get “tools”. The tools for this mission are straight north of the pickup, around some tents. There is a bag-shaped device and a datapad-like device near it. There are multiple stations with the tools available. Getting both will satisfy the “0/2 Tools” objective.
  • Once you head out of the retreat to the north and arrive at this broken fountain in the center of the map (pictured above), right click it to scan and find the problem. This will place three new markers on your map, at nearby bodies of water – to repair some intakes (pictured below). The first is by itself in the northeast – the next two are on either side of a waterfall surrounded by loader droids and mawvorrs. The higher intake can be accessed by continuing up the temple stairs nearby to get higher. You will likely also be ambushed by Czerka enemies.
  • Once repaired, you will need to travel back down the temple stairs into the ruins between the west side of the area and the fountain to check the glowing blue pipes for clogs. There are multiple pipes to check and it’s unclear how random the clogged one is.
  • Once found, your objective will become “attempt to fix the pipe”. Walk away from the pipe and come closer again and you should get some temporary abilities to try on the pipe. Kicking it and then welding shut the subsequent break seemed to progress the mission just fine.
  • Back at the fountain, a small valve on top of a box will need to be turned just next to the southwest corner of the fountain platform. Interact with it, come back to the fountain, and finish the mission.
