Training Dummy Locations in SWTOR

A training dummy is a special type of enemy in Star Wars: The Old Republic that has a lot of health and doesn’t fight back. It’s used to practice your attacks on, so you can get better at your class.

If you attack a default training dummy, you won’t be able to kill it, unless you modify its health, as all dummies start with around 100,000,000 health.

Ship Training Dummy

The most common training dummy players use to practice is their ship dummy. The ship dummy is a legacy-wide unlock you can get for all of your characters, located in the “Global Unlocks” section of your Legacy panel, in the “Other” section in the menu. When players say they are practicing on their ship dummy, they are usually referring to the Operations Training Dummy, which costs 500,000 Credits and Legacy Level 10 to unlock, just like its counterpart, the Warzone Training Dummy. The exact location of both training dummies varies based on what ships you have.

  • Your Level: 80 (or lower, if you are lower)
  • Operations Training Dummy: Level 80
  • Warzone Training Dummy: Level 80

Training Dummy Modulator

You can modify your ship training dummy using a set of items sold by the ship Repair Droid. The Ship Repair Droid is not available by default, and must be unlocked – it costs 1,000,000 Credits and requires Legacy Level 7. You can also visit a friend’s ship who has the droid and buy the items there without having to unlock the droid yourself. All the items are legacy-bound and only cost 1,000 credits each. The health-based modulators only apply to the Operations Training Dummy on your ship or in your strongholds, these items will not work on the dummies on the fleet or out in the open-world. There is also two healing modulators, which can only be used on the Healing Training Dummy, located in the Alderaan or Rishi stronghold, not on your ship.

In general, if you are practicing DPS, you will buy these items:

  • Training Dummy Armor Reduction Module
  • Training Dummy Advanced Health Modulator (6.5 million health)

Then you will select the dummy, and right click each of these items in your inventory to apply them, then attack. You will need to re-apply them every time the dummy resets. You can also place these items on your quickbar to save time.

IconItemDescription
Training Dummy Armor Reduction ModuleUse: Reduces armor of a stronghold or ship Operations Training Dummy by 20%, increases the damage it takes from Melee, Ranged, Force, and Tech attacks by 5%, increases the damage it takes from Internal and Elemental attacks by 7%, and increases the damage it takes from Area of Effect attacks by 10%. Using a second time removes the effect. VERY USEFUL! Used to mimic being in a group of players in an operation with all their various abilities weakening the boss. Use this if you are actually trying to parse your numbers.
Training Dummy Basic Health ModulatorUse: Sets a stronghold or ship Operations or Healing Training Dummy's health to 1,000,000 and temporarily removes any active Guild Perks from your character while you remain in the stronghold or ship. Traveling to a new area will restore your Guild Perks. Use this on the training dummy to give it 1 million health. Not super useful for parsing as the dummy won't stay alive along, but it can be nice to use the basic health modulator when you are first starting practicing so you get the satisfaction of killing the dummy.
Training Dummy Standard Health ModulatorUse: Sets a stronghold or ship Operations or Healing Training Dummy's health to 3,250,000 and temporarily removes any active Guild Perks from your character while you remain in the stronghold or ship. Traveling to a new area will restore your Guild Perks. Use this on the training dummy to give it 3.5 million health. Commonly used for parsing.
Training Dummy Advanced Health ModulatorUse: Sets a stronghold or ship Operations or Healing Training Dummy's health to 6,500,000 and temporarily removes any active Guild Perks from your character while you remain in the stronghold or ship. Traveling to a new area will restore your Guild Perks. Use this on the training dummy to give it 6.5 million health. Used for parsing.
Training Dummy Expert Health ModulatorUse: Sets a stronghold or ship Operations or Healing Training Dummy's health to 10,000,000 and temporarily removes any active Guild Perks from your character while you remain in the stronghold or ship. Traveling to a new area will restore your Guild Perks.Use this on the training dummy to give it 10 million health. Not used often for parsing.
Training Dummy Healing Invigorator ModuleUse: Using this item on a Healing Training Dummy will grant it, and any Secondary Targets associated with it, the "Invigorated" effect, which increases healing received by 3%. Only for the healing dummy, use this if you are practicing healing.
Training Dummy Secondary Target GeneratorUse: Using this item on a Healing Training Dummy will cause it to generate a Secondary Healing Target, allowing you to train for multi-target healing scenarios. A Healing Training Dummy can support up to seven Secondary Healing Targets (for a grand total of eight healing targets). Only for the healing dummy, better for simulating having a full operation team.
Reverse Bolster Master ModeUse: Reverse bolsters you down to Level 70 Master Mode. No longer useful, from a previous expansion.
Reverse Bolster Story ModeUse: Reverse bolsters you down to Level 70 Story Mode. No longer useful, from a previous expansion.
Reverse Bolster Veteran ModeUse: Reverse bolsters you down to Level 70 Veteran Mode. No longer useful, from a previous expansion.

Alderaan Stronghold Training Dummy

If you do not already have your own Alderaan Stronghold Training Dummy, you can go to the Strongholds & Crew Skills section of the Republic or Imperial Fleet, and access the Public Listings to travel to another player’s Alderaan Stronghold, and use their training dummy.

To get to the Alderaan Training Dummy, once you are in an Alderaan Stronghold, walk up the steps and into the castle, and take the elevator in a small room on the left side of the great hall. From there, you will travel outside towards some ruins, and the dummies are hidden inside the crumbling building. These are my favorite dummies to use apart from my ship dummy, as they are the least cramped.

  • Your Level: 80 (or lower, if you are lower)
  • Combat Training Target: Level 10
  • Operations Training Dummy: Level 80
  • Combat Training Target MK-10, east side: Level 80
  • Healing Training Dummy: Level 80

There does seem to be a bit of a bug with the Healing Dummy on Alderaan, as when you start the healing-fight, the two Healing Training Secondary Targets do not automatically lose their health as they should so you can heal them. Any Secondary Targets summoned with the Training Dummy Secondary Target Generator do lose their health correctly, though you can wind up with a total of nine secondary targets, two of which at full health.

Rishi Stronghold Training Dummy

If you do not already have your own Rishi Training Dummy, you can go to the Strongholds & Crew Skills section of the Republic or Imperial Fleet, and access the Public Listings to travel to another player’s Rishi Stronghold, and use their training dummy.

The Rishi Stronghold is unique in that it will automatically scale your stats up to level 80, even if you are a low level character. This stronghold was the first stronghold to have training dummies added, and they work kind of oddly – they do not exist at first, and you need to summon them with the terminal. This is my least favorite dummy, as if you stop attacking, the dummy will disappear and you will need to re-summon it from the terminal.

The Rishi dummies do have a perk of a built-in surrender button, which allows you to leave combat early.

To get to the Rishi Training Dummy, once you are in a Rishi Stronghold, use the small blue elevator button on the large wooden dock over the water to travel to the “Patrol Carrier: Main Deck”. The training dummy is located in a small room inside the floating ship.

  • Your Level: Scaled up to 80
  • Operations Training Dummy: Level 80
  • Warzone Training Dummy: Level 80
  • Healing Training Dummy: Level 80

The Rishi Stronghold also seems to have the most-functioning Healing dummy.

Fleet

The Training Dummies on the Republic and Imperial Fleet do not seem to actually take any damage, but they can be useful to practice on if you have not unlocked your ship dummy yet, as both you and the dummy are considered level 80.

The Imperial Fleet training dummies are located on the ship called the Ziost Shadow – you will need to take a taxi from the main fleet to reach it. Once on the Ziost Shadow, you will need to take the elevator to the Bridge deck.

The Republic Fleet training dummies are located on the ship called the Gav Daragon – you will need to take a taxi from the main fleet to reach it. Once on the Gav Daragon, you will need to take the elevator to the Bridge deck and then walk to the Training Area to the south east.

  • Your Level: Level 80 (or lower, if you are lower)
  • Combat Training Target MK, east side: Level 80
  • Combat Training Target MK-10, east side: Level 80
  • Operations Training Target MK-10, west side: Level 80
  • Warzone Training Target MK-5, west side: Level 80

Dromund Kaas and Coruscant

The Training Dummies on the capital planets do not seem to actually take any damage. They are not really recommended to be used and are leftover from the early days of the game.

The Dromund Kaas training dummies are located in Kaas City, behind the cantina.

The Coruscant training dummies are located near the senate building.

  • Your Level: Scaled down to Level 17 (or lower, if you are lower)
  • Combat Training Target: Level 10
  • Combat Training Target MK-2: Level 17
  • Combat Training Target MK-3: Level 17
  • Combat Training Target MK-4: Level 17

Korriban and Tython

The Training Dummies on the starter planets do not seem to actually take any damage. They are not really recommended to be used and are leftover from the early days of the game.

The Korriban training dummies are located on a secret path behind the taxi near the temple entrance. There are three dummies of the same type hidden there.

The Tython training dummies are located in the upper floor of the Jedi Temple,

Hutta and Ord Mantell do not seem to have any Training Dummies.

  • Your Level: Scaled down to Level 10 (or lower, if you are lower)
  • Combat Training Target: Level 10
