SWTOR Crew Skills in Flashpoints Guide

There are six Flashpoints in Star Wars: The Old Republic where you can use gathering Crew Skills to unlock shortcuts or allies to help you as you fight.

What are Crew Skills?

Crafting is a fun way to create new items in the game, from lightsaber crystals to cosmetic armor and dyes. There’s also a bunch of gathering skills that help you collect materials used to craft items. How to Craft Guide

As a bonus, many of these gathering skills let you unlock special features in some of the Flashpoints, including Archaeology, Bioanalysis, Scavenging and Slicing.

Previously, you needed to reach a certain level in that crew skill to use these bonus features, but now you just need to have level 1 of that crew skill unlocked.

Hammer Station

Having certain crew skills allows you and your group to skip enemies or get a boost during Hammer Station!

Lost Cultural Artifact –  Archaeology

If you have Archaeology, you can right-click a glowing blue tablet in a crate near the beginning of the Flashpoint to get a buff called Blessing of the Ancients, which heals you for 1% of your health every 6 seconds. This will apply to both your party members and companion(s).

It is located near the start of the flashpoint. Unfortunately, it’s out of the way of the main path, so most groups skip it rather than fighting the entire room.

Previously required Archaeology level 75 (Archaeology 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Archaeology level 1.

Detoxifying Filters – Bioanalysis

In the random side cave near the beginning of the flashpoint to the west, there is Detoxifying Filters glowing blue that you can use if you have Bionalysis.

This leads to an area that has a treasure chest – but the treasure chest has nothing useful inside, and has lots of enemies, and isn’t on the main path… so most groups skip this.

You can only go deep into the tunnel with the Detoxifying Filters, or you die.

The chest will likely contain some crafting materials or companion gifts or other similar l0w value items.

Previously required Bionalysis 80 (Bioanalysis 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Bioanalysis level 1.

Drill Power Generator – Scavenging

If any member of your group has Scavenging, you can manipulate a mining drill and go straight to the first boss, skipping the other hallway. This is an extremely common skip.

Previously required 45 Scavenging (Master Mode 450 Scavenging), now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Elevator – Slicing

Later in the Flashpoint, there’s an elevator to the left. Turning it on and using it to skip the next few packs of enemies requires Slicing, and is a common skip for this Flashpoint.

Previously required 80 Slicing (Master Mode 450 Slicing), now only requires Slicing level 1.

Athiss

Having certain crew skills allows you and your group to skip enemies or get a boost during Athiss!

Elevator – Slicing

If you have Slicing, you can slice the Elevator Controls and unlock the functioning elevator at the beginning of the Flashpoint to get down to the tombs more easily. Most group just jump down the broken elevator shaft instead though.

Previously required Slicing level 80 (Slicing 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Slicing level 1.

Snarlroot – Bioanalysis

If you have Bioanalysis, you can pick up the glowing blue onion-shaped plants called Snarlroot and get a an akk dog called Alchemical Snarler that can help you in battle!

Once you right-click the glowing blue plant, it will add the item to your Mission Items inventory, where you can right-click the item to summon the Snarler.

There are four of the Snarlroot plants hidden around the Athiss flashpoint, in the Ruins of Kressh map.

Each player can only have one dog out at a time, but you can stock pile the items. If your dog dies early, you can right–click the buff to remove it from your character, then right-click the second item to summon a second dog. The dogs only last about three minutes then they disappear. The Broken Droid will over-ride the Alchemical Snarler, you can’t have both at once.

Previously required Bioanalysis 75 (Bioanalysis 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Bioanalysis level 1. Onion dog.

Explosives or Ancient Actuator – Archaeology

If you have Archaeology, you can unlock the locked glowing blue door without having to get the explosives to the south by clicking the Ancient Actuator, which for some reason does not glow, it looks like a yellow lamp.

… otherwise you need to get the explosives marked on the map below.

Previously required Archaeology 75 (Archaeology 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Archaeology level 1.

There is also a second similar skip later in the flashpoint – after The Beast of Vodal Kressh, head down into the tomb behind it. Instead of taking the longer path to your left, a player with Archaeology can interact with the small crystal pictured above to open a shortcut that skips quite a bit. There’s no explosive satchel this time, so without archeology you’re going the long way around.

Previously required Archaeology 120 (Archaeology 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Archaeology level 1.

Lost Cultural Artifact – Archaeology

If you have Archaeology, you can right-click the Lost Cultural Artifact hidden in a collapsed tomb cave up a set of stair to the north of the blue door where you set the explosives. It is out of the way though, and not on the main path. It gives your team a buff:

Wrath of the Ancients – Damage done increased by 5%, lasts 10 minutes. Applies to your group too.

There’s another Lost Cultural Artifact with a different buff on the Ruins of Kressh map.  This one is also out of the way though, off of the main path. You can stack these two buffs.

Blessing of the Ancients – Heal 1% health every 6 seconds, lasts 10 minutes. Applies to your group too.

Previously required Archaeology level 125 (Archaeology 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Archaeology level 1.

Broken Droid – Scavenging

If you have Scavenging, you can right-click the glowing blue droid on the ground south of the area past the locked door – but he is out of the way in the wrong directive of the quest objective, so most groups do not go into this room.

If you get him, he will fight along-side you for 10 minutes or until he dies. He does not know how to stealth.

There is a second scavenging droid in a cave in the Ruins of Kressh map.

Previously required Scavenging 75 (Scavenging 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Mandalorian Raiders

Having certain crew skills allows you and your group to skip enemies or get a boost during Mandalorian Raiders!

Medical Droid – Scavenging

If you have Scavenging, you can right-click the glowing blue droid on the ground very early in the flashpoint.

He becomes a medical droid that will follow your group around for 10 minutes or until he dies, and he will heal you. There’s a second one further up too.

IMPORTANT!!!! These droids do not have a good concept of personal space or stealthing or being sneaky. The droid following you may trigger enemies by accident if you or your group are trying to sneak around them.

Previously required Scavenging 100 (Scavenging 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Lost Cultural Artifact – Archaeology

If you have Archaeology, you can right-click the Lost Cultural Artifact up a set of stair to the north of the blue door where you set the explosives. It gives your team a buff:

Blessing of the Ancients – Health regeneration increased. Heal the TARGET for (1% of its HP),

Previously required Archaeology level 165 (Archaeology 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Archaeology level 1.

Elevator Console – Slicing

If you have Slicing, you can right-click the elevator on the third map of the Flashpoint, and it will unlock a shortcut for your group.

Previously required Slicing level 150 (Slicing 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Slicing level 1.

Lots of players that run activity finder tend to bring characters with slicing, so make sure to stop before this terminal in-case a group member has Slicing to skip this whole bottom floor.

Previously required Slicing level 150 (Slicing 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Slicing level 1.

Cademimu

Having certain crew skills allows you and your group to skip enemies or get a boost during Cademimu!

Security Gate – Scavenging

If you have Scavenging, you can unlock the locked gate early in the Flashpoint by right-clicking the Security Gate. It allows you to bypass quite a few enemies.

Previously required Scavenging level 180 (Scavenging 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Holding Cell – Slicing

If you have Slicing, you can open the holding cells and free the Imprisoned Resistance Fighters. If you took the Scavenging route through the security gate, these are off the fastest path, so most groups skip them.

If you get him, he will fight along-side you for 10 minutes or until he dies. He does not know how to stealth. There are two slicing terminals but you can only have one Resistance Fighter, but if another player on your team also has slicing, they can get their own Mon Calamari fish man to follow them too.

Previously required Slicing level 200 (Slicing 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Slicing level 1.

Taxi – Slicing

If you have Slicing level 1+ you can use the Cruiser Security Console to open up a taxi that helps save you some time.

Previously required Slicing level 200 (Slicing 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Slicing level 1.

Fang – Bioanalysis

In the docks area of Cademimu, if you have Bionalysis, you can right-click the animal cage on one of the northern ship platforms, and an Akk Dog named Fang will follow you and help you fight! You can’t get Fang if you already have a Resistance Fighter.

He’s very squishy though, and will likely die quickly.

Previously required Bionalysis 200 (Bionanalysis 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Bionanalysis level 1.

Lost Cultural Artifact – Archaeology

If you have Archaeology, you can right-click the Lost Cultural Artifact in the crates south of the taxi on the loading dock. It gives you a buff called the Wrath of the Ancients which boosts you and your teams’ damage by 5%.

Previously required Archaeology 200 (Archaeology 450 in Master Mode), now only requires Archaeology level 1.

Colicoid War Game

Having certain crew skills allow you and your group to unlock some friendly helpers during Colicoid War Game!

Damaged Combat Droid – Scavenging

If you having Scavenging, you fix a glowing blue droid in a side hallway, after the turrets section of the Flashpoint. The Combat Droid won’t follow you, but it will go forwards and start shooting all the enemies ahead of you!

Previously required Scavenging level 325, now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Akk Dog – Slicing

If anyone on your team has Slicing, right before the terminal where you choose a Dark/Light decision, and right before the final boss arena room, you can slice a glowing blue Containment Cell Console by right-clicking it. This will give that player a small Akk Dog to fight along-side them during the final fight of the Flashpoint!

Previously required Slicing level 325, now only requires Slicing level 1.

Red Reaper

Having certain crew skills allow you and your group to skip enemies or get a boost during Red Reaper!

Lost Cultural Artifact – Archaeology

If you happen to have Archaeology or higher, on the very first map of the Red Reaper flashpoint, before the elevator room, on the left, there’s a room that has a crate with an artifact in it that will reduce incoming damage with a buff called Veil of the Ancients.

There’s another similar item after the second boss, on the left side of the two droids guarding the elevator.

Previously required Archaeology level 250, now only requires Archaeology level 1.

Broken Elevator Generator – Scavenging

If someone in your group has Scavenging, you can start up this elevator here that gets you up onto the catwalks above this room. From here you’ll see a path to a 2nd floor room that leads to the exit, eventually, via a ramp. NOBODY GOES THIS WAY. If someone in your group activates this elevator, you will use it to get higher, and then jump over the side towards a large imperial tank with treads in the middle of this cargo area: this might look like you’re only skipping three silver-level droids at the beginning, but it sets you up for another very common community skip next.

Previously required Scavenging level 250, now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Broken Droid – Scavenging

On the second big map, after the long airlock hallway, a side room has a Broken Droid you can use Scavenging level 300 on to repair.

This will give you a Repaired Battledroid that will follow you around and fight for you until it dies. IMPORTANT! The droid does not know how to stealth, and does not respect personal space.

Previously required Scavenging level 300, now only requires Scavenging level 1.

Forcefield Controls – Archaeology

If you’ve got an Archeologist in the group, you can interact with this large sith holocron after clearing the sith off of it, and it’ll turn off the red ray shields ahead of you. This enables you to go straight across the area instead of through the catwalks on the right-hand path. This may or may not be faster, though, because without sleep darts there’s quite a few enemies in the central area. Groups will sometimes sleep dart the Disciples on the extremes of the platform so the group can run behind the statues and altars.

Previously required Archaeology level 300, now only requires Archaeology level 1.
