SWTOR Destroyer of Worlds Uprising Guide

Destroyer of Worlds is an Uprising in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and is like a short, story-light Flashpoint with three bosses and a few surprises including the ability to bring a desert pet along for the fight. Destroyer of Worlds comes in three different difficulties: Story, Veteran and Master.

If you are new to Uprisings, you may want to first visit the basic Uprisings Guide for tips about the quests to pick up before you go in. For the most part, you don’t really need a guide for Uprising0s unless your group is struggling with a specific boss or you want to discover some secrets or achievements. Uprisings are meant to be very accessible and short, fun, run-and-gun missions.

⚠️ IMPORTANT GROUP NOTE! ⚠️ Both the first boss (Chief Engineer Penzaren) and the last boss (Jedi Master Adelade) will lock players out of the fight if they are not close enough when the fight starts. Make sure your team is all the way in the door / near the boss before running all the way up to the boss or attacking.

Companion: During this Uprising, while playing with less than a group of 4, my companion often seemed confused. If yours gets stuck, left-click the icon of blue crossed arms near your companion to put them on Passive so they come to you. Remove them from passive mode by clicking it again to get them to fight alongside you again once they have walked back to you.

How to Start

All Uprisings start at the glowing blue table in the Combat Training section of the Republic or Imperial Fleet. You can also enter the Groupfinder for Veteran Mode, just keep in mind if you filter for just Destroyer of Worlds, you won’t be eligible for the bonus groupfinder rewards for running a random Uprising.

Once you have picked up an Uprising, left-click the icon of a shuttle in your quest log to travel to the Uprising.

Difficulty Modes

  • Story Mode: Easiest mode, designed for four players but likely doable with 2 or more decent players in any roles and their companions.
    • Solo: I was able to solo the first boss as a damage player with some practice, but, the second boss was extremely annoying and kept knocking me out of bounds resetting the fight. As a tank, I had a very easy time with the first fight, especially when I ran it with a damage companion and paid attention to the mechanics – see the guide below!
  • Veteran Mode: Middle difficulty but not that much harder, designed for four players but likely doable with 2 or more decent players in any roles and their companions
  • Master Mode: Quite difficult mode, most groups will need a full four players, including 1 healer, 1 tank and 2 damage players. Very competent groups might be able to do it with 3 players and one companion. Your team should be decently geared, understand their class and role, and be ready to do some mechanics and stay out of bad stuff on the ground.

Destroyer of Worlds Power-Ups

While running Destroyer of Worlds, keep you eyes open for glowing blue crates with powerups inside.

To open a crate, you can right-click it, then walk over the item it reveals.

Once you’re carrying a power-up, you’ll get a temporary ability to use it, and you can get up to one of each kind. These crates will be hidden throughout the Uprising.

Demolition Droid

Start the Uprising by right-clicking the glowing blue toolbox to pick up a Droid Repair Kit. Everyone in your group can do this, and there will be more of these toolboxes hidden around the Uprising.

This will give you a temporary ability – it is greyed out, because you will use it on a repair droid later if it dies.

Clear the room and kill any nearby enemies, and ignore the red door.

Right-click the glowing blue Droid Control Station in the other room.

This will give you a D5-X Droid. He will only move when you move forward and are near him. He won’t wander into the boss areas.

If he dies, you can click him and then click the temporary repair ability. It’s a bit finicky, try it a few times and click it even if it is greyed out. It is only to be used when he falls over, not when he is low health.

Boss 1: Chief Engineer Penzaren

Make sure your team is all the way inside the room before you start the fight, or they will get locked out by a yellow door. If you have a companion they may get confused and not follow you so keep an eye on them.

When the Chief Engineer has a purple shield up, he is invulnerable and can not be hurt, so attack the other enemies.

When there are many smaller Keeper Droids around, if you see a special Keeper Droid that is red-colored with a silver star beside its nameplate will appear, killing it will cause all the other little Keeper Droids will all die. This special Keeper Droid doesn’t show up right away though.

Stay out of the red and yellow purification circles on the ground.

Once Penzaren’s shield is down, he’ll start summoning stealthed Keeper Droids – when they put up a red bubble around themselves, they will explode and do quite a bit of damage, so step away from them.

In Story Mode and Veteran Mode, there are two medpacs in the room if you need them.

Master Mode Tips

  • In Master Mode, one random member of the team will be silenced- preventing them from using an abilities. This happens when the boss casts Neural Scramble, which shows up as a yellow debuff on the silenced player. A different member of the team must right-click the glowing blue  button on either side of the room on the workshop tables, which will give them a temporary ability. They must then use that temporary ability while they have the silencer player selected.
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

The button, which only exists in Master Mode:

The debuff:

There will be a glowing blue clickable keyboard available after the fight to go forwards past the second red forcefield.

Boss 2: Skurr and Velloc

These bosses have a special mechanic. When one dies, the other can revive them after a 9-second timer called Primal Rejuvenation. This means you need to get them both to very low health, then kill one, then kill the other within 9 seconds.

Stay out of Velloc’s red conal attack and Skurr’s circular red attack, as it will hurt you and knock you back. Unfortunately, there are a lot of spots where if you get knocked back, it will reset the fight, and they’ll burrow out of the ground again at full health. I had this happen often when trying to solo story mode, I think aiming your body towards the side walls rather than the door or hallway helps.

Master Mode Tips

  • The fight is mostly in the same in Master Mode.
  • There are some small enemies that show up who will run up to a player and then explode. Step out of their red circles to avoid damage.
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

After the fight, there is a button you can right-click near the door to open it.

Dark Relics

The Destroyer of Worlds Uprising has a special secret bonus boss. To summon it, your team must find and right-click the six hidden Dark Relics.

The Dark Relics are glowing blue items with purple shadows coming out of them.

Dark Relics Locations

  • #1 is near the beginning, in the little room where you first get your droid
  • #2 is after Penzaren, behind a missile
  • #3 is on top of a crate behind some little crates
  • #4 is up on a little ledge
  • #5 is up high on top of some crates in the medical area near Skurr and Velloc
  • #6 is actually a relic chest beside Skurr and Velloc but isn’t clickable until they are dead. The final relic is inside the chest.

Once you have the final relic, you will receive a temporary ability to place the relics. Walk over to the glowing purple circle and click the ability to summon the bonus boss!

Bonus Boss: Caller in the Dark

To summon the bonus boss, you must find and use the Dark Relics (see above).

There’s no real mechanics for this boss in any of the modes, just defeat the little Void Whispers when you see them show up.

Boss 3: Jedi Master Adelade

Make sure your whole team is near Adelade before you start – you can skirt the wall near her without starting the fight. She will lock everyone in a circle with her and if the other players aren’t close enough, they will be locked out.

One player will be randomly selected to drop black swirly circles on the ground. That player should keep moving and move away from the other players. If you aren’t sure if you are the one dropping black circles, look for the blue debuff called Grim Cloud.

Master Mode Tips

  • Master Mode is mostly the same, just stay out of the bad stuff on the ground.
  • There are no medpacs in Master Mode.

Destroy Gethul

Once you have defeated the final boss Adelade, walk over to your floating droid, and it will wander over to the tentacles of Gethul and explode.

PS, jump in the hole after, it’s fun.

Story & Lore

Admiral Aygo: “Trouble on Makeb, Commander. A Jedi Master named Adelade dug up some kind of monstrosity buried deep inside the planet. They call this abomination “Gethul.” We’re talking giant tentacles, blaster-proof skin, and enough strength to destabilize the planet’s core. We’ve never seen anything like it. Adelade’s followers are trying to wake Gethul. You need to stop them. Deliver an explosive payload into the jaws of the beast-and blow it sky high.”

Admiral Aygo: “Be careful. Adelade’s followers will stop at nothing to destroy the payload.”
Jedi Master Adelade: “I see you, interlopers. Gethul sees you. His song fills us with light and calls for this world’s demise. You can’t stop his awakening. No one can.”

Jedi Master Adelade: “Engineer Penzaren has stopped the interlopers! Gethul sings his praise!”

Chief Engineer Penzaren: “Gethul is almost awake. Like you, I tried to stop him. Then I heard his song.”

Jedi Master Adelade: “Can’t you hear Gethul’s chant? He sings of Makeb’s ruin–and the death of the Alliance. The end is here, interloper!”

Admiral Aygo: “The Makeb crisis has been contained. Good work, Commander. Oggurobb will examine what’s left of the “Gethul” abomination. If it corrupted Adelade’s mind, we need to figure out how to guard against it. Either way, you did what was necessary. The Jedi had to be neutralized. Thanks to you, Makeb is safe.”

(The enemies in this Uprising who are the followers of Gethul are named Gethulan Dirge, Gethulan Hymn, Gethulan Requiem.)

Codex:

Subject: Gethul Entity
Status: Terminated (full autopsy pending)

Doctor Oggurobb’s investigations are ongoing, but initial findings revealed that the Gethul entity contained genetic markers from dozens of species, including dianoga, rathtars, and surprisingly, Rakata. This is particularly interesting as certain particulate matter found deep within the entity’s digestive tract is found only on the planet Belsavis, suggesting that the creature originated there and was at some point moved to Makeb, perhaps by the same Rakatans who constructed the Belsavis containment facilities.

The entity’s mental connection to Adelade and its sway over other biological creatures suggests some degree of Force sensitivity, further deepening the mystery of its origins and life cycle. Is this creature representative of an undiscovered species, or merely a unique creation of ancient Rakatan scientists? While we search for answers, one troubling mystery remains.

Adelade found the entity based on intel she received from an unidentified third party. This source sent her precise coordinates–and the claim that she would discover one of the Force’s greatest mysteries buried beneath Makeb. Who sent her this intel? If it was a friend, why cover their tracks? If an enemy, what did they hope to accomplish by luring Adelade into the heart of madness? We will continue to investigate.

Is this Uprisings related to the Terror from Beyond / Lotek’k?

Probably not. The Caller in the Dark bonus boss has the same model but seems to be a smaller version of the Terror from Beyond, but does not use any of the same abilities. Gethul’s tentacles are no the same as the Terror From Beyond, Dread Tentacles on Oricon from the Dread Masters. Gethul seems to be of Rakata origin mainly from Belsavis according to the codex.
