SWTOR Remote Trading Post Guide

In addition to the usual Cartel Market items being added to the game in Update 7.6, set to release early December, the developers have created a new type of Cartel Market bundle. This bundle includes a large number of cantina-themed decorations, two special pets, and even includes a way to unlock and upgrade the decoration you get from it by repairing the large cantina decoration through some lightweight gameplay. The developers wanted to let you bring some of the magic of Galaxy’s Edge back to your stronghold, that you may have seen at the Disney parks.

IMPORTANT! Unlike most bundled items in the game, these items, once you open the bundle, will all be permanently bound to your character. You will not be able to keep some of the decorations and pets, and sell the others.

Decorations

You’ll receive the “neglected” set of decorations immediately when you open the bundle, and can participate in a short quest to unlock the second set of repaired decorations – and you get to keep both, and use any of them in any of your strongholds.

Binds on Pickup: All of these items inside the bundle are bound once you open the bundle and are not buyable or sellable on the GTN. Only the two quest items associated with the bundle are Binds to Legacy, so you can choose which character to use them on.

Quest

There is a small set of quests attached to the Remote Trading Outpost Bundle that unlocks additional decorations.

Step 1 – Open the Remote Trading Outpost Decoration Bundle

You can either buy this item from the Cartel Market, or you may be able to find it on the GTN and buy it with credits from another player. The bundle item itself, the Remote Trading Outpost Decoration Bundle, is the only item that is Binds on Equip  – it’s the only item part of this quest and set of items that can be bought, sold, or traded with other players. Right-click the bundle in your inventory to open it.

This will give you a pile of items in your inventory.

Step 2 – Use Quest Item on the Character You Want to Quest On

The quest item has a green border and blue disc icon, and should be in your inventory from when you opened the bundle. It is called the “Contact the Manufacturer” Unlock item – to use it-right-click the item from your inventory.

The quest will tell you to:

  • Examine Damaged Fountain
  • Hint: Install Neglected Spire Basin in Stronghold

Tips:

  • There is a Fountain decoration. It is not this decoration.
  • The Remote Trading Outpost Spire Basin (Neglected) fits in a LARGE purple ground hook.

Once you have placed the Remote Trading Outpost Spire Basin (Neglected) down, it will be glowing blue. Right-click the glowing blue decoration.

Step 3 – Read the Owner’s Manual

To read the Owner’s Manual, left-click the icon of a piece of paper in your quest log, or right-click it from the Mission tab of your inventory. Before you do click it though, hovering over it will give you a hint for later in the quest if you want to read the text!

Step 4 – Perform Diagnostics

To Perform Diagnostics, stand near the glowing blue fountain you put down earlier, and click the temporary ability bar button.

Step 5 – Search for the Manufacturer

You need to find the Manufacturer. The quest does not tell you where it is. The hint of the planet location is in the Owner’s Manual – the name of the company is Mek-Sha Fine Furnishings.

Fly to the planet Mek-Sha. On Mek-Sha, you are trying to get to the center point of the map, an area called the Slugfall Cantina. The taxi you load in near may not fly there directly – you may need to walk a little bit forward and find the second taxi.

Once you get in that area, you will have an actual quest marker on your map.

You are looking for a glowing blue door on the wall.

Once you right-click the glowing blue door, you will use the nearby glowing blue button on the wall by right-clicking it.

You will access the comlink. You can choose whatever options you’d like to read. There is no way to fail the quest.

To continue the quest, choose:

  • Press a Key
  • Schedule Repairs
  • Yes
  • I don’t have a confirmation code.
  • I don’t have a purchase record archive code.
  • I don’t have a membershi number.
  • Enter “478294897” from your owners manual and your comlink information.
  • End transmission.

Step 6 – Check your comlink.

Your comlink is a glowing blue message alert to click.

Speak with the representative by choosing options from the list. You can choose whichever options you want.

Step 7 – Retrieve a Repair Droid

On Mek-Sha, taxi or quicktravel to the Refugee Camp area.

You are looking for some glowing blue boxes to right-click.

Step 8 – Perform Repairs

Head back to your stronghold where you put the glowing blue fountain basin down.

Right-click the glowing blue fountain.

Then use the “Deploy Repair Droid” temporary ability that should appear on your temporary ability bar, when you are near the fountain.

This will complete the quest and you will receive a quest reward with all the “repaired” decorations and the droid pet!

Step 9 – Use the Second Quest Item on the Character You Want to Quest On

When you finish the Contact the Manufacturer quest, you will get another quest called the “Do or Dianoga” Unlock item – to use it-right-click the item from your inventory.

Step 10 – Investigate the Sound

While standing near the glowing blue fountain you put down, press the icon of an ear ability on your temporary ability bar.

Step 11 – Use the Diagnostics Tool

While standing near the glowing blue fountain you put down, press the icon of a tool ability on your temporary ability bar.

Step 12 – Find Information on Dianogas

This quest step is very unclear, but you need to go to the Republic or Imperial Fleet, you find this out by clicking the icon of a Galaxy Map beside the quest instructions.

The quest terminal will be marked on the map, and is located in the Crafting and Crew Skills section, near the crafting trainers. Right-click the computer terminal.

You can read about the Dianogas or just click through the options.

Step 13 – Create a Suitable Habitat

You need to:

  • Collect sufficiently filthy water
  • Record soothing hum
  • Obtain Duraplast orb

These can all be found on Hutta, in the Minboosa district. Both Imperial and Republic players can fly to Minboosa – make sure to select it on the Hutta planet in the galaxy map.

From there, you can find the quest by following the quest markers on the map.

The filthy water is down the sewer tunnel, right-click the location under a glowing green arrow.

The orbs on the ground are right-clickable.

The hum is some machinery, right-click the spot below the glowing green arrow.

The right-click the radar recording dish.

Step 14 – Coax Out Dianoga

Head back to your stronghold where you put the glowing blue fountain basin down. Right-click it.

While standing near the glowing blue fountain you put down, press the icon of an ear ability on your temporary ability bar.

This will reward you with the Baba Dianoga pet!

The basin will stop glowing the next time you return to the stronghold.

New Hook

This new bundle is also adding a new type of stronghold decoration hook to the game – on the locations that have centerpiece and Starship Hooks, there will be a brand new layout that will accommodate the cantina decoration, but you can use it for anything.
