What will be in SWTOR 8.0?

When the SWTOR developers announced that they were working on 8.0, players excitedly asked for more details… and we’ve finally got a few!

When will Update 8.0 come out?

Update 8.0 will likely come some time around the game’s 15th Anniversary, which is December 2026. An exact date or even exact timeframe has not been announced yet. See the roadmap for the year’s schedule.

What will be in Update 8.0?

The developers have confirmed these things will be in the update, inclduing all the normal things you’d expect in an expansion:

• The next Era of SWTOR story (continuation of 7.9 and something new for 8.0)
• Level 85
• New Abilities for every Discipline
• Class balancing
• New gearing system
• New 3-boss Operation in Story and Veteran Mode (plans for Master Mode)
• New Planet: Ryloth, Home of the Twi’leks, explorable with Dynamic Encounters

3-boss Operation

The developers are working on a new 3-boss operation for 8.0. It will release in Story and Veteran Mode, and they have plans to also release a difficult Master Mode. This is content designed for large-group playstyles. The developers have not said anything about the theme, bosses, setting or story.

Their goal is to get the 8.0 Operation on the PTS (Public Test Server) in the Summer, with the op being one of the first things on the PTS, likely along with level cap increase and at least some of the new abilities and class changes.

Ryloth

The developers have said Ryloth is content focused on solo or small-group players, an exporable planet with Dynamic Encounters across the entire planet. The planet will have ties to the story, so will have spoilers, and the Dynamic Encounters are special in some way.
