Story – Republic Instructions

Requirements: To play the Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoint in the story, and receive all the special cutscenes related to the Flashpoint in the story, you will need to be level 53+ and on the correct step of the Forged Alliances / Prelude: Shadow of Revan storyline. If you are below this level, or not on the correct quest step, you can not play the story quest for this Flashpoint. *** BUG? At the moment, as of Update 7.7.1 to start the Prelude: Shadow of Revan, you must have first completed your Class Story, the Ilum Prelude, and the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion. Before that, you just needed to be the right level. It is unclear if this is a permanent change or not.

Timeline: In the story, this Flashpoint takes place specifically as part of the Shadow of Revan expansion, in the section called the Prelude, which is technically before the expansion.

Bring a Friend: If you want to bring a friend along for this Flashpoint in Story Mode to do the full story line, you easily can.

If they have not done the Legacy of the Rakata storyline / Shadow of Revan Prelude / Forged Alliances storyline, they can join you in a group and you can follow the exact same steps together as long as they are level 53+.

If they have already run the storyline, they’ll be able to join you in the cutscenes after talking to the first droid, by walking in the door for the Colonel Daroks quest. Then after you finish that cutscene with them watching, you’ll be able to enter the Flashpoint, but your friend won’t have any quests so they can’t walk in behind you… tell them to go talk to the nearby R0-P6 droid and pick up the [Start Story Mode] quest and then they will be able to enter the Flashpoint with you.

They can also use the Solo tab in the Activity Finder to quickly join you once you are already inside the Flashpoint as long as they are level 53+.

Legacy of the Rakata has three boss fights – Savage War Beast rancor and War Chief Rehkta, the Bonus Boss: Infinite Army Prototype, Commander Rand and his Infinite Army, and the final bosses Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous.

In story mode, and in Veteran Mode when you have multiple players you can use the medpacs scattered around the bosses. Right-click them to heal yourself.

The following boss info is mainly for story and Veteran mode – Master Mode tactics are not covered in this guide.

Rancor

The Savage War Beast and War Chief Rehkta are the first fight – just do your best to stay out of the fire on the ground,

Rakata Weapon Caches

If you can’t find the Rakata Weapon Caches, they are marked on the map. Look for a glowing blue crate you can right-click.

Bonus Boss: Infinite Army Prototype (Master Mode Only)

This boss can be a bit difficult and has a lot of health.

When he is casting Unstable Barrier, he does a lot of damage to anyone nearby.

The idea is you can run outside and hide behind the “corn” plants. But every time you run outside, it also summons some smaller Scavenger womprat enemies.

Some groups get around this by instead hiding behind a pot/vase during the attack, to hide from the damage.

Commander Rand

Commander Rand puts down red circles – you can bring the smaller enemies into them to set them on fire.

Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous

Nothing special to know about this fight!

Master Mode: In Master Mode, the only major difference in this fight is there will be blue circles on players – these two players should stay away from each other.

Don’t forget to right-click the tiny blue button on the green computer to finish the Flashpoint after the fight!

To leave, right-click the glowing pillar. If the pillar is not visible (it was missing in Master Mode)…

You can use the nearby shuttle or use the Exit Area button.

Bonus Quest (Master Mode)

There is a simple bonus quest and bonus boss in Master Mode. To unlock it, defeat a bunch of enemies, and then there will be a bonus boss named Infinite Army Prototype, who is after the rancor boss and the rakata caches but before the second boss.

Skips

What follows are a quick gallery of images depicting specific walking routes that may save you some time by avoiding enemies during the flashpoint – certain routes will be highlited as the main “community routes” that you’ll probably see players in random activity-finder groups try to do – if you only practice one skip out of all of these, make it the community one! All of the following images are done without stealth or without a sleep dart/mind maze from a stealth character, so anyone can attempt them. If you fail to slip by unnoticed or see your team has attacked the enemies – always pull back from these routes and go back to help them defeat them! These may save time if everyone does them, but nothing makes a flashpoint slower than running ahead and not helping others to get out of combat again.

Solo Stealth: If you are playing Legacy of the Rakata alone and are on a Stealth character, or with a full stealth group, you can skip many of the enemies. There’s a couple areas where they will pop out of nowhere, but otherwise have fun sneaking!

Skip #1

Things start off pretty simple on Rakata Prime – there’s a big ol’ rock in the way of the initial path and if you aren’t caring about bonus objectives and ready to skip you can simply go left through the neutral flappy enemies instead of fighting the jungle stalkers. On the other side of the rock, one will be in your way. Just walk through the puddle across from him and you’ll get around and into the wrecked ship fine.

Skip #2

Once you get into the ship wreckage, there will be one unmissable rakata group inside, as well as another just on the other end. Past those two though, the skipping starts again by jumping on this rock to your right and going behind the trees. If you’re on story mode, a combat support droid may mess this one up by walking on the path.

Skip #3

Past the lazy river rakata, you’ll approach a nice scenic beach to run down. There’s going to be this huge jet-engine-like ship part and a bunch of stalkers on the coast. You can get around this by running behind the ship wreckage. You’ll briefly be in the “turn back or die” exhaustion zone, but as you round the object it’ll clear up.

Skip #4 – Community Skip

On the way up from the beach you’ll see tons players hop up onto this shelf of foliage and ignore the next two groups of rakata on the path. Just stick between the cliff and the trees and you’ll skip two packs on your way to the little Tribal Village ambush up ahead. That’s not skippable, sorry.

Skip #5 – Advanced

After the first boss, the Rancor/Rakata duo, there will be a group of rakata guarding the pathway up to the rest of the flashpoint ahead. You can skip them by hopping up the cliff on the right and going over their heads. The jumps require a bit of finesse, though, and the combat support droid on story mode may betray you (this is what happened upon jumping the path again in reverse to take the screenshot, hence the abscence of enemies in the image. The skip DOES work, but depending on jumping skill you may go faster just fighting.)

Skip #6 – Uber Advanced Do Not Attempt

Once you’ve gotten to the section of the flashpoint that demands destroying four Rakata Weapon Caches before moving on, you can technically skip the pack outside of the ruined building by jumping back onto the temple stone, onto the cliff behind the building, and then leaping from the cliff wall over the building and into the gold-level enemies guarding the cache. Then, jump onto the crumbled walls and off the side to get back out without fighting the pack on the floor. There’s a 9/10 chance you fall down off the cliff in the back and get stuck and have to leave, and a 100% chance a random group member will fight the guys on the floor anyway. This saves basically no time for what you have to do to learn it. But it’s possible!

Skip #7 – Community Skip

Going back to realistic and sensible skips, lots of players can be seen jumping onto the gold trim on the walls once you’re climbing the temple at the end of the flashpoint. By doing so you can hug the corners and get around a few packs of enemies. Once again, the combat support droid on storymode hates cowardice and will dive right into the enemies instead of scurrying around on the walls with you.

Rewards

In addition to the usual rewards of XP, credits, gear and end-game currency, Legacy of the Rakata has the following rewards available.

Potted Tree: Rakata Palm Decoration

The Potted Tree: Rakata Palm decoration is an automatic reward for completing the repeatable solo-friendly [STORY] mode, picked up through the Activity Finder. It can also be bought and sold on the GTN.

Aquatic Sleen

The Aquatic Sleen is a very rare drop from the Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoint. Players have reported them even dropping from Solo mode to Master Mode. It does seem to be Bind to Legacy so if you win it on one character you can send it to another one of your characters.

I even got lucky and had one drop while writing this guide!

Prismatic Mewvorr

The Prismatic Mewvorr is a rare drop from the Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoint. It seems to be Bind on Equip, so you may be able to trade it between characters or buy and sell it on the GTN.

BA-2 Command Walker

The BA-2 Command Walker and KX-7 Command Walker both drop from the Assault on Tython, Korriban Incursion, Depths of Manaan, and Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoints. I have even seen a player report that it dropped from Battle of Rishi. The BA-2 Command Walker (white/red) seems to drop mostly Republic side, the KX-7 Command Walker (black) seems to drop mostly Imperial side, though a few players have reported they had both drop on the same faction. Players reported that they seemed to drop most often in the Assault on Tython Flashpoint on either faction.

KX-7 Command Walker

Master Mode

Master Mode Legacy of the Rakata is almost exactly the same as Story/Veteran Mode Legacy of the Rakata , except for these differences:

  • The enemies are stronger and have more health
  • There is the bonus quest to kill enemies, then a bonus boss right before the second boss
  • The first two bosses don’t seem to have more mechanics
  • The final boss, Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous, does have one special new mechanic – don’t overlap the bright blue circles to avoid damage.

Codexes

Rakata Prime

Many thousands of years ago, in the sparsely populated Tempered Wastes of the Unknown Regions, the first galactic authority was born on Rakata Prime. Named for its once-predominant species whose Infinite Empire ruled for millennia over hundreds of worlds, the planet is now a dangerous tropical wasteland, ravaged by weapons of mass destruction and overrun with deadly beasts and savage Rakata.

While few traces of the advanced Rakatan civilization exist on the planet today, it is undoubtedly a treasure trove of lost knowledge and technologies–and not just their own. A nullifying field once employed by the Rakata commonly disrupted the navigational systems of orbiting vessels, causing them to crash into the planet. As a result, Rakata Prime has become something of a starship graveyard.

Temple of the Ancients

No one knows for certain how long the Temple of the Ancients has stood, which is hardly a surprise. Much of the history of Rakata Prime–and that of its one-time conquerors who placed the galaxy into servitude–has remained undiscovered. What is known of the temple is its relatively recent history.

A tribe of Rakata known as the Elders had charged themselves with guarding the temple from other tribes, even though their species no longer had the affinity with the Force required to enter their ancestors’ hallowed repository. The Elders held that the temple’s secrets must be too important to fall into less civilized hands than theirs. It was this tribe that allowed the Jedi Revan to enter the temple and learn how to destroy the corrupted Rakata superweapon known as the Star Forge. It’s unclear what has happened to the tribe in the three hundred years since then as the Temple of the Ancients is no longer under their protection.

Infinite Army

Since its destruction, many have sought to own pieces of the fabled Star Forge–an automated Rakata shipyard capable of infinite manufacturing. A Selkath experimenting with cybernetic applications using Rakatan technology was one of those looking to harness the Star Forge’s immeasurable power. With the shipyard’s self-replicating properties, the Selkath theorized implementation of its parts could allow his test subjects to survive the grafting process, and to achieve virtual immortality. When the Order of Revan made a piece of the Star Forge available to him, the Selkath was able to prove his theories and the Infinite Army was born.

This is not the first time the notion of an Infinite Army was conceived. A tormented Jedi looking to destroy the Sith Emperor once appropriated a long-abandoned Rakata foundry built into an asteroid. However, his reputed plan to use the foundry to build an “infinite army” of extermination droids was ultimately prevented.

Rakata Tribes

In the face of near-extinction and the mysterious loss of Force sensitivity among most of their kind, the Rakata retreated to their homeworld, where they focused their cruel aggressions on one another, descending further into ruin. When the dust of global war settled, all that remained of the galactic tyrants was a collection of barbaric and ruthless Rakata tribes that has dominated the planet for more than twenty thousand years.

Some tribes reside in isolation, hidden deep within the jungle islands of Rakata Prime. Others are more aggressive, seeking to conquer and assimilate as many other tribes as possible, uniting the world under their rulership–an echo of their technologically advanced ancestors’ attempt at galactic supremacy. Eventually, the dominating tribe’s control becomes stretched too thin and the sub-tribes revolt, breaking free until the cycle inevitably repeats.
