Cybertech Crafting Materials Guide

There are over 75 materials that Cybertech crafters can use when crafting mods, enhancements, earpieces, and all the other miscellaneous items Cybertech can craft. This guide will go through all the ways to get materials for Cybertech in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and a list of every Cybertech crafting material and how to get it.

Materials Bay

An important thing to know about all crafting materials is that they don’t go in to your inventory most of the time – instead they automatically go in to a special type of bank called your Materials Bay.

To open your Materials Bay, click the symbol of a diamond on the top left of your inventory.

This Materials Bay is shared by all your characters on your server and anything you craft will automatically pull from your Materials Bay supply. You may have even already earned some Cybertech crafting materials while you were playing that went straight to your crafting bay!

Crew Skill Missions

You can send your companions out to gather materials for you. Once you have picked up the Scavenging and Underworld Trading crew skills, you can open the crafting panel with the B key on your keyboard.

Your companion’s influence level affects a lot of the crafting activities, and you can see your companion’s influence in the circles on the right. A companion with a high influence level can craft and gather faster, have a chance of crafting double items or an augmented items, and a better chance of succeeding and bringing back a better reward from gathering missions. To learn more about raising your companion’s influence, check out my Companion Gift Guide video.

Scavenging

Scavenging will provide you with the Scavenged Metal and Scavenged Compounds you need for Cybertech crafting.

Scavenged Compounds
Silica material, from Patch Plastoid material, from Patch Lacqerous material, from Patch Fibermesh material, from Patch Polyplast material, from Patch Zal Alloy material, from Patch Turadium material, from Patch Molytex material, from Patch Polished Laminoid material, from Patch Polished Chanlon material, from Patch Premium Tempersteel material, from Patch Prototype Tempersteel material, from Patch Artifact Tempersteel material, from Patch
Scavenged Metals
Desh material, from Patch Bronzium material, from Patch Phobium material, from Patch Bondite material, from Patch Electrum material, from Patch Durasteel material, from Patch Mythra material, from Patch Farium material, from Patch Polished Aluminium material, from Patch Polished Plasteel material, from Patch Premium Duranium Plating material, from Patch Prototype Duranium Plating material, from Patch Artifact Duranium Plating material, from Patch

Crew Skill Missions

If you open up your Scavenging missions by clicking the Scavenging icon on your crafting panel, you’ll notice that the missions tell you what they reward – in this case, your first two available missions reward Grade 1 Scavenged Metals and Grade 1 Scavenged Compounds, which is exactly what the first schematic you need to craft as a Cybertech requires. Scavenging missions can also get you the white-bordered Flux for cheaper than you can get it from the Crew Skills Vendor.

You can send your Companions out to gather by double-clicking the gathering mission.

More missions will unlock as you level up your Scavenging skill by sending your companions out on missions or by gathering materials in the open world. Here are the levels at which the next Grade of materials are unlocked…

  • Grade 1 Materials: Scavenging level 1
  • Grade 2 Materials: Scavenging level 80
  • Grade 3 Materials: Scavenging level 160
  • Grade 4 Materials: Scavenging level 240
  • Grade 5 Materials: Scavenging level 300
  • Grade 6 Materials: Scavenging level 350
  • Grade 7 Materials: Scavenging level 400
  • Grade 8 Materials: Scavenging level 450
  • Grade 9 Materials: Scavenging level 500
  • Grade 10 Materials: Scavenging level 550
  • Grade 11 Materials: Scavenging level 600

Open World

In addition to getting crafting materials from sending your companions out on crew skill missions, with Scavenging, you’ll also be able to pick up discarded piles of metal scrap you find on the ground in the open world by right clicking them. The closer your Scavenging level is to the recommended level of the material, the more materials you will get, so you can gather higher-level materials, but you won’t get very many if you have a low Scavenging level.

How to Scavenge

You can spot materials in the open world by looking for the star symbol on your mini map, or the star symbol in a small radius around your large map, or watching out for scrap piles of metal with blue glowing text near them. You can right click these to send your companion to go get them, and you can even gather a different node by right clicking it and gather it yourself as your companion gathers a different one. If you can’t see the yellow star shapes on your map, you may need to open your map with the M key and check the “Resource” checkbox on the bottom left.

Not all items can be gathered from the open world. Your second related gathering skill, Underworld Trading, will only allow you to gather materials by sending your companions out on missions – you’ll never find Underworld Trading materials out in the open world.

Scavenging Planets

SWTOR Crafting Materials Gathering Guide (by all planets and material grades)

Here is an easy list of worlds where you can find Scavenged Metal and Scavenged Compound materials to gather for free. This is a quick summary of Kel Gryphon’s in-depth guide with videos which you can see here.

  • Grade 1 Scavenging Materials: Tython (Republic – Heroic for Jedi, Runs of Kaleth otherwise, kill droids), Coruscant (Republic – Jedi Temple), Korriban (Empire – Tomb of Tulak Hord droids), Dromund Kaas (Empire)
  • Grade 2 Scavenging Materials: Nar Shaddaa (Nikto Sector and Red Light District – also has Grade 3), Taris (Republic – Brejik’s Run) and Balmorra (Empire – Sundari flatlands)
  • Grade 3 Scavenging Materials: Nar Shaddaa (Nikto Sector and Red Light District – also has Grade 2), and Alderaan (Palista Spaceport)
  • Grade 4 Scavenging Materials: Balmorra (Republic – Sundari flatlands) and Taris (Empire – Brejik’s Run)
  • Grade 5 Scavenging Materials: Belsavis (High Security droids), Voss (Old Paths map – also has Grade 6)
  • Grade 6 Scavenging Materials: Voss (Old Paths map – also has Grade 5), Corellia (Axial Park and Government District), Ilum (south of the Republic post and North of the Imperial post – also has Grade 7)
  • Grade 7 Scavenging Materials: Ilum (south of the Republic post and North of the Imperial post – also has Grade 6), Makeb (Gravity Hook Four heroic droids)
  • Grade 8 Scavenging Materials: Yavin 4 (Massassi village)
  • Grade 9 Scavenging Materials: Darvannis (skip Zakuul)
  • Grade 10 Scavenging Materials: Iokath and Ossus (Farms)
  • Grade 11 Scavenging Materials: Onderon and Mek-Sha (Brzo’s Wells)

Underworld Trading

Underworld Trading is where you get the Underworld Metals needed for Cybertech. Underworld Trading crew skill missions work almost the same way as Scavenging missions – the only difference is that you can not find Underworld Trading materials out in the open world. More Underworld Trading missions will unlock as you level up your Underworld Trading skill by sending your companions out on missions.

Underworld Metals
Terenthium material, from Patch Agrinium material, from Patch Mullinine material, from Patch Alusteel material, from Patch Xonolite material, from Patch Krayt Dragon Scales material, from Patch Titanium material, from Patch Neuranium material, from Patch Quadranium material, from Patch Promethium material, from Patch Ciridium material, from Patch Mandalorian Iron material, from Patch Frasium material, from Patch Beryllius material, from Patch Trimantium material, from Patch Doonium material, from Patch Vandinite material, from Patch Zakuulan Durasteel material, from Patch Hadrium material, from Patch Madilon Ingot material, from Patch Premium Fibrolite material, from Patch Prototype Fibrolite material, from Patch Artifact Fibrolite material, from Patch

Heads up, Underworld Trading can get you both Luxury Fabrics and Underworld Metals, so if you only want Cybertech materials, don’t send your companions out on every mission available. Here are the levels at which the next Grade of materials are unlocked…

  • Grade 1 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 1
  • Grade 2 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 80
  • Grade 3 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 160
  • Grade 4 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 240
  • Grade 5 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 300
  • Grade 6 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 350
  • Grade 7 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 400
  • Grade 8 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 450
  • Grade 9 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 500
  • Grade 10 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 550
  • Grade 11 Underworld Metals: Underworld Trading level 600

Slicing

You will occasionally need Slicing materials to craft more complicated Cybertech schematics. As you can only take three crew skills at a time, if you took Cybertech, Underworld Trading, and Scavenging, you won’t have any more room to take another skill.

Sliced Tech Parts
Power Tube material, from Patch Memory Core material, from Patch Augmentation Chip material, from Patch Cybernetic Interface Jack material, from Patch Augment Modification Enhancer material, from Patch Power Capacitor material, from Patch Sonic Imprint Sensor material, from Patch Vacierite Memory Core material, from Patch Energy Converter material, from Patch Lanthanide Modulator material, from Patch Subelectronic Data Module material, from Patch Advanced Neural Augmentor material, from Patch Bio-Mechanical Interface Chip material, from Patch Thermal Regulator material, from Patch Biocell Memory Core material, from Patch Adaptive Circuitry material, from Patch Givin Hypercalculator material, from Patch Siniteen Info-scraper material, from Patch Code Recombinator material, from Patch Signal Disruptor material, from Patch Premium Data Spike material, from Patch Prototype Data Spike material, from Patch Artifact Data Spike material, from Patch

Here’s the different ways you can get Slicing materials:

  • A second character takes the Slicing skill, and sends companions out on missions
  • GTN
  • Jawa Junk
  • Slicing Materials only come from missions, not open-world gathering or conquest decorations (those only reward credits)

Crew Skills Vendor – White-bordered Materials

White-bordered materials are a bit different – you can either send your companions to gather them if you have a mission available for them from Scavenging, or buy them directly from a vendor called the Crew Skills Trade Vendor in the Strongholds & Crew Skills section of the fleet who sells them pretty cheap.

Fluxs
Conductive Flux material, from Patch Insulating Flux material, from Patch Brazing Flux material, from Patch Thermoplast Flux material, from Patch Tricopper Flux material, from Patch Vanadium Flux material, from Patch Endothermic Flux material, from Patch Protonic Flux material, from Patch Premium Flerovium Flux material, from Patch Prototype Flerovium Flux material, from Patch Standard Flerovium Flux material, from Patch

GTN

Crafting Materials can also be bought and sold on the GTN.

Buying Materials: To buy materials from other players, you can go to the Fleet, and go to the Galactic Trade Market section of the map. Once there, right click the big green terminal, and then click in the search box. If you’re looking for a specific material, and aren’t having luck with your crew skill missions, or want to get ahold of the materials quicker, you can type the name of the crafting material in to the GTN, click search, then sort by price per unit lowest to highest. Even better, if you have the schematic window also open, click in to the search box, and SHIFT+LEFT CLICK on the material to automatically put the name of the material in to the GTN search box.

Selling Materials: If you want to make some easy credits, you can sell any materials you aren’t using on the GTN to other players who are crafting – just remember to set the sell price to the number of materials you are selling times the price you want to sell them each at. To take crafting materials out of your Materials Bay to sell, open your Materials bay, and right-click the item. To split a pile of materials or any other item, SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK the pile and type in how many you want to separate out. For normal crafting materials, like what you get from Scavenging, players usually want to buy them in piles, rather than 1 by 1.

Jawa Junk

Jawa Scraps are a type of currency that you can turn in for crafting materials. There are three types of this currency, green, which is called Scavenged Scrap, blue, which is called Assorted Droid parts, and purple, which is called Jawa Junk, which is also what players often call this type of currency. Jawa Scraps can come from many sources, but the most common is by completing your Conquest goal for the week. Almost all crafting materials can be bought with Jawa Scrap, and each type of material costs different amounts.

To spend your Jawa scrap, head to the Fleet, and go to the Cartel Bazaar, which is the northern elevator Republic side and the Southern elevator Imperial side. There you’ll find a group of Jawa vendors who will sell you materials for scrap. Turning scrap in to materials and then selling the materials is also a great easy way to make credits.

All green, blue, and purple Scavenging and Underworld Trading materials Grades 1 – 11 are available from the Jawas at varying prices. Be warned – the Grade 11 materials are very expensive.

Conquest Decorations

You can also get a special type of decoration from Conquest that is like an open world gathering node – but you can place it down in your stronghold and you can gather from a few of them every four hours or so. Some of these decorations reward specific materials, while others can give you a variety of materials in a certain gathering skill. All conquest crafting decorations can be bought and sold on the GTN.

Cybertech can gather Scavenging materials Grades 1 – 8 from Conquest Decorations.

There are Slicing decorations but they only award credits.
