Augments are a crafted item that allow you to additional stats to your armor in Star Wars: The Old Republic. To get augments, you either need to buy them from other players or craft them yourself. In this guide, we’ll be covering how to craft level 80 augments for yourself including where to get the schematics and materials.

GTN vs Craft Yourself
If you are looking to get augments for yourself, it is often cheaper to outright buy your augments on the GTN rather than attempting to craft them yourself. This is because the act of crafting nicer augments requires levelling up to rank 700 crafting, and reverse-engineering, which is an expensive process, and occasionally purchasing the materials for augments exceeds the cost of what they are being sold for on the GTN. This changes over time, with game and gear updates, and with supply and demand, so if you are just looking to acquire some augments, check the GTN first! You may find you can just buy them instead of following all the steps below to craft them. The list of which augments are available is at the bottom of the page.
If you are new to crafting, you will want to visit the How to Craft Guide first!
Do you need augments?
No. No content in the game requires augments. The fights are actually designed with the assumption you do not have them.
Players who are working on the most difficult content in the entire game often invest in getting augments, especially if they are playing with a team. Even if you are playing simple solo content though, adding augments to your gear will give you a boost in combat. Some players like to gear and and augment their gear even if they don’t need it, as part of enjoying progressing within the game.
Which augments should you craft?
There are currently three tiers of high-end augments available for level 80. The first tier is a great set of entry-level augments which you can start crafting fairly easily and shouldn’t be too hard to get or buy the schematic, while the later two tiers require a harder-to-get schematic, as well as multiple different crew skills. Which ones you decide to craft will likely depend on how much work and organizing you want to do, and how many credits you want to spend on acquiring materials you don’t already have. Even the basic level 80, Augment 83 entry-level augments are better than anything else currently in the game! As a rule of thumb, “some” augments are a TON better than “no augments” – so you can get a great boost just by buying or crafting the cheapest high-level augments you can get, they don’t even need to be the level 80 ones.
As for which type of augments within a tier you should craft, that depends on both your current role and your current stats. Each type of role, tank healer and damage, each require different types of stats, and aim for different percentages or thresholds in their character sheet. Augments are often used to bolster or shore up your existing stats, to get them closer to the desired numbers, as they are easier to adjust with their smaller stat numbers than swapping out an entire piece of gear. - Healers: Alacrity or Critical
- Tanks only: Absorb or Shield (and Redoubt but no one uses them)

Tier 83 Blue Augments
Once you have the schematic, these “baby blue” augments take about 17 minutes to craft each with a leel 50 influence companion.
Augment 83 augments require:
- The correct crafting crew skill for the augment you want to make (see chart above)
- The schematic, which drops from Propagator Core XR-53 on Story difficulty and can be bought or sold on the GTN
And each Augment 83 needs these materials:
- A handful of Components from your crew skill
- 5 Solid Resource Matrix
- 5 Processed Isotope Stabilizers
Both Solid Resource Matrix and Processed Isotope Stabilizer can be found on the GTN. Here are some more ways to get them:
Solid Resource Matrix can be gotten from the Jawa Junk vendor for x30 Scrap: Jawa Junk (purple). Jawa Scrap Guide and Tips
Processed Isotope Stabilizers can be gotten from the Jawa Junk vendor for x20 Scrap: Assorted Droid Parts (blue). Jawa Scrap Guide and Tips
You can also trade 25 Tech Fragments for Processed Isotope Stabilizers, but it’s not necessarily a good deal – you might want to save those for other things.
You can also get Processed Isotope Stabilizers from Flashpoint bosses, including even story mode solo Flashpoint bosses.
You would need 100 blue Jawa Scrap, and 150 purple Jawa Scrap for each augment.
Tier 83 Blue Augments Reverse Engineer?
When you roll over the Blue 83 augments that you have crafted, they say there is a small chance, a 5% chance, that you can reverse engineer them to get a new schematic. The developers did not mention this in their posts so I am unsure if it is on purpose or not and did not get lucky when trying it myself. So I am unsure if it is just a text bug or if you could get the Blue 86’s yet.
Tier 86 Blue Augments
Augment 86 augments require:
- The correct crafting crew skill for the augment you want to make (see chart above)
- The schematic, which drops from Propagator Core XR-53 on Veteran difficulty and can be bought or sold on the GTN
And each Augment 86 needs these materials:
- A handful of Components from your crew skill
- 1 CM-1337, which is only crafted by Cybertechs or purchased on the GTN and requires:
- 5 OEM-37, which each cost 1,800 Tech Fragments or Credits on the GTN
- 5 RPM-13, which each cost 1,800 Tech Fragments or Credits on the GTN
- 5 Legendary Embers, which each cost 3,000 Tech Fragments or Credits on the GTN
- 1 Overclocked Biostabilizer, which is only crafted by Artificers or purchased on the GTN and requires:
- 2 Corrupted Bioprocessor (dropped from Propagator Core XR-53 or Credits on the GTN)
- 4 Artifact Lustrous Artifice Bonded Attachment
- 8 Artifact Hurrikaine Artifice Bonded Crystal
- 2 Legendary Embers
- 1 Purified Bioessence, which is only crafted by Biochemists or purchased on the GTN and requires:
- 2 Corrupted Bioprocessor (dropped from Propagator Core XR-53 or Credits on the GTN)
- 4 Artifact Curious Cell Graft
- 8 Artifact Intravenous Injector
- 2 Legendary Embers
All these materials can be found on the GTN sold by other players. Here are some other ways to get some of the rarer materials…
OEM and RPM can only be gotten by spending 1,800 Tech Fragments each at the Spoils of War Vendor in the Supplies section of the Republic or Imperial Fleet.
The Legendary Ember can also be purchased for 3,000 Tech Fragments from the Spoils of War Vendor.
However, you can also get them from the Grade 11 unlockable crew skill missions for any crew skill – the ones that require a mission item with a purple border to unlock.
Legendary Embers are also a reward for the PvP Dailies and Weeklies at Level 80. The daily gives you 1, and the weekly gives you 3.
Tier 86 Advanced Purple Augments
Augment 86 augments require:
- The correct crafting crew skill for the augment you want to make (see chart above)
- The schematic, which is not an item, but instead is reverse-engineered from Tier 86 Blue Augments you have crafted yourself. For everyone Tier 86 Blue Augment you deconstruct, you will have a 20% chance of getting the purple version of that augment schematic
- Once you have the schematic, the materials required are the same, you just need more of them, making these augments extremely expensive to craft
And each Augment 86 needs these materials:
- A handful of Components from your crew skill
- 2 CM-1337, which is only crafted by Cybertechs and requires:
- 5 OEM-37, which each cost 1,800 Tech Fragments or Credits on the GTN
- 5 RPM-13, which each cost 1,800 Tech Fragments or Credits on the GTN
- 5 Legendary Embers, which each cost 3,000 Tech Fragments or Credits on the GTN
- 3 Overclocked Biostabilizer, which is only crafted by Artificers or purchased on the GTN and requires:
- 2 Corrupted Bioprocessor (dropped from Propagator Core XR-53 or Credits on the GTN)
- 4 Artifact Lustrous Artifice Bonded Attachment
- 8 Artifact Hurrikaine Artifice Bonded Crystal
- 2 Legendary Embers
- 3 Purified Bioessence, which is only crafted by Biochemists or purchased on the GTN and requires:
- 2 Corrupted Bioprocessor (dropped from Propagator Core XR-53 or Credits on the GTN)
- 4 Artifact Curious Cell Graft
- 8 Artifact Intravenous Injector
- 2 Legendary Embers
All these materials can be found on the GTN sold by other players. Go to the above section for Blue 86’s for some more information about other ways to get Legendary Embers, OEMs, and RPMs.
High-Level Augment Comparison
These are the augments designed for level 75 and 80. If you are comparing prices on the GTN or the prices of crafting materials, the differences in stats might help you decide whether upgrading is worth it or not.
