SWTOR How to unlock the Shroud of Memory Chapter

The Shroud of Memory Chapter in Star Wars: The Old Republic is a special chapter playable during the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion story, that can not be unlocked unless you have purchased the chapter item. This is a quick guide on how to unlock the chapter, and if it’s not working, what to do to make it not greyed out.

How to Unlock the Chapter

To unlock the Shroud of Memory chapter, you must have been a subscriber continuously from January 11th, 2016, to August 1st, 2016 or purchased the HK-55 Chapter: Shroud of Memory unlock item from the Cartel Market.

This unlock says it is only for one character, but is actually for all characters across your entire account once purchased and used. You do not need to buy it per-character. The unlock, when not on sale, is quite expensive at 3,800 Cartel Coins, but the pricing reflects that to get it previously you would have needed to subscribe continuously for 6 months.

Make sure to actually claim the item from your Cartel Coin unclaimed items tab, and to also right-click to use the item from your inventory on the character you purchased it on.

Shroud of Memory Not Available

Some players often have trouble getting the Shroud of Memory chapter to actually show up / trigger and it appears greyed out.

If it appears like this, first make sure it’s not sitting in your quest log, and then follow these steps. If it is in your quest log, it will give you more instructions like “play Arma Rasa”, and how to do that is below.

1. First, You will need to have completed To Find a Findsman. This is an Alliance Alert located in the Companions & Contacts menu (N key by default), and becomes available once you have finished Chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire. It is a short quest related to the companion Yuun.

TO FIND A FINDSMAN WILL NOT SHOW UP IF YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A CHAPTER OPEN THAT IS LOWER THAN CHAPTER TEN OF KNIGHTS OF THE FALLEN EMPIRE.

This means if you have any Chapter from Knights of the Fallen Empire that is 1-9 in your quest log, To Find a Findsman will not show up in your Companions & Contacts menu (N key by default). Unfortunately, you can not abandon the Chapter quests – however, you can easily go back into the Chapters menu  (SHIFT+E) and pick up a later chapter instead, and To Find a Findsman will show up again.

2. Second, you will need to complete Arma Rasa, another alliance alert that is only available to those who have the Shroud of Memory unlock and who have also completed To Find a Findsman.

ARMA RASA WILL NOT SHOW UP IF YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A CHAPTER OPEN.

This means if you have any Chapter from Knights of the Fallen Empire or Knights of the Eternal Throne is in your quest log, Arma Rasa will not show up in your Companions & Contacts menu (N key by default). Unfortunately, you can not abandon the Chapter quests – however, you can pick up an easier one and skip through it quickly so it will drop out of your quest log.

• The ability to see the funny story chapter
• The companion HK-55 permanently
• The companion ZO-0M permanently
• The Jollo decoration
