SWTOR Heroic Quest Guide

Heroic quests are designed to be more difficult quests out in the open world of Star Wars: The Okd Republic, that you are meant to be able  complete with 2 or more players, or solo if you are highly skilled, geared, and have a high-influence companion.

Rewards

Heroics have always had pretty great rewards, and what you get varies by level.

Levels 1-60

At levels 1-60, when you complete a heroic quest or conquest, you get low-level heroic gear appropriate for your level and combat style. These equipment pieces have names like Requisitioned MK-2, Tarnished MK-2, or Crystalline MK-2, and these are often some of the more powerful gear pieces you can get for your level range as you play. Low-level heroics also give great XP and an ok amount of credits.

Levels 61+

By the time you hit level 61, you’ve reached a level range where there are more unique ways to earn gear, so the game instead gives you Locked Supply Crates which you can turn in for cosmetic gear and other rewards. See the Low Level Gearing Guide for info on how to actually get gear for your level bracket if you were hoping for gear from heroics, but are not longer getting any since you hit level 61.

Chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire unlocks a bunch of different features in the game because it gives you access to your alliance base on the planet Odessen. That’s when you can start turning in those locked supply crates for cool cosmetic rewards. If you are not there yet in the story, store your Locked Supply Crates in your yellow Legacy Bank and hold on to them, they will be very useful later!

Turning in your locked supply crates will get you a small pile of items, including some gifts for your companions, credits, and some legacy armor, which can be worn on any of your characters above level 10. You’ll also have a chance of being rewarded a cool speeder, and will always get a small amount of credits. Heroic 2+ Difficulty Tips

Heroic quests are not designed to be done alone. In fact, when the game first came out, they were almost impossible to solo, and you really had to find other players to group up with to complete them. These days, players can complete most Heroics alone, if they are skilled at their class, are well-geared, and have a high-influence level companion. It’s a lot easier if you just bring a friend though – as you’ll both also be able to bring your companions.

Gear: What gear you would need varies by level.

• If you are level 80, you will likely want item-rating level 328+ gear to solo heroics, unless you feel very comfortable with your role and class. The higher gear you can get, the better. Solo Gearing Guide
• If you are below level 80, at minimum, you will want a piece of gear in every slot that is around the same level as you currently are.

Combat: Making good use of your attacks, defensive abilities, and utility abilities makes a huge difference compared to just mashing random buttons. Understanding your class, even at a basic level, can make a huge difference in how fast you kill things, and how long you can survive. Basic Class Guides

Influence: Your companion influence affects how good they are at battle. You’ll want a level 20+ influence companion, unless you feel very comfortable with your role and class. The higher your companion’s influence the better, with 50 being the max. Companion Influence Guide

Role: I’ve found it is easiest to have my companion as a Healer for any difficult content like heroics. If you happen to have a tank character with ok tank gear, you can also play that with your companion in the healer role – it makes you kill things slower, but also makes you harder to kill. If you have a group of 2+ players or companions, make sure at least one companion or player is a healer.

Heroic Quests

There’s a bunch of different ways to pick up heroic quests.

If you want an easy way to do multiple heroics on a planet, use the Activity Finder. Click the icon of “three little people” on the bottom right of your screen which will open the Activity Finder Window.

On the solo tab, scroll down and find the listing for the planet’s heroics you want to run, select it, then click the green Travel button. This will take you right to the blue box on the planet where you can pick up all the heroic quests, and will also automatically give you the weekly quest to run any 4 heroics on that planet – at a low level, it will give you extra xp and credits, and at a high level it gives you bonus gear and end-game currency on top of what you get from the individual heroics.

If you are low-level, only heroics appropriate to your level will show up on the solo tab. If you want to try some a little higher, which will be a big challenge, you can still access some of them on the Heroics Terminal in the Combat Training section of the fleet.

You can also pick specific heroics to run using this terminal, and travel straight to them.

PS if you want a really dumb but handy way to pick up a specific heroic on a specific planet… try opening your Conquest tab, and choose one of hte objectives like “Hoth: Heroic Missions” – then click “Mission Board” on the bottom right. It will pull up that planet’s Heroic list, and you can pick up quests without travelling to the fleet!
