Story – Republic Instructions

Requirements: To play the Depths of Manaan Flashpoint in the story, and receive all the special cutscenes related to the Flashpoint in the story, you will need to be level 53+ and on the correct step of the Forged Alliances / Prelude: Shadow of Revan storyline. If you are below this level, or not on the correct quest step, you can not play the story quest for this Flashpoint. *** BUG? At the moment, as of Update 7.7.1 to start the Prelude: Shadow of Revan, you must have first completed your Class Story, the Ilum Prelude, and the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion. Before that, you just needed to be the right level. It is unclear if this is a permanent change or not.

Timeline: In the story, this Flashpoint takes place specifically as part of the Shadow of Revan expansion, in the section called the Prelude, which is technically before the expansion. This is the third Flashpoint in the Forged Alliances / Prelude: Shadow of Revan quest line.

Bring a Friend: If you want to bring a friend along for this Flashpoint in Story Mode to do the full story line, you easily can.
If they have not done the Depths of Manaan storyline / Shadow of Revan Prelude / Forged Alliances storyline, they can join you in a group and you can follow the exact same steps together as long as they are level 53+.
If they have already run the storyline, they’ll be able to join you in the cutscenes like Forged Alliances: Part II by walking in the door behind you. Then after you finish that cutscene with them watching, you’ll be able to enter the Flashpoint, but your friend won’t have any quests so they can’t walk in behind you… tell them to go talk to the nearby Transporter Dumah Ba droid and pick up the [Start Story Mode] quest and then they will be able to enter the Flashpoint with you.
They can also use the Solo tab in the Activity Finder to quickly join you once you are already inside the Flashpoint as long as they are level 53+.

Step 2 – You will have started the Shadow of Revan: Prelude quest, and this droid will lead you to Colonel Darok for an explanation of what is going on in the story through the quest Complete “Forged Alliances: Part I”. To get to him, you will need to take the Outbound Mission Hangar elevator located on the far east elevator of the Republic Fleet. The elevator is very close to T3-G2.

Once you complete the Speak to Theron Shan on Manaan step, you’ll automatically be on the quest [STORY] Depths of Manaan.

Step 10 – Exit the area where you talked to Theron, then keep walking through Manaan’s maps until you reach the Depths of Manaan Entrance. You can walk right in the door, you do not need to talk to the Flashpoint questgiver as you should already automatically have the [STORY] quest.

If you can’t see that icon, you can also right-click the item in the Mission Items tab of your inventory.

Lost the quest? If you lost the Prelude: Shadow of Revan / Forge Alliances quest, head back to the T3-G2 Droid you started at to re-pick up the quest. Keep in mind this story-based introductory quest Forged Alliances is one-time-per-character. Bosses
Depths of Manaan has three boss fights – Sairisi the Security Commander and his droids, Ortuno the Selkath from the Order of Shasa, and the final boss Stivastin Specimen #71.
In story mode, and in Veteran Mode when you have multiple players you can use the medpacs scattered around the bosses. Right-click them to heal yourself.

Sairisi

When Sairisi has a blue shield around him, attack his droids.

When his droids have a shield, attack Sairisi.

Try to stay out of the blue lines.

Master Mode: This fight is harder in Master Mode – you’ll want to kill both the Suppression Droids at roughly the same time, so your DPS will need to split up. Otherwise, they will transfer their shields back and forth with the boss, and you’ll get stuck in a neverending loop.

You can also hit the boss with the droid’s blue lines to stun him with their Rocket Punch instead of getting knocked back yourself.

Terminals

Don’t forget to click the terminal when you are done the fight with Sairisi!

The next objective is a bit vague – Find Darok, Arkous or Gorima. The real next step is to find the other glowing blue computer to get the lower lab unlocked. This is in the back of the room with the locked door if you can’t find it, behind some enemies.
Later you’ll need to Uplink with Rakata Techbase Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. They are marked on the map.

They look like horizontal glowing computer terminals, behind some enemies.

Ortuno

Ortuno the second boss of the Manaan Flashpoint has some interesting mechanics.
He will create puddles on the floor under random players.

When he casts Flow, the circles will double in size.

You’ll want to get out of them.

Shortly after, he will cast Energy Eruption. if you are standing in the puddles at the end of this, you will be electrified and stunned! So step out of the big puzzle before then.

Master Mode: This boss is much harder on Master Mode. His Confluence circles will get 3x as large, so you want your team to stack up at least a bit so their circles fall in the same place instead of all over the room.

Bonus Boss – M2-Aux Foreman (Master Mode Only)

In Master Mode, there is a bonus quest called Logistic Confusion, which has you click various glowing blue terminals, then go fight the bonus boss.

This bonus boss is quite difficult!

Demolition Probes will slowly come down the hallway – your don’t want the group to be hit by them. You’ll also be slowed, so you can’t just run across the room to the other side most of the time.
If a droid is coming your way, one team member should run into the incoming Demolition Droid, exploding it outside the group.
Stivastin

The final Manaan boss also has some fun mechanics.

If you need healing, you can right-click the healing kolto tanks around the room.
Stivastin will not take much damage until he is brought into the fire. The fire is represented by an orange circle on the ground – you’ll need to walk him into it to destroy his shield.

Set him on fire!

Master Mode: This fight is pretty much the same in Master Mode! If you are tanking, he has both an aggro drop and an aggro ignore, so make sure your team knows to help run him to the fire.

After the final boss, you can right-click the glowing blue terminal to escape.

Don’t forget your loot! It will be in some crates outside the underground kolto lab. You can right-click them.

They can contain Manaan Research Data, which you can turn in for rewards (see rewards section).

To leave the Flashpoint, right-click the blinking tower, or use the Exit Area button.

Master Mode

Master Mode Manaan is actually pretty different than Veteran Mode Manaan.
- The enemies are stronger and have more health
- There are Unrefined Kolto barrels everywhere in the hallways that give an achievement and healing
- The first boss has a rotating shield, so fight the two smaller enemies at the same time
- There is the bonus quest to find a bunch of terminals, then a difficult bonus boss fight
- The middle boss’s Confluence circles get huge
- The final boss has a lot of aggro dumps

Skips
What follows are a quick gallery of images depicting specific walking routes that may save you some time by avoiding enemies during the flashpoint – but Manaan isn’t great for skipping enemies unless you are in stealth.
Skip #1

Unfortunately most of Manaan takes place in narrow hallways with only one way to go – even in more open rooms where you think you’ll get around a pack, they are linked in threat to an unpassable group nearby. The only real skip you can manage in this flashpoint without stealth involves this group pictured here between the first boss and the second, as you get the objective to interact with two terminals in nearby hallways. This patrol pictured above takes a loooong time to waddle out to their places that you can see here – if they make it, then it’s too late to skip them, but for the most part a group should be able to hug the left (right in the image) wall and get past before every enemy takes it’s place. That’s it, though. The rest of Depths of Manaan is required fighting.
Rewards
In addition to the usual rewards of XP, credits, gear and end-game currency, Depths of Manaan has the following rewards available.
The Selkath Solar Sculpture decoration is an automatic reward for completing the repeatable solo-friendly [STORY] mode, picked up through the Activity Finder. It can also be bought and sold on the GTN.

Selkath Droid HK Customization
Once you complete Forged Alliances: Part II you will be rewarded with a Selkath Droid HK Customization. This is once-per-character.
Manaan Flashpoint Vendor

The Depths of Manaan Flashpoint has a bunch of unique rewards. Some of the rewards are random drops, but others are purchased with Manaan Research Data, an item used as a currency at the Manaan Flashpoint Vendor on Manaan.

(I need more data on these to see how hard or easy they are to get. I got some from the final boss and the one-time quest. xxx)

Aquatic Mewvorr

The Aquatic Mewvorr is a rare drop from the Depths of Manaan Flashpoint. It seems to be Bind on Equip, so you may be able to trade it between characters or buy and sell it on the GTN. Players reported you can even get the Mewvorr pets in solo / story mode.
BA-2 Command Walker

The BA-2 Command Walker and KX-7 Command Walker both drop from the Assault on Tython, Korriban Incursion, Depths of Manaan, and Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoints. I have even seen a player report that it dropped from Battle of Rishi. The BA-2 Command Walker (white/red) seems to drop mostly Republic side, the KX-7 Command Walker (black) seems to drop mostly Imperial side, though a few players have reported they had both drop on the same faction. Players reported that they seemed to drop most often in the Assault on Tython Flashpoint on either faction.
KX-7 Command Walker

The BA-2 Command Walker and KX-7 Command Walker both drop from the Assault on Tython, Korriban Incursion, Depths of Manaan, and Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoints. I have even seen a player report that it dropped from Battle of Rishi. Achievements

In addition to all the normal achievements like completing each boss for the first time, or completing them all 25 times each, there’s also a fun secret achievement.
The Certified Organic Achievement ask you to break 500 Unrefined Kolto barrels in the Depths of Manaan flashpoint, and in return, you’ll get the silly All Natural Legacy Title. Unrefined Kolto barrels can only be found in Veteran Mode and Master Mode of Depths of Manaan, and when one is clicked, credit only goes towards the player who clicked it, not the whole group. There are about 100 of these glowing blue barrels in the flashpoint, so this achievement is meant to take a while.
These maps don’t show every barrel, but do give you a good idea of just how many there are! Every yellow dot is a kolto barrel.
The Manaan, Manaan Achievement is earned once you’ve competed all achievements relating to the Depths of Manaan flashpoint and gives the extra silly Honored Air Breather Legacy Title. This is a long-term achievement which includes completing these:
- Broke 500 Unrefined Kolto barrels
- Defeated 2000 enemies in the Depths of Manaan flashpoint.
- Defeated every boss in Master Mode 25 times
- Defeated the bonus boss 25 times
