Retired Armors in SWTOR

Retired Armors are armor sets in Star Wars: The Old Republic that used to be available, but no longer are. Some have look-alike sets available instead now, while others remain completely retired and unavailable at all to new players who didn’t earn them when they were available back in the time that they were released. This is by no means a complete list, but it is a huge page with information about as many Retired armor sets as I know of in the game!

Some retired sets only have 8 looks (one for each class) and others have many, so click the button below the outfits to see more. You can also click the individual sets to see if there are look-alikes available.

Retired Crafting Schematics

While there are many retired crafting schematics, the actual armors you can craft with those retired schematics is not retired – if you can find someone with the old schematic, they will be able to make you a set of that old armor and sell or trade it to you!

Retired Old Level 60/65 Starter Character Gear

These specific Veteran armors are the armors you would get back in the day when you would create a level 60 or level 65 Token character. Now Commander’s Tokens make a level 70 character, so these are retired, but there are similar other sets available.

Retired Eternal Commander

Retired Eternal Commander (MK-1, MK-2, MK-3) and Retired Eternal Commander White (MK-11 / MK-12 / MK-13 / MK-15) armor is now-retired armor that was introduced to the game in Update 5.0 and was designed for characters who were level 70 from endgame PvE content. These armors are Bind on Pickup, which means even if you happen to have this old armor in your Cargo Holds, it can not be sold or given to another player, and can not be sent to your other characters. There is no way to get the old level-70, Update 5.0 versions of the Retired Eternal Commander armor anymore, but there may be some look-alikes available that were introduced later so players could collect them as cosmetic looks – these similar look-alikes may have Retired Eternal Commander in the their name, or may have a completely different name. The original level-70 Retired Eternal Commander armors changed their looks depending on what faction you had earned them on, but any later look-alike sets may stay the same regardless of faction, so you might be able to find a version that you can wear on the opposite faction with the same look.

Retired Old Drops Flashpoints

At the launch of the game, each Flashpoint dropped unique gear for each class, with special names related to the Flashpoint like “Athiss Enforcer” or “Black Talon Inquisitor”, or some just neat names like “Dark Delirium” or “Untouchable Shadow Maelstrom”. These armor looks were not completely exclusive to the Flashpoints, but many of them could only be gotten otherwise from random drops around the galaxy, so players would collect them by running the Flashpoints. These armor sets were designed for specific level ranges, but many of the pieces were modifiable so players could keep wearing them at higher levels. In Update 4.0, many of the stats changed, and the gear drops were adjusted to be more relevant to whatever level your character actually was, so these specific pieces stopped dropping and you instead would get gear relevant to your class and current level, and these pieces became essentially retired, though their similar looks might still be available elsewhere in the game.

Retired Old Drops Heroics

In Update 2.0, a few sets were released as “heroic” sets – not necessarily from “Heroic” quests, but from harder quests around the game, for example Hard Mode level 55 Flashpoints (max level at the time) and [HEROIC 4] The Shroud’s Last Stand and [HEROIC 4] The Shroud Revealed, or potentially a random drop on Makeb, the highest level planet at the time. When Update 4.0 was launched, many of the previously dropped items were replaced with items that are specific to your class and urrent level – so I assume these armor sets are no longer available to be found out in the wild, though they do all have similar sets available you can still get with different names, often from crafters who have the now-retired schematics. There is also a very small number of gloves in this batch of items that are crafted with schematics from Underworld Trading, which both the gloves and schematics are easy to find on the GTN.

Retired Old Drops Imperial Quests

At the launch of the game, each Heroic quest on the different planets would reward you with a specific pieces of gear that related to the level of the quest and your current class and faction – you could go run a specific Heroic quest on say the planet of Alderaan Imperial-side and be rewarded with a specific armor look. For example the [HEROIC +2] Hostage Situation quest used to drop Armored Pyro Vambraces / Poison Pit Bracers depending on if you were a Bounty Hunter or Imperial Agent on Hutta, and the [HEROIC +2] Hostage Situation Cleanup used to drop the Armored Pyro Boots / Poison Pit Boots in the same way, and the Merciless Juggernaut Elite set would drop from the Taris Heroic quests, so I assume most if not all of these types of armors came from old heroic quests, In Update 4.0, the stats of the game were adjusted and many drops were changed so you would receive gear that is appropriate for your class and current level, and these stopped being quest rewards or drops, so they are essentially retired. Many of them have other similar ways to get the same look, but I think there may be a few unique looks only available from these old drops!

Retired Old Drops Shared Quests

At the launch of the game, different quests on the different planets would reward you with a specific pieces of gear that related to the level of the quest and your current class – you could go run a specific Normal or Heroic quest on say the planet of Alderaan Imperial-side and be rewarded with a specific armor look. For example, the Chasing the Shadow quest, a level 50 Heroic 4+ mission on Corellia in the Black Hole area, would drop the Ciridium War Body Armor or Ciridium Onslaught Body Armor for Troopers / Bounty Hunters, the Heavy Ciridium Body Armor or Reinforced Matrix Chestguard for Jedi Knights / Sith Warriors, the Annointed Nanosilk Vestments for Jedi Consular Sages / Sith Inquisitor Sorcerers and the Reinforced Nanosilk Robes or Veiled Nanosilk Robes for the Jedi Consular Shadows / Sith Inquisitor Assassins. These armor sets were considered “shared” sets as the same item would drop on both factions, but has a different look on each side. These were all Binds on Pickup, so they could not be sold on the GTN or moved between characters. In Update 4.0, the stats of the game were adjusted and many drops were changed so you would receive gear that is appropriate for your class and current level, and these stopped being quest rewards or drops, so they are essentially retired. Many of them have other similar ways to get the same look, but I think there may be a few unique looks or colors only available from these old drops!

Retired Low Level Starter Planets Quest Rewards

These are the unique low-level quest rewards you can get on the very early planets in the game, depending on your class. There is no other way to get them if you have already done the quests associated with them or are a different class or faction. Some of them have the same names for different armor sets.

Retired Old Drops Rise of the Hutt Cartel

These items were introduced in Update 2.0 for level 55. Some seem to have been direct quest rewards for specific quests, for example some of the steps of the Seeker Droid quests. Others seem like they may have been able to be dug up by the Seeker Droid in the past. When the stats of the game changed, and rewards became tailored to your class and current level, it’s likely these were replaced with the new rewards for the quests, and all armor drops were removed from the Seeker Droid locations except for the special Star Forager / Dreadseed armor sets. There are also similar-looking crafted archived armors from the same time period.

Retired Arkanian

Arkanian Armor is now-retired armor that was introduced to the game in Update 2.0 and was designed for characters who were level 55 from endgame PvE content. Retired Black Hole

Black Hole Armor is now-retired armor that was introduced to the game in Update 1.2 and was designed for characters who were level 50 from endgame PvE content. These armors are Bind on Pickup, which means even if you happen to have this old armor in your Cargo Holds, it can not be sold or given to another player, and can not be sent to your other characters. There is no way to get the old level-50, Update 1.2 versions of the Retired Black Hole armor anymore, but there may be some look-alikes available that were introduced later so players could collect them as cosmetic looks – these similar look-alikes may have Retired Black Hole in the their name, or may have a completely different name. The original level-50 Retired Black Hole armors changed their looks depending on what faction you had earned them on, but any later look-alike sets may stay the same reagrdless of faction, so you might be able to find a version that you can wear on the opposite faction with the same look. Black Hole armor dropped from Explosive Conflict Story Mode and Hard Mode, and gear could be purchased directly from the Black Hole vendor with Black Hole commendations, mainly earned from the Corellia Black Hole daily area. Explosive Conflict and the Corellia daily area no longer reward Black Hole gear, so this gear is effectively retired, except when you may occasionally see it drop from a World Boss like Nightmare Pilgrim, and it’s well known that the Primal Destroyer boss also can drop Black Hole armor. Interestingly, it seems the Black Hole Belt, Bracers, Weapons, Earpiece, Implants and some offhands were reverse-engingeerable and could be learned as crafting schematics. All Black Hole pieces are Binds on Pickup, except there are Binds on Equip versions of the Belts and Bracers that were craftable, so you could potentially find someone with these very old schematics, though thre was a known bug/issue with reverse-engineering at the time so finding someone with these schematics would be incredibly rare. If you are trying to get black Hole pieces from world bosses, keep in mind that there is a special group bind timer – that means you can trade within your world boss group until the timer runs out – so if you see a piece you want drop within your group, you could always message then winner and offer to trade them for the piece right after beating the boss. you can see what pieces drop in the Other tab of your chat if they are not immediately visible in your chat box.

Retired Campaign / Crafted Campaign

Campaign Armor is now-retired armor that was introduced to the game in Update 1.2 and was designed for characters who were level 50 from endgame PvE content. These armors are Bind on Pickup, which means even if you happen to have this old armor in your Cargo Holds, it can not be sold or given to another player, and can not be sent to your other characters. There is no way to get the old level-50, Update 1.2 versions of the Retired Campaign / Crafted Campaign armor anymore, but there may be some look-alikes available that were introduced later so players could collect them as cosmetic looks – these similar look-alikes may have Retired Campaign / Crafted Campaign in the their name, or may have a completely different name. The original level-50 Retired Campaign / Crafted Campaign armors changed their looks depending on what faction you had earned them on, but any later look-alike sets may stay the same reagrdless of faction, so you might be able to find a version that you can wear on the opposite faction with the same look. Campaign gear in Game Update 1.2 was obtained from Hardmode Explosive Conflict and the Nightmare Pilgrim World Boss on Voss. Specific bosses would drop specific pieces, and this was one of the most difficult operations and world bosses in the game at the time. While Explosive Conflict no longer drops this level 50 gear, you may still occasionally see it drop from Nightmare Pilgrim the world boss. What’s interesting is that if you received one of these Binds on Pickup pieces of gear back in the day, you could reverse-engineer it to learn how to craft a Binds on Pickup crafted version which looked the same. This ability to reverse-engineer them was bugged for a while, and only players who knew the work-around could learn the new schematics from the Campaign gear they got from difficult content. This means it is possible, but quite uncommon, to find someone who can craft these old Campaign sets for you – you just need to find someone with the old rare schematics on their characters.

I am unsure where these armors came from or if they ever actually existed. They have some really cool names though and seem to be faction-specific.

Retired Random Vendor

I think these used to be vendor armors for credits but no longer are. I think you can find the chestpieces still in-game, but some of the helmets are unique and not obtainable other ways. These have a white border for their icons.

Retired Outlander (MK-1, MK-2, MK-3, MK-4)

Outlander MK-1, MK-2, MK-3 and MK-4 is now-retired armor that was introduced to the game in Update 5.0 and was designed for characters who were level 70 from endgame PvE content – possibly from basic Flashpoints. These armors are Bind on Pickup, which means even if you happen to have this old armor in your Cargo Holds, it can not be sold or given to another player, and can not be sent to your other characters. There is no way to get the old level-70, Update 5.0 versions of the Retired Outlander armor anymore, but there may be some look-alikes available that were introduced later so players could collect them as cosmetic looks – these similar look-alikes may have Outlander in the their name, or may have a completely different name.
