SWTOR Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer and Tying Up Loose Ends Achievement Guide

What is the Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer for? And how can you use it to earn the Tying Up Loose Ends Achievement achievement in SWTOR?

Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer

As you play Galactic Seasons, Season 8 ‘Rising Powers’ in SWTOR, you’ll receive an item called Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer, which looks like a yellow stim.

You’ll get a few from the introductory quest, and a bunch as you claim your rewards from the track.

In your inventory, you’ll notice that the Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer item is greyed out and can’t be used. When you mouse over it, the tooltip says it can only be used in Uprisings.

In Season 8, Uprisings are a large focus, so I wrote an Uprisings Guide! Uprisings are story-light fast Flashpoints designed for groups of four, but skilled players may be able to solo them. The guide covers how to enter an Uprising, eiehter alone or through the groupfinder.

How to Use the Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer

Once you are inside an Uprising, the Combat Enhancer will become useable. Right-click the Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer item from your inventory to apply it in an Uprising.

You can check and see if you have it applied above your character portrait as a buff. It is not on a timer, but disappears when you leave the Uprising.

If you roll over the buff which will be a small icon of the stim above your character portrait, you will see you got one of three enhancers:

  • Czerka Combat Drones: Deploys Czerka combat drones which attack your target.
  • Destruction Overload: Every 5th enemy you defeat will explode.
  • Unstable Radiation Field: Leaves a trail of damaging fields at your feet while in combat.

These enhancers are mainly to make Uprisings more fun/interesting, and the abilities apply automatically – you don’t need to click them to use them after you have applied your stim. Each member of the group should take their own enhancer if they want to have fun powers and a damage boost.

In addition to giving extra fun powers, if any member of the group uses a Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer item, then there is a chance stronger enhanced enemies can appear randomly. These enemies will be:

  • glowing red
  • bigger in size
  • have a buff called Unstable Radiation
  • have double their normal amount of health
  • and will do more damage

These enemies are a part of the meta-achievement for Season 8.

Achievements

There are some special limited-time achievements for Season 8. The overall meta achievement is a bit different this season and there is nothing you need to “collect” – instead you need to fight Dark vs Light bosses and run Uprisings.

If you are an achievement hunter, your goals will include completing all of these tasks during the season:

  • Complete 100 weekly season objectives during the season
  • Reach Rank 100 on the Galactic Seasons track during the season
  • And these two unique tasks:
    • Tying Up Loose Ends: Eliminate Targets affected by the side effects of the Czerka Experimental Combat Enhancer – Defeat Enhanced Enemies in Uprisings x250 (red enemies)
    • Defeat each Dark side/Light side World Boss once during this Season

To earn the new hair, your goal will include completing all of the achievement tasks during the season.

Appearance Option: Regal Senator Hairstyle

Tips

  • While Uprisings are meant to be done with a group, if you are a skilled max-level player and are comfortable with your abilities, you can likely also work on this achievement alone, especially in Story mode Uprisings
  • The more people in your group who are using the enhancer, the higher the chances of enhanced enemies showing up
  • If you need more of the enhancer stims, you can buy them with credits from the Ki’at Thavo vendor in the supplies section of the Fleet for 19,999 credits.
  • ONLY RED ENEMIES COUNT. You do not need to kill them in a specific way – you do not need to make sure that they are killed by your “special” ability, you can just shoot them or hit them with your lightsaber.
  • SPAWN RED ENEMIES: I think the way this works is that every 5 seconds that you are in combat, each of the enemies you are fighting have a 20% chance of becoming a red enemy – but only if they have more than 50% health. So if they are almost dead, they’ll never get it – so try not to kill things too fast, or you’ll never get any red enemies! I had this problem playing in story mode until I slowed down a bit, especially by leaving the enemies with a star beside their name alone for a while to give them a chance to potentially turn red, compared to the less strong enemies which could die with one or two hits on my highly-geared character.
  • The bosses in the Uprisings will never become enhanced / red.
