SWTOR Knights of the Fallen Empire Chapter XII: Visions in the Dark Story Choices and Dialogue

The Knights of the Fallen Empire Chapter XII: Outlander chapter takes place in the third expansion of Star Wars: The Old Republic, on the forest floor wilds of Odessen.

Dialogue

The dialogue below is an example of what the dialogue trees may look like, but may not reflect how it is in-game exactly, due to some options not being used, and the way the dialogue trees are non-linear. I’ve done my best to put the text together in a fun way where you can look at the differences in the dialogue choices, and see the different wordings depending on your class, faction or alignment. There will potentially be spoilers from every class story and every expansion before this one. Enjoy!

There is a lot of different dialogue trees depending on your class, but choices you make in this chapter have a ripple down effect for multiple chapters later.

My favorite differences include:

  • I really like that right away in this chapter you choose to send Kaliyo or Aric Jorgan out on a mission – this choice has effects at the end of this chapter, the beginning of the next chapter, and resolves at the end of Chapter 13.
  • When you choose between Aric and Kaliyo, it gives you the chance to back-track your choice to confirm it.
  • Koth continues to have unique lines if he decided to stay.
  • There’s lots of amsall acknowlegements in this chapter – whether you kneedl to valkorion or not, or if you used his power, whether you are in a romance with Koth, Lana or Theron, and lots of nice little class-specific lines from Valkorion and from your character.
  • You can try and flirt with Satele Shan which is pretty funny. You can also try and kill her near the end, but both go nowhere. There’s also unique dialogue with Satele if you are in a romance with Theron.
  • There’s unique dialogue with Marr if you are Republic or Empire.
  • If you are a force-user, in the cave in front of the forge, your character will say, “You want me to build a new lightsaber.” If you are a blaster user, you say “The devices I found out there… I can build a new weapon with them.” – which is pretty funny, since you pick up items like a Harmonically Synchronized Force Crystal and a lightsaber switch.
  • The choices you make during the forge cutscene will give your weapon different buffs.

Introduction

War with the Eternal Empire rages on. From his throne of power, Emperor Arcann commands the unstoppable ETERNAL FLEET.

Alliance operatives have uncovered a mysterious GEMINI FREQUENCY, which Arcann uses to control his invincible armada.

On Odessen, <name> commands a secret mission to sever Arcann’s hold over his fleet and permanently turn the tide of war against him….

Cutscenes

  • Theron Shan: SCORPIO cross-referenced all the data Havoc Squad and Kaliyo stole from Zakuul. When we compared the enemy’s comm logs to the Spire maps, we found something unexpected.
  • Theron Shan: There’s a hyperwave relay station hidden ten thousand meters beneath the Spire. It’s the only source of GEMINI frequency transmissions to and from the Eternal Throne.
  • We found Arcann’s weak spot.Player: That’s how Arcann commands the Fleet. And we know where it is.
  • Not the Throne itself?Player: I thought the Throne controlled the Eternal Fleet.
    • Theron Shan: Broadcasting a signal to thousands of ships across the galaxy takes tremendous energy. The relay station’s powered by two hundred reactors tapping directly into Zakuul’s planetary core.
  • Yawn.Player: Let me know when you get to the exciting part.
    • Theron Shan: I knew you’d take my briefing seriously. Lana, you’re up.
  • Lana Beniko: That relay station is our key to the GEMINI frequency. If we can decrypt it, we’ll eavesdrop on the enemy and learn his plans.
  • How do we reach that station?Player: We have a map. All we need is a route.
  • We can take over the Fleet.Player: Think bigger, Lana. We could send fake orders. Have Arcann’s own warships blast him off the throne.
    • Kaliyo Djannis: Why stop there? When the Fleet’s under your control, there’s nothing you couldn’t do with it.
  • Or destroy all communications.Player: If we take it out, Arcann won’t only be blind, he’ll be toothless. The Fleet will sit there waiting for commands that never arrive.
    • Aric Jorgan: First order of guerilla warfare–disrupt enemy communications. This is a demolition op, all the way.
  • Senya: You’ll never get near that relay station. It’s ten kilometers underground, and defended by more safeguards than we can count.
  • Theron Shan: It’s a good thing our data reveals every security measure in the way–and how to defeat them.
  • Lana Beniko: A strike team can disable the defenses right under Arcann’s nose, but only if we send it in now. Our intel’s turning stale as we speak.
  • Theron Shan: Kaliyo and Major Jorgan are already on Zakuul. They’re in position to clear the Commander a path directly to the relay station.
  • Senya: We are not sending that terrorist. She’s done enough to my world.
  •  See Full Conditions [[[Did Koth choose to stay with you?]]] Koth Vortena: Senya’s right. Can’t believe I had to say that….
  • Aric Jorgan: Havoc Squad was made for this op. We have enough detonite to turn that relay station into a crater. Cut the head off the serpent, throw the Fleet into chaos.
  • Kaliyo Djannis: You’re trusting the fate of the galaxy to a gang of grenade-happy bucketheads? We’re only getting one shot at this. Lucky for you, one shot is all I need.
  •  See Full Conditions [[[Did Koth choose to stay with you?]]]] Koth Vortena: Is that what you tell all your victims?
  • Kaliyo Djannis: Destroying that relay station is a bonehead play. Send me, and you’ll control the GEMINI frequency.
  • Lana Beniko: The idea has potential. She’s an experienced infiltrator who survived on Zakuul for years.
  • Senya: She bombed my people. Never again.
  • I expect you to work together.Player: This Alliance will never win if we can’t function as a team. I need all of you to pull together and do what’s necessary.
    • Theron Shan: It’s not that simple. We need to draw Arcann’s attention away from our true goal. That means creating a diversion.
    • Lana Beniko: They’re both accomplished at drawing attention. The real question is, who do you want with you at the relay station?
    • [You can then choose between them.]
  • Kaliyo, you’re with me.Player: Destroying the relay station is a last resort. But if things go wrong, I need someone who can get creative. That’s Kaliyo.
    • Aric Jorgan: She’s like a rancor in a glass factory. This is a mistake.
    • Kaliyo Djannis: You want chaos? You’ve got it.
    • Senya: If Kaliyo’s idea of a distraction results in harm to my people, I’ll kill her myself.
    •  See Full Conditions [[[Did Koth choose to stay with you?]]]] Koth Vortena: And I’ll help.
    • On second thought, I agree.Player: There is safety in numbers… and military discipline. The mission’s yours, Major–but we need a diversion.
      • Aric Jorgan: Thank you, Commander. We’re en route.
      • [Switches your choice to Jorgan instead of Kaliyo.]
    • A decoy mission is vital.Player: We also have to make Arcann miserable–and distract him from our real purpose. Havoc Squad can do that better than anyone.
    • My decision is final, Jorgan.Player: Those are my orders. They’re not open to debate. Your job is to keep Arcann away from us.
      • Aric Jorgan: We won’t disappoint, Commander.
    • Kaliyo Djannis: I’m already moving. Be seeing you.
  • Major Jorgan has my vote.Player: If we can’t take control of the GEMINI frequency, we’ll have to destroy it. Havoc Squad has the firepower for that job.
    • Kaliyo Djannis: Without me there to slice that relay station, Major Malfunction’s suicide run will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Give me a chance.
    • You won me over. You’re in.Player: If you’re so committed to not setting off bombs, who am I to argue? Major, I need you to provide our distraction.
      • Kaliyo Djannis: That actually worked. Hunh. This might be fun.
      • Aric Jorgan: I hope you know what you’re doing, Commander.
      • [Switches your choice to Kaliyo instead of Jorgan.]
    • A decoy mission is vital.Player: We also have to make Arcann miserable–and distract him from our real purpose. Havoc Squad can do that better than anyone.
    • I need you as a distraction.Player: We need a perfect diversion, and you’re the best around. Just keep it clean. No civilians, got it?
      • Kaliyo Djannis: What about pets? Kidding.
    • Do as you’re told.Player: Don’t make me repeat myself. If you want to be useful, distract Arcann’s forces.
    • Aric Jorgan: See you at the rendezvous, Commander.
  • Lana Beniko: You can’t please everyone. But it may be prudent to consult Valkorion. He built the Spire. He may tell you how to invade it.

Once you go outside the door to the Odessen wilds,  make sure to look for the glowing blue box and right-click it to pick up your wilderness backpack and medpac.

These will give you two temporary abilities that heal and shield you when you get below 25% health.

You do not need to click these – they will trigger automatically when you get low in health.

  • Player: Valkorion. We need to talk.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular Valkorion: Jedi and their consultations. In too many ways, you remain bound to that order.
  • Trooper OR Bounty Hunter Valkorion: Your life is defined by deeds, not words–and we have nothing to discuss.
  • Sith Warrior Valkorion: You once claimed the mantle of my Wrath. Now look at you… begging for my scraps.
  • Sith Inquisitor Valkorion: Do not presume to manipulate me. We are not Sith, and the Dark Council is dead.
  • Smuggler OR Agent Valkorion: Talking is your greatest talent. It is time I taught you when to listen.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Did you kneel before Valkorion?]]] Valkorion: When you kneeled before me, I thought you would become my greatest ally. How wrong I was, to believe that.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Did you not kneel to Valkorion in Chapter 1, but you did accept Valkorion’s power in Chapter 5, 6, or 8?]]] Valkorion: You took my power, and now come for my secrets. But you have not earned them.
  • See Full Conditions[[[Did you not kneel to Valkorion in Chapter 1, and refused his power every time it was offered?]]] Valkorion: Time and again, you reject my aid. Why would I trust you with secrets you have not earned?
  • This is no time to argue.Player: You saw that mission briefing. You know what’s at stake.
  • You’ve been holding out on me.Player: You always knew what controlled the Eternal Fleet. You should’ve told me.
  • Fine, I don’t need you.Player: I refused your power because I know it isn’t worth the price. You’re proving me right.
  • Valkorion: I am not your servant–and you have trifled with my patience for the last time.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Are you currently in a romance with Theron?]]] Player: Theron, it’s me. Something’s wrong. I need backup.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Are you currently in a romance with Koth?]]] Player: Koth, do you read? There’s trouble. I need you.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Are you in no romance with any of your current companions, or are romanced to Lana?]]] Player: Lana, come in. Something happened. I need your help.
  • Valkorion: Your friends cannot hear you.
  • You isolated me for a reason.Player: You brought me here. Why?
    • Valkorion: Sometimes, evolution requires a push. Or a sacrifice.
  • Am I having another dream?Player: What is this? Another illusion?
    • Valkorion: The time for fantasy is over. What happens now is quite real.
  • I’m sick of you! Let me go!Player: I don’t have time for your insanity! I have a mission on Zakuul!
    • Valkorion: You may still go… if you survive.
  • Valkorion: You have forgotten what it means to face death alone. I will remind you.

Bonus Quest: Clear Cut – Clear Shade Stalkers out of the Forest 0/15

  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular Valkorion: The Force is with you, Jedi, but it will not defeat my son. It never could.
  • Trooper Valkorion: You have survived many battles, but you are still merely a soldier.
  • Smuggler Valkorion: Look at you. Still nothing more than a common criminal hiding behind a blaster.
  • Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior Valkorion: You have mastered the dark side of the Force. It is not enough. It never was.
  • Bounty Hunter Valkorion: Your armor, weapons, and instincts are not enough to secure victory, hunter.
  • Agent Valkorion: You think secrets grant power. That striking from the shadows will be enough. You are wrong.
  • Valkorion: Until you embrace your full potential, you will only be a pawn of fate. Never its master.
  • Stop trying to manipulate me.Player: I follow my own path, Valkorion. Not yours.
    • Valkorion: You truly believe that. How pathetic.
    • Valkorion: The future is not a river to carry us. It is the ocean in which we drown, if we are not prepared.
  • Mastering fate is impossible.Player: Destiny isn’t a personal choice. That’s the whole point.
    • Valkorion: You grasp at understanding like a blind infant.
  • Then show me how, old man.Player: If you have all the answers, let’s hear them. Start with why you let your son betray you.
    • Valkorion: Arcann saw what he wanted, and claimed it. What is your excuse for failing to do the same?
  • Valkorion: You have two destinies, Outlander. In one, you defeat Arcann, claim the Eternal Throne, and remake the galaxy.
  • Valkorion: In the other… you die alone, unmourned and forgotten. I brought you here to taste that defeat.

You fight Valkorion.

No interrupts / stun.

It is impossible to win. You are meant to lose – you just need to get him down to a certain health percent.

  • Valkorion: Pitiful. Why did I ever believe you could change anything?
  • You don’t know me at all.Player: You have no idea what I’m capable of.
    • Valkorion: And neither do you. Therein lies the problem.
  • This wasn’t a fair fight.Player: Give me some credit. It’s not easy to kill a man who’s already dead.
    • Valkorion: Do not mistake your defiance for courage. I do not.
  • Shut up, or finish the job!Player: You want me dead? If that’s what it takes to get rid of you… do it!
    • Valkorion: I will not gift you that release. Not yet.
  • Valkorion: This was a fraction of the pain my children can inflict. If you do not finish your training–become something greater–you will feel the full weight of their rage.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi ConsularThe Jedi Order prepared me.Player: You act like I didn’t leave Tython as a fully-trained Jedi.
  • TrooperI passed basic training.Player: I graduated from the Academy with top honors–and they don’t hand out ranks like mine to just anyone.
  • SmugglerI already know all I need.Player: I’ve been to every school of hard knocks in the galaxy. You’ve got nothing I need, old man.
  • Sith Inquisitor OR Sith WarriorI have mastered the dark side.Player: Training? I know every secret of Korriban, Dromund Kaas, and all the other worlds that dared challenge me.
  • Bounty HunterTraining? You’re funny.Player: I’ve taken down common thugs, giant monsters, and everything in-between. I’d say I’m done training.
  • AgentMy skills are well-honed.Player: Imperial Intelligence prepared me for anything, and I haven’t lost my edge.
    • Valkorion: You do not perceive the path ahead, even when it is obvious. Let that be your first lesson.
  • Something greater?Player: You keep saying I have to become more than I am, but you never explain what that means.
    • Valkorion: You demand a simple answer, refusing to look for it within. That is the essence of your failure.
  • I can endure anything.Player: There’s nothing you or your children can do to me that I won’t survive.
    • Valkorion: Your goal is not to survive. It is to rule. There is nothing else.
  • Valkorion: I cannot stay to protect you any longer. There are matters to which I must attend… but I will leave you with a final token of my favor.
  • Valkorion: Fulfill your destiny, and I promise to return.
  • How are you able to leave?Player: You can exist outside my head? Where are you going–and why?
    • Valkorion: It is pointless to explain. You will understand, when the time comes.
  • See Full Conditions[[[Did you refuse to kneel before Valkorion?]]]Stop trying to scare me.Player: I’ve had enough of your threats. I never wanted this in the first place. You can stay gone.
    • Valkorion: I hope this is not the end of our journey–and one day, so will you.
  • See Full Conditions[[[Did you kneel to Valkorion?]]]You promised we’d be allies.Player: I bent my knee to you. I gave you my loyalty in exchange for your power.
    • Valkorion: You have received all that I can give–for now. One day, there may be more. Until then….
  • Return, and I’ll destroy you.Player: When you come back, I’ll be ready to finish this fight. You won’t survive.
    • Valkorion: I have never been your enemy. Remember that, and be victorious.

  • Vaylin: Cheer up, big brother. You’re making me sad.
  • Arcann: Father won’t face me himself.
  • Vaylin: He’s punishing you for stealing his chair.
  • Arcann: He isn’t angry. Father never feels anything. Not even when I… when Thexan died.
  • Vaylin: He was a good brother. Brought me gifts from all the worlds he conquered.
  • Arcann: I freed you from Father’s control. I hope that earned your… support.
  • Vaylin: My loyalties lie here, Arcann. Always.

  • Player: Now what?

In the Ship

Armor on the wall of the ship: This type of armor is often worn by Jedi.

Locket in the ship cockpit: The holo-image of a young teenager rests in the center of this locket. He reminds you of Theron Shan.

Galaxy map in the ship cockpit: All recently-used travel coordinates have been erased.

Datapad on crate inside ship entrance: A collection of information on the culture of Zakuul.

Outside

Under-construction Holocron, on the table outside: This device appears to be under construction. However, it seems to have limited functionality.

Red datapad about Korriban on the table outside: Korriban Training Facility: Exercises in Harnessing Sith Power

Blue datapad about Tython outside: Tython Training Grounds: Techniques to Achieve Jedi Enlightenment

Log outside: These heavy logs were clearly cut from the surrounding forest, but there are no drag marks to show how they could have been brought to camp. The precision and scorched edges of the cuts suggest a laser or plasma tool was used to fell them.

Meditation rocks outside: A serene place for meditation.

Lightsaber parts on a crate outside: These parts appear to belong to a lightsaber. They don’t seem to be functional.

Journal on a bed in a tent outside: A journal of day-to-day highlights since the author arrived on Odessen. There is no name or signature included.

Datapad on a crate about Zakuul: Information and lore about the Knights of Zakuul.

Book outside on some crates: Author: Tasiele Shan – Title: Aspects of the Force, The Light and the Dark (Tasiele Shan is Satele Shan’s mother – this is one of the writings she left for her daughter in her exile)

Fun note, you can see a young Theron Shan in the “locket”:

Then you can speak with Satele Shan.

  • Satele Shan: I’ve waited for you a long time.
  • Satele Shan: Welcome to my home… “Outlander.”
  • This is unexpected.Player: Jedi Master Satele Shan… When Valkorion told me to finish my training, he meant with you?
    • Satele Shan: You’re asking the wrong person.
  • Refresh my memory about you.Player: You look like someone I used to know. Are you?
    • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular Satele Shan: You don’t recognize your old teacher? Time isn’t the only thing you lost on Zakuul.
    • Trooper OR Smuggler Satele Shan: Was it so long ago that we defended the Republic together as allies? Hmm.
    • Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Satele Shan: I was once considered your Empire’s greatest enemy. How things have changed.
    • Player: Grand Master Satele Shan….
    • Satele Shan: That was another life. It’s just Satele, now.
  • [Flirt] Please be real.Player: Jedi Master Satele Shan… I dreamed about meeting like this. Tell me it’s really happening this time.
    • Satele Shan: Whatever you believe this is, I’d rather not know.
  • Satele Shan: Yes, I’m going to offer a meal. Stop rushing me.
  • Satele Shan: You survived an ordeal. Come, sit. There’s food.
  • I’m needed elsewhere.Player: I was brought here against my will. People are counting on me for help. I have to go.
    • Satele Shan: People are always counting on you. They won’t stop just because you aren’t there.
  • You were talking to yourself.Player: Don’t take this personally, but you’ve gotten… strange.
    • Satele Shan: I think we both have.
  • Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior OR Bounty Hunter OR AgentDon’t test me, Jedi.Player: The only reason you’re still alive is to satisfy my curiosity.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Trooper OR SmugglerWe have nothing to discuss.Player: Unless you’re ready to stop hiding from the war, I’m not wasting my time with you.
    • Satele Shan: Not hungry? Fine. More for us.
  • Satele Shan: Many things changed while you slept in carbonite. I led the fight to save the Republic from Zakuul. Nothing prepared me to face that enemy. I failed, again and again.
  • Player: This camp isn’t new. You’ve been on Odessen for a while.
  • Satele Shan: When the Republic surrendered to Arcann, I gave myself to the will of the Force. I left the Core Worlds and found this planet. We’ve been here for years. Waiting.
  • So you aren’t alone.Player: “We?” Is there someone else here?
    • Satele Shan: In the Force, we are never alone.
  • Waiting for me?Player: You went underground to regroup–but how did you know I’d come here, too?
    • Satele Shan: Our journey here wasn’t about you. Not originally.
  • You coward!Player: “The will of the Force?” You left the galaxy to be conquered by Arcann!
    • Satele Shan: Many confuse reaction for taking control. But there is power in stillness.
  • Satele Shan: We sensed your awakening on Zakuul. Felt the presence of our old enemy guiding you. We witnessed the victories and defeats leading you here.
  • Satele Shan: When we found you in that clearing, we faced a choice. Bring you here… or end you there.
  • See Full Conditions[[[(Are you currently in a romance with Theron?]]]Theron would not approve.Player: I don’t think your son would appreciate it if you killed me.
    • Satele Shan: We didn’t save you to spare Theron’s feelings.
  • See Full Conditions[[Are you not currently in a romance with Theron?]]]And you came to your senses.Player: That’s a little dark for a Jedi. I assume your training stopped you from killing me?
    • Satele Shan: We felt something we’d lost for a long time. Hope.
  • Our meeting was accidental?Player: You’re saying it was pure chance that you found me out there?
    • Satele Shan: Of course not. There are unseen influences working through me… Valkorion… and especially you.
  • You’re too weak to kill me.Player: You don’t have the stomach to kill anyone.
    • Satele Shan: I can kill, when necessary. Today, it isn’t.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior Satele Shan: Valkorion strengthened your bond to the Force. You may be the greatest of us all, but your old training couldn’t prepare you for what’s to come.
  • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Satele Shan: You’ve changed in ways we still don’t understand. Whatever his reasons, Valkorion has opened you to powers–and a destiny–far beyond the horizon of your old life.
  • Satele Shan: You have much to learn. Follow us. Seek the answers throughout the valley. You will know when you find them.

Light Beacons Along the Path

Follow Satele through the forest – you are looking for the glowing blue beacons.

There is 7 beacons to find and they are all clustered along the top half of the map.

Taming Creatures

When you were looking for clues, you also learned about how to tame the beasts in the forest. To tame a creature and gain it as a temporary pet that will fight beside you, find a “Young” animal with a yellow name, then click the orange meditation icon temporary ability to Tame Animal. You can only have one pet at a time. You do not need to tame creatures, it is just for fun and helps in combat.

Bonus: Lost Knowledge – Locate the lost Holocrons of Odessen 0/3 – There are three Locked Holocrons that are glowing blue objects you can right-click. They are slightly off the main path. This bonus is just for fun.

First holocron:

Second holocron:

Third holocron:

You may have to climb cliffs to find these holocrons.

  • Satele Shan: On Odessen, light and dark exist in perfect balance, forming a nexus in the Force. There is another world like it… Zakuul.
  • Satele Shan: Arcann and his Knights learned to use the Force in a different way from Jedi and Sith. It’s why we couldn’t truly defeat them.
  • I’ve defeated many.Player: I faced plenty of warriors from Zakuul. They fell, the same as everyone else.
    • Satele Shan: Don’t confuse them with Arcann. And his sister is another problem entirely.
  • No, it’s because you’re weak.Player: Don’t cover your failure with excuses about how superior the enemy is. You just lack the strength to face them.
    • Satele Shan: You’re starting to understand.
  • How do they use the Force?Player: What makes Arcann and his followers so different from Jedi or Sith?
  • Satele Shan: Jedi approach the Force as a companion, and Sith try to enslave it. But Arcann’s knights believe the Force is their reward for serving an ideal.
  • Satele Shan: They swear their lives to the Eternal Emperor. The more they honor his commandments, the greater their power.
  • Satele Shan: The knights obey their master without question, sacrificing everything for his triumph. Devotion makes them strong. You must become stronger.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi ConsularThat isn’t the Jedi way.Player: Master Satele, that goes against everything you ever taught me. It’s the kind of thing Valkorion would say.
  • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior OR Bounty Hunter OR AgentThat isn’t very Jedi-like.Player: I thought only Sith cared about being the most powerful. You sound like Valkorion.
    • Darth Marr: We are nothing like that man.
  • You’re asking the impossible.Player: If the enemy is willing to sacrifice everything, what price can we pay that they won’t?
    • Darth Marr: Everyone has limits. You must transcend your own.
  • See Full Conditions[[[Did you kneel before Valkorion?]]]I already serve Valkorion.Player: I swore to join Arcann’s father. He gave me power in return. That should be enough.
    • Darth Marr: Power, without loyalty. Duty, without sacrifice.
  • See Full Conditions[[[Did you not kneel before Valkorion?]]]I have no master.Player: The knights of Zakuul are slaves to the Eternal Emperor. I will never be like them.
    • Darth Marr: Those who do not bend… break.
  • Player: Darth Marr.
  • Darth Marr: Valkorion destroyed my flesh, but not my reason for being.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Trooper OR SmugglerRevenge is what drives you.Player: Is defeating your old master so important that you refuse to die?
    • Darth Marr: I have no use for vengeance. My goal remains the same: defend the Empire.
  • Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior OR Bounty Hunter OR AgentThis isn’t your style, Marr.Player: You never cared about becoming immortal. But I guess dying changes everything.
    • Darth Marr: Denying the void’s embrace… taxes me. But I will not leave our Empire undefended.
  • Even in death, you’re armored.Player: Nothing can hurt you, now. All that armor is pointless.
    • Darth Marr: I appear to you as I wish to be remembered. A symbol.
  • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR AgentI don’t believe this is real.Player: I saw that man die five years ago. What is this, Jedi? A hologram?
    • Darth Marr: The Force is more powerful than death. You will learn.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith WarriorYou corrupted Satele Shan.Player: I knew something was wrong. You turned her to the dark side. She’s your apprentice.
    • Darth Marr: Apprentice… master… those labels have no meaning here.
  • Darth Marr: After my defeat, I sought an ally to make things right again. But only one in all the galaxy was my equal.
  • Darth Marr: We met on this world. We argued, explored… and found an understanding. We now pass that knowledge to you.
  • Teach me.Player: If Jedi and Sith have found a way to work together, I want to know how.
  • I don’t trust either of you.Player: I can’t decide what’s worse, that you went soft or Satele fell to the dark side.
    • Satele Shan: If our roles were reversed, I’d feel the same doubt.
  • Just leave me alone.Player: I don’t want your help. I’ve had enough people telling me what to do!
    • Satele Shan: We don’t want to control you.
  • Satele Shan: No one is more surprised than I am to be here, in this moment. But I trust the will of the Force.
  • Darth Marr: We do not offer empty platitudes. We do not promise easy victory.
  • Satele Shan: All we ask is that you listen with an open mind–and learn from our failures.
  • Darth Marr: To forge the future, you must first break with the past. Victory over Arcann requires new perspectives… and new weapons.
  • Satele Shan: Follow the will of the Force into the wilderness beyond this camp. Find what we left for you, and meet us in the cave.

I think is some alternate dialogue that didn’t make it in-game.

  • Player: I’ll sacrifice anything to stop Arcann and bring down Zakuul.
  • Darth Marr: Imitation. The sincerest form of failure
  • I don’t trust either of you. Player: I can’t decide what’s worse, that you went soft or Satele fell to the dark side.
  • Satele Shan: If our roles were reversed, I’d feel the same doubt.
  • Satele Shan: But if you listen with an open mind, you will soon have a weapon that could defeat Arcann.
  • Darth Marr: Make your path.

Locate Secrets Items in the Odessen Wilderness

There are seven glowing blue objects hidden in the odessen wildnerness – they are marked in purple spinning circles on the map. The crystal cave requires you to right-click the big boulder above the crystals, it doesn’t always glow. These are what you are looking for:

  • ☐ Custom Micro-Board
  • ☐ High Energy Shielded Canister
  • ☐ Phrik Weapon Casing
  • ☐ Harmonically Synchronized Force Crystal
  • ☐ Isotope X Fusion Core
  • ☐ Atomic Tri-Layered Heat Sink
  • ☐ Basic Switch

Once you find them all, you make your way to the cave.

There you will find Vaylin.

  • Vaylin: Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock….
  • Vaylin: Tell me… Do you believe in the future?
  • Yes, and you aren’t in it.Player: I have a future, Vaylin. But you don’t.
    • Vaylin: Just the way I like it.
    • End of Conversation
  • Satele and Marr betrayed me!Player: I knew this had to be a trap. How long have that Jedi and Sith been helping you?
    • Vaylin: Surrounded by assassins. Poor, pitiful you.
  • [Attack.]Player: I believe in this…

You fight Vaylin in the cave.

She is quite strong, even in the story mode version of this fight – much stronger than any other enemy you’ve likely fought in the chapters so far.

Your special shield you and medpac you picked up earlier in the chapter will automatically trigger when you are at 25% health, so you don’t have to worry about using them. But even with those, this fight is rough, and it will not let you summon a companion.

She can not be stunned or interrupted.

Cave Rumble – You MUST focus on getting out of the red circles on the ground. She will put down 3 circles in a row, so just keep moving and walking away until she has put all 3 down.

Siphon – She will stun you during her Siphon attack and lift you in the air. If you have your stunbreaker available, you can use it. Your stunbreaker is available every 2 minutes, and every class has one. Some classes might have more – just be careful, do not use the stealth out stunbreaker if you are a stealther or it will reset the fight.

Force Destruction – She will cast Force Destruction as a 3-second cast. During this time she can not be hurt, so you might as well save your energy or heal yourself during this time if you can. She will have a big purple shield.

Lastly, this might be a good point to upgrade your gear if you haven’t recently, and to get really familiar with your class’s defensive abilities. Basic Class Guides

Her body disappears when she falls.

  • Player: I fought Arcann’s sister. Vaylin was right here….
  • Satele Shan: No. That was merely a warning. A vision.
  • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Satele Shan: You do not use the Force, but Valkorion’s power lets you glimpse through it.
  • Darth Marr: Heed what you saw. Behind Arcann stands Vaylin… and behind her, many others. They will all try to stop you.
  • Darth Marr: The weapon you wield was built for a different war. A different enemy. It no longer serves you. It must change, as you have.
  • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Player: The devices I found out there… I can build a new weapon with them.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior Player: You want me to build a new lightsaber.
  • Darth Marr: Much more than that–a projection of your will. Wield it wisely, and you will unite the stars beneath your own banner.
  • Satele Shan: We offer to add our strength to yours, but you must be the guiding hand. Focus the power, and decide what form it takes.
  • Let’s begin.Player: I’m ready when you are. [Both will stay, Unity buff.]
  • You can stay. Marr, keep out.Player: You’ve changed, Satele–but I still prefer the living to the dead. [Satele will stand with you, Serenity buff.]
    • Darth Marr: So be it.
  • I want Marr’s help, not yours.Player: Darth Marr has proven he’s stronger than death itself. That’s the kind of power I need. [Marr will stand with you, Vengeance buff.]
    • Satele Shan: Very well.
  • Darth Marr: You will create a pure extension of the Force’s will–one you alone control. With it, you can unite a thousand stars.
  • Satele Shan: A bond to the Force as intense as yours brings with it powerful insight.

Depending on whether you ask Satele to stay, or Marr to stay, or both, your weapon will get a different buff.

Serenity: Satele Shan’s lingering influence fills you with a serene sense of calm. Grants you Serenity, which absorbs 20% of the Damage caused by Arcann’s attacks.

Vengeance: Darth Marr’s lingering influence makes you hunger for vengeance. Grants you Vengeance, which reflects 20% of the Damage caused by Arcann’s attacks.

Unity: You have harnessed the unified beliefs of Satele Shan and Darth Marr. Grants you Unity, which absorbs and reflects 10% incoming damage.

Then you get to choose another buff.

  • [Focus on transcendence.]Player: There’s no limit I can’t surpass….
  • [Focus on sacrifice.]Player: There’s no loss I can’t survive….
  • [Focus on resilience.]Player: There’s no defeat I can’t overcome….

Depending on which one you chose your weapon gets a second buff.

Transcendence: You have moved beyond the limits of your past. Grants you Transcendence which increases movement speed by 150% for 15 seconds. Does not break Stealth.

Sacrifice: You are prepared to lose everything to achieve ultimate victory. Grants you Sacrifice which allows you to sacrifice 25% of your health to increase your damage by 25%. Only useable above 25% health.

Resilience: No matter the challenge, you will endure. Grants you Resilience, which heals 25% of your max health over 15 seconds.

  • Player: It’s done.
  • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Darth Marr: That weapon is part of you, now. The next time you face Arcann in battle, he will not be ready for it.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith WarriorDarth Marr: That blade is part of you, now. The next time you face Arcann in battle, he will not be ready for you.
  • Satele Shan: But violence can only destroy. It doesn’t inspire others to greatness, and it can never rebuild. Only a leader can do that.
  • Darth Marr: I once thought it enough to be the unstoppable force between my people and the enemy.
  • Darth Marr: I faced Valkorion and refused to bend. That choice broke me–and doomed the worlds I sought to defend.
  • Satele Shan: I sent Jedi to fight an enemy I didn’t understand, because I believed in the justness of my cause. Those deaths still haunt me.
  • Satele Shan: We know what it means to fail those who counted on us. We would spare you that pain.
  • Your advice is helpful.Player: It’s better for me to learn from your mistakes than repeat them.
  • Spare me your whining.Player: You failed and fell apart–in Marr’s case, literally. That doesn’t mean I’ll do the same.
    • Jedi Knight Satele Shan: Your brief time as the Supreme Commander of Jedi forces on Corellia tested you, and exposed your limitations.
    • Jedi Consular Satele Shan: Your skill preventing the Rift Alliance from leaving the Republic was impressive, but the challenges you face now are far more complex.
    • Trooper Satele Shan: Havoc Squad achieved great things as a small team under your command, but this is different.
    • Smuggler Satele Shan: You were respected in the galactic underworld. You briefly commanded the Voidwolf’s mercenary fleet. But you’ve never truly served anyone except yourself.
    • Sith Warrior Darth Marr: As the Wrath, you were always forced to stand alone. You planned and executed without regard for others.
    • Sith Inquisitor Darth Marr: Your onetime power base was impressive, but in the end you were still only one facet of the Dark Council.
    • Bounty Hunter Darth Marr: You have spent your life among mercenaries fighting for honor, or wealth. The people serving you now have far more complex motivations.
    • Agent Darth Marr: Imperial Intelligence taught you how to manipulate others from the shadows, but you cannot rule that way forever.
  • Darth Marr: Leading this Alliance is unlike anything you have done before. Directing the war effort is a mere fraction of the burden you must bear.
  • Satele Shan: You must not only know when to fight, but when to retreat–or even to make peace with your foe.
  • Satele Shan: There is an oasis not far from this cave. Your final lesson waits there.

Then you receive the Attuned weapon you forged. It will come with the buffs you chose. Each weapon looks a little different, and they are unique in the game.

Attuned Force-Lord’s / Attuned Duelist’s Saberstaff

Attuned Boltblaster’s / Attuned Med-Tech’s Assault Cannon

Attuned Boltblaster’s / Attuned Med-Tech’s / Attuned Mender’s / Attuned Demolisher’s / Attuned Targeter’s Blaster Pistol

Attuned Boltblaster’s / Attuned Demolisher’s / Attuned Mender’s / Attuned Targeter’s Blaster Rifle

Attuned Targeter’s Sniper Rifle

You can see the similar details on Satele Shan’s lightsaber from the cartel market, though hers is silver colored, and some of the weapons have fin-shapes that are reminiscent of Darth Marr’s lightsaber. The bronze color is unique to the attuned weapons though.

Afterwards, you head out of the cave.

You fight Young Cave Jurgorans.

  • Satele Shan: You killed her children. She will devour you as revenge.
  • Darth Marr: What hope do you have to escape such raw fury?

  • [Try to calm the beast.]Player: Escape isn’t always possible.
    • Player: If you accept that death has power over you, it stops being your enemy… and becomes an ally.
    • Player: When that happens… you don’t have to fight.
  • [Stand your ground.]
  • [Fight the beast.]Player: I don’t need to escape. I only need to fight.

If you choose the light-side option, you do not fight the creature.

If you choose the dark-side option, you fight the Cave Jurgoran.

  • See Full Conditions [[[Did you fight the beast earlier in the chapter?]]] Satele Shan: You killed your enemy and claimed its home… for now.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Did you calm the beast earlier in the chapter?]] Satele Shan: You created peace from a violent confrontation. Impressive.
  • Satele Shan: Some believe you’re destined to walk this path. Others think you make the choices that decide their fates.
  • Darth Marr: Your Alliance will collapse if you do not know yourself–and the ideal you serve. Do you understand?
  • Destiny guides me.Player: Whatever fate has in store for me and the Alliance, I’m ready.
  • My will is all that matters.Player: There is no destiny. My choices make all the difference.
  • Jedi Knight OR Jedi ConsularI’ll honor the Jedi Code.Player: Nothing you told me has shaken my belief in the Jedi path. If this was a test, you’ll have to try harder.
  • Sith Inquisitor OR Sith WarriorI’ll still obey the Sith code.Player: If you thought you could sway me from the only true path to power, you’re as misguided as you are broken. I am Sith.
  • Trooper OR SmugglerI’ll preserve the Republic.Player: The enemy may have changed, but the reason I fight hasn’t. I defend the Republic’s freedom. Always have, always will.
  • Bounty Hunter OR AgentI’ll defend the Empire.Player: Zakuul’s just as childish and confused as the Republic. The Empire is my home–and Arcann isn’t taking it away from me.
  • Satele Shan: I understand.
  • My Alliance needs you.Player: Nothing’s more important than staying to help me defeat Arcann.
    • Satele Shan: Our time has passed. This is your war to fight.
    • Satele Shan: Trust in the path ahead. The Alliance awaits its Commander. Farewell.
  • But I still have questions.Player: You can’t leave. You’ve barely told me anything I need to know.
    • Satele Shan: You know what must be done. That’s enough.
  • [[If you are light-side ]] Go, then. I don’t need you.Player: I’ll get back to saving the galaxy. You two, do… whatever it is you’re doing–far, far away from me.
  • [[If you are dark-side ]]  No. [Kill Satele Shan.]Player: You aren’t leaving. I’m dealing with you here, now–before you become a threat. [[[You do not succeed at killing Satele Shan.]]]
    • See Full Conditions [[[Are you in a romance with Theron?]] Satele Shan: Poor Theron.
    • Satele Shan: It’s not my time to die. Not yet.
    • Player: I’ll find you… someday.
  • Satele Shan: Your way is clear, and so is ours. Do you feel it, Marr? The Force draws us… elsewhere.
  • Darth Marr: The exile on Odessen is over.
  • Satele Shan: A new path has opened, thanks to you. Our duty is to follow it.

    • Kaliyo Djannis: Sublevel four open. No guards. Hmph. So close to a new kill record….
    • Senya: We should’ve canceled her mission when the Commander disappeared. She’s unstable.
    • Lana Beniko: She’s ahead of schedule. And the casualties are acceptable.
    • Kaliyo Djannis: So glad to have your support.
    • Lana Beniko: The relay station is only three levels away. Be prepared to slice the GEMINI frequency the moment you’re inside.

    • Kaliyo Djannis: Over your dead body.
    • Senya: Or yours. Let’s not be picky.
    • Kaliyo has my confidence.Player: I sent Kaliyo on this mission for a reason. Let her work.
    • Don’t threaten my assassin.Player: Enough. Kaliyo may be a homicidal lunatic… but she’s my homicidal lunatic.
    • No one saw me enter? Really?Player: If I were an assassin droid, you’d all be dead.

  • Aric Jorgan: Recon team gave the all-clear. We’re entering sublevel four.
  • Theron Shan: Five by five, Major. Transmitting optimal path to the next security checkpoint….
  • Lana Beniko: Try not to shoot everything this time. There are only so many storage lockers to put Skytroopers in.
  • Aric Jorgan: That’s half the challenge. What kind of Sith are you?
  • Senya: I’ve identified the hyperwave relay station’s weak points. Demolition charges at each one will maximize the blast radius.
  • Kaliyo Djannis: You want to destroy our best chance to take control of the Eternal Fleet. Unbelievable. I feel my IQ dropping just hearing you talk.
  • See Full Conditions [[[Did Koth stay?]]]  Koth Vortena: Maybe you’ll forget how to breathe.

  • No one saw me enter? Really?Player: If I were an assassin droid, you’d all be dead.
  • I give the orders here, Senya.Player: I don’t remember promoting you to Commander before I left.

    • Lana Beniko: Everything. We had to improvise without you.
  • It’s a long story. Listen…Player: Valkorion dragged me into the wilderness and almost killed me. Then, he left my mind to go… somewhere else. He wouldn’t say.
    • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Player: Satele Shan and the ghost of Darth Marr have been here on Odessen the whole time. They found me in the wilderness.
    • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Theron Shan: My mother’s here? With Darth Marr?
    • Trooper OR Smuggler OR Bounty Hunter OR Agent Player: Not anymore. They left on some other mission–but not before revealing what it’ll take to stop Arcann. It’s… complicated.
    • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior Player: I found Satele Shan with the spirit of Darth Marr. They helped me build a new lightsaber to defeat Arcann.
    • Jedi Knight OR Jedi Consular OR Sith Inquisitor OR Sith Warrior Player: They’re a team, now. Following the will of the Force.
    • Lana Beniko: That’s an awful lie. It must be true.

Codex Entry: Odessen Wildlife: Evolution

If you find the first Lost Knowledge datacron, you’ll also unlock a codex by walking into the area.

Notes from Doctor Juvard Illip Oggurobb: Due to the rapid escalation of evolution observed on Odessen, I have imported creatures from other planets and released them into the wilds to monitor the effects. The sleen, extracted from the jungles of Dromund Kaas, exhibited a marked increase in agility and reaction time. Perhaps this creature’s serum could be used to make performance-enhancing adrenals. From Makeb, I secured a fine makrin specimen with the intent of studying its adaptability. As predicted, this remarkable species altered the texture of its skin to better mirror the sturdy hardwoods of Odessen forests. The Taris bogstalker saw the most shockingly rapid evolution thus far. The creature developed an incredible predatory feature: a plasteel-like barb at the end of its tail. It has evolved enough to warrant a new breed, which I call the ‘steel-tailed stalker.’ I’ve allowed the creatures to continue their existence on Odessen, as I hope to further observe their acclimation.
