Taev’alyc’aelz, or Val to her friends, was born with an independent streak a parsec wide, so it wasn’t much of a surprise that she didn’t take well to mandatory military service in the Chiss Expeditionary Defense Force. She hated freshly-starched uniforms, precisely-angled salutes, and surprise inspections with a fiery passion. She hated taking orders even worse. Her superiors were almost relived when she deserted less than a year into her commitment; they might have been more so if she hadn’t robbed the armory on the way out.

Drifting on the hyperlanes, with nothing but a good blaster, a fast ship, and a razor wit to keep her alive, Val found her calling. She loves waking up each day with the thrill of wondering if she’ll be around to do it again tomorrow. It’s never about the money; it’s about having a blast with whoever and whatever until the day she makes the final jump. When it comes to that, she plans to go out in a way that people will talk about forever, though she doesn’t have any idea what it’ll be. Val hates to see people getting pushed around, and often gets herself involved in messes that have nothing to do with her. Getting out of the mess is the fun part.
