Black-White Color Crystal

The black-white color crystal does not exist in SWTOR... except when it does! This crystal has popped up mysteriously here and there in-game, and seems to have never been intended to actually have been released... but it has popped up from time to time on the SWTOR forums.

In a very old thread from 2015 on reddit a player said they were wishing for a black core and white outline crystal... and another player responded 'Like this one?' with a link to an image. The image shows a player on the Republic Fleet in red and black trooper armor who seems to be wielding the Black-White crystal.



When asked where it came from, the player who posted the image replied... 'Wish I could know. The guy on screen claims he can't remember where did it came from. As far as I understand (and my google skills are kinda low) people sold some kind of lightsabers in columi-centurion times, then wrote ticket to CS for retrieval and got lightsabers with "wrong" black-core crystal inside.'

I unfortunately couldn't find any source of the original image and that story! I did find one more copy of that image uploaded, with a file name of 'Gizka 3' - perhaps that was the name of the original player who took the screenshot.

There's about 26 items in the game-files with the Black-White crystal color, in various levels and stat variations, and the naming scheme (like Advanced Black-White Mortal Crystal or Advanced Black-White Vehemence Crystal or Advanced Black-White Centurion's Crystal) means the developers may have been looking to introduce this crystal in various ways starting in Update 1.2.0 - but in the end it was never released.

This was long before Ahsoka made the Darksaber extremely popular, but Destiny, the twelfth episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, first showed the saber in 2014, but update 1.2.0 came out in 2012.. so apparently SWTOR had the idea first! There is a very small chance that Lucasfilm asked them to hold off, if they had ideas for the darksaber coming in the future.
