SWTOR Pre-Expansion – Should I Deconstruct my gear? Should I open boxes?

How to Prepare for the 7.0 Expansion

Ok so here is the combination of advice from Xamxam and my own comments about gearing before the expac and saving for tech frags.

1. If you have any renown boxes, open them before the expac. They have nothing in them after the expansion. Bioware advised to open now too.

2. If you can max out your tech frags to 11,000 before the expansion, do that. You will need tech frags on the expansion. It seems they may be harder to get but this is not finalized.

3. If you do not have many tech frags and do not think you will reach 11,000 before the expac, DECONSTRUCT leftover gear and OPEN any boxes.

4. If you plan on having maxed out tech frags in the expac, SAVE your gear to DECONSTRUCT and save your boxes to open after expac launch. She says she thinks gear still deconstructs. BOXES open, but instead of having gear, on the PTS they gave like 5-6 tech frags per box (instead of 5-6 pieces of gear on live). If you have a different goal, like achievements or credits, I’d say maybe one them on live since the values in expac are so low – but every little bit helps thinks Xamxam! I am personally open all boxes and putting the gear in my legacy bay do deconsruct after the expac.

5. Don’t forget for this coming Tuesday week, if you want to get ahead, earn 100,000 conquest instead of 50,000 to get your reward on Feb 15 for personal and or guild conquest.

6. People keep asking will tactical still work. It’s complicated. But assume yes for now.

7. Will your set bonus work? No. It’s being deprecated. Lol.

8. Should you DECONSTRUCT gear you are wearing? I wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll probably appreciate not going into the expansion naked. People are also saying 306 current gear may be better stats wise than early expansion gear at a higher item rating due to better optimisation of stats.

9. Augments blue, purple or gold will still be great for expac. Save your augments. You will need new kits when you choose to equip them.
