Character Modernization appearance changes screenshots form the PTS

These are some initial tests I did on the test server. If you are happy/unhappy with the way your characters looks on the live server I’d really like to encourage you to test on the PTS and post your feedback on the thread. I tested only a very small portion of body shape / type / color options!

Neck Seams

This is looking really good! Neck Seams are mostly visisble when your character is underdressed – otherwise it is covered by your armor or collar.

You can see on the left a harsh line – the right is on the test server.

Face Smoothing

This one I was less impressed by.

I have struggled to see the differences in my own characters on live except for the chiss splotchy skin.

But I do see the changes in my friend’s character – not just that their character looks “older” but also just.. more… off? It doesn’t quite look like their character anymore like before all the updates. They have a lot more wrinkles/bags under the eyes in bright lighting, the frown/smile lines are deeper, and the face seems to be more in chunks rather than one smooth object. It kind of reminds me of cellulite texturing. Same as many people have mentioned, I like the idea of being able to age up my character a bit or have more customization options, but I don’t like my older characters / NPCs changing the way they used to look with no real benefits.

I grabbed some screenshots from their last PTS test and tried to recreate them on the new PTS, in front of a light (left) and without lighting (right)

I’m finding it really hard to test or give feedback though,

Even just the tiniest change in lighting changes it dramatially
All i know is the original on the top right looks best
and i cant tell a huge difference between new pts and old pts – stilly have wrinkles/bags under the eyes in bright light, still have more pronounced smile/frown lines, but I think the cellulite texture on the neck is smoother on the new PTS… but it could be because of the very bright lighting. Hard to test.
