SWTOR 2026 Roadmap

Here’s what the developers posted is coming up in SWTOR in 2026 – this includes a new expansion! These dates are approximate guesses on when they might take place based on the developer’s letter and the 7.8.1 livestream.

March 10, 2026 – Game Update 7.8.1 – Master’s Enigma

This update was originally announced in late 2025 to come out in “late winter” – it launched March 10, 2026.

What is in Update 7.8.1?

• Master’s Enigma Storyline (new story)
• Date Nights (Kira and Torian)
• Galactic Season 10 (Altuur and PH4 return)
• Spring Abundance Festival (March 10)

March 2026 – Producer’s letter, news update, DX12 info

We know that later in March, we’ll be getting quarter developer’s letter with some mor tidbits about what’s coming up in the future – including some info about DX12, a future technical upgrade to the game.

In February 2026, on a developer livestream for 7.8.1, the developers said we should expect an update on DirectX 12 with the Producer Letter in March 2026. They are making sure they are doing it right, but are not ready for testing yet on the Public Test Server.

May 4th events and rewards

May the 4th be with you aka Star Wars day always had some fun stuff in SWTOR, and this year might be even better with the launch of the new movie Mandalorian and Grogu later in the month on May 22. Star Wars Day often comes with:

• sub rewards
• double xp
• sales

Late April / Early May 2026 – Update 7.9 Developer Livestream

We’ll be learning more about what is coming in Update 7.9 in the next developer livestream, which the developers are aiming to have sometime in May 2026. 7.9 will have the finale of the current storyline!

May/June 2026 – Game Update 7.9 – Legacy Reborn

While we don’t have an exact date for 7.9, we know the next story update will be in it and we know it will be in “Spring 2026”, presumably some time after the developer livestream about it in May.

What will be in Game Update 7.9 – Legacy Reborn?

• Legacy Reborn Storyline
• PvP Season 10
• Conclusion/finale of the current story and expansion
• Introducing the next story Era
• “you can expect quite the shake-up across the galaxy”

August/September 2026 – Game Update 7.9.1

We have very little details of 7.9.1, other than it will mainly include the Galactic Season 11 start – there may be more that hasn’t been announced, but the developers sound like they will be mainly focusing on a bigger update for the end of the year and keeping the middle of the year update light. Season 10 ends sometime at the end of July 2026.

• Galactic Season 11 (return of Fen Zeil and Amity)

June/July, 2026 – Nar Shaddaa Nightlife

• Nar Shaddaa Nightlife with new rewards will be in the game sometime in June/July, though maybe not directly with the update 7.9.1

October/November 2026 – Feast of Prosperity

• Later in the year, October/November 2026 – Feast of Prosperity with new reward(s)

October/November/December 2026 – PTS

PTS testing for 8.0 later in the year, though we have very little info about dates – the developers will simply let us test it when it’s ready to test.

December 2026 – 15th Anniversary

While the developers have not announced exactly what they are planning for the 15th anniversary, it sounds like they are doing something special for it. All anniversary events usually come with free stuff and discounted strongholds. The actual anniversary will be December 20, 2026 but the event usually starts a sooner than that.

December 2026 – 8.0!

While the details have been very scarce, the developers first announced they were working on 8.0 at the end of last year and are aiming to release it at the end of 2026. What exactly this expansion will include is a mystery – we haven’t had an expansion in a few years!

We do know they have said that 8.0 will:

• Kick off the nexta Era of The Old Republic Storyline
• Create new content, gameplay, and systems that appeal to group, solo, and story players
• Celebrate the breadth and depth of SWTOR to power new content and systems
• Throughout the year they will share about 80. several differeent ways, including livestreams, blogs, videos, short stories, and Public Test Server
• We will see the first details about 8.0 in the Late April / Early May developer livestream – woohoo!

Expansions usually include:

• New story / story era
• Level increase
• Gear increase
• New solo content
• New group content
• New / upgrades systems

While we don’t know exactly what those might look like for the 8.0 expansion, I’m looking forward to it!
