FREE “First of it’s Kind” COMPANION MOUNT Meirm Cicada for Subscribers in 7.6! Subscribe between November 29, 2024 and January 4, 2025

Lots of great news has been unpacked so far from the 7.6 Dev Livestream lately, and this new reward for subscribed SWTOR players is no exception! We’ll have a new, more generalized article covering this new feature and type of mount later on for folks, but for now, all SWTOR players thinking of, or already subscribing should know about this thank-you gift on the way shortly – “Companion Mounts” are coming to SWTOR, and the first one is free!

What are Companion Mounts?

Pictured above, the Meirm Cicada is the first of a brand-new type of vehicle coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic. “Companion Mounts”, as titled in the most recent Developer Livestream, are vehicles that you’ll be able to add your current summoned companion to ride-along with you. This has been a constant immersion-nitpick for players of SWTOR since it’s inception – where does my companion go when I get on my speeder bike solo, and how do they pop up where I get off? Now, finally, you can take Jorgan (or other companions) with you on relaxing drives through the fields of Dantooine (or anywhere else you can drive)!

Hawk-eyed players may also notice a certain loth-cat pet enjoying a seat further back on the Meirm Cicada behind the driver seat. This vehicle not only will cart around your active companion, but also your mini pet! Pet-enabled vehicles are yet another new edition, and while the Meirm Cicada will be capable of both, not all vehicles going forward will be designed this way. For example, in the image below, new vehicle rewards for other content will be coming out with just room for your mini pet, but no companion. This will certainly add some diversity in what vehicles coming up may be possible, and hopefully even a few previous mounts could be retrofitted for this purpose!

How Do I Get The Meirm Cicada Companion Mount?

As a thank you to players who have consistently stuck with and supported SWTOR, the Meirm Cicada mount will be FREE to any player subscribed in the very near future – November 29th – January 4th. This means that for some players currently subscribed, their mount is essentially already guaranteed, so long as their current subscription lasts just a couple more weeks! For those that only subscribe intermittantly or are hesitant to subscribe, the time to do it is very soon! Note that the mount will not be delivered to players directly on November 29th, but will be awarded to anyone who meets the criteria for it upon the launch of Game Update 7.6: Galactic Threads.
