SWTOR Graphic Flickering and Disappearing World / Terrain Bugs / Colorblind Mode Fix

Hi everyone,

We have an update regarding the issue that players are seeing when they use Colorblind Mode.

It was found during our investigation that this bug is linked to the fix we deployed with game update 7.2.1b for the flickering effects issues:

• Changed how the level of texture detail is chosen to reduce the flickering effect on certain systems.

We are currently working on a resolution to retain both Colorblind Mode and the flickering effects fix, however, it will take some time before it is ready to be deployed. We do not want players to be without Colorblind Mode, so we will be deploying a hotfix later today to revert the initial flickering textures fix.

We will update this thread when the hotfix is deployed. There will be no downtime required for this. When players log back in, Colorblind Mode should be restored.

Regarding the fix for the flickering texture issues, our team is aiming to target Game Update 7.3 to get it deployed.

Additionally, players are reporting that different parts of the world are disappearing at specific camera angles in specific locations. This can also appear as a form of flickering when moving the camera. Note that this is a different issue than the flickering effects issue stated above. We are investigating these reports further.

In all, we are currently tracking three different issues:

• Restoring Colorblind Mode with a hotfix that will revert the flickering texture fix that went out with 7.2.1b.
• An issue with rapidly changing texture quality on machines that have less than the required amount of video memory. Many reports of this behavior can be found here.
• Parts of the world are disappearing at specific locations. This can look similar to the flickering texture issue, but it is a separate issue entirely. We are doing further investigation on this.
