SWTOR Hammer Station Flashpoint Guide

Hammer Station is a Flashpoint in Star Wars: The Old Republic that can be run with friends, or with other random players through the groupfinder. It’s one of the most frequently run Flashpoint due to its availability as a low-level flashpoint in the groupfinder, and because it can be run very quickly by experienced players.

Hammer Station

Constructed by the Republic Engineering Corps during the war, Hammer Station was designed to serve as the ultimate deterrent against the Empire; a devastating superweapon that could wreak planet-wide destruction. The prototype battle station was built to utilize a gravity cannon that could hurl asteroids at planets and enemy capital ships. Once the Treaty or Coruscant was signed, the Republic military decommissioned the station and it was assumed to be destroyed when sent on a collision course with a nearby sun. Now the station has reappeared under the control of the Advozse Hegemony, who have begun using the station’s cannon to conquer unaligned worlds near the contested borders. Allowing the Advozsec to control the station poses a threat to both the Empire and the Republic, and both sides now assemble strike teams to storm Hammer Station and eliminate this deadly threat once and for all.

Story/Solo – Republic Instructions

Unfortunately, there is no story or solo version of the Hammer Station Flashpoint. You can watch the very short introductory cutscene by yourself, but without a group, you likely won’t be able to finish the Flashpoint in any of its available modes.

Hammer Station has a Veteran mode, which is designed for 4 players level 15-80. However, if you are higher level, and have a higher skill level, gear level, and companion influence level, you may be able to run the entire Flashpoint solo with some patience and practice. Otherwise, you will need to run this Flashpoint with a group you put together in general chat, or through the group finder.

To learn more about where to pick up the introductory quest to see the start of the story, or to learn how to run it through the groupfinder, see the other tabs.

How to see the Introductory Quest Solo

Step 1 – On the Republic Fleet, take the eastern elevator to the Dropship Launch Hangar level

If you are level 80, it will give you the option to choose between Veteran and Master. If you are below level 80, you will automatically be given then Veteran mode quest.

You next options are:

  • head on inside the nearby colorful door for Hammer Station and try to solo it even though it is designed for 4 players

Veteran – Republic Instructions

Hammer Station has a repeatable 4-player Veteran version. It is meant to be completed by a group with any type of Republic characters in it, you do not necessarily need a tank or healer to complete it. You will likely also have good luck with 2 players and 2 companions, or 3 players and 1 companion.

Group Finder: If you want to queue up and enter Hammer Station in veteran mode through the group finder, you will need to be level 15-80 and not currently on any Hammer Station Flashpoint quests or it won’t show up as an option in the group finder. If you are level 15-80, click the icon of “three little people” on the bottom right of your screen which will open the Activity Finder Window. Then choose the Group tab in the Activity Finder.

Filter: If you want to specifically run Hammer Station and not a random Flashpoint, make sure to choose Veteran Flashpoints, then click the Filter button the right and narrow your choices down to just Hammer Station before pressing Join Queue. Joining the queue will put you in line to be matched with random players to play Hammer Station with.

Groupfinder flashpoints do NOT show the cutscenes. To see the cutscenes related to this Flashpoint, you must enter it manually by walking in the door.

Bring a Friend in the Groupfinder: You can queue up with a group of 2, 3, or 4 players in the group finder. If you have a full group of 4, it will bring you straight to the Flashpoint with your full group. If you have 2 or 3 players in your group, the group finder will match you with other random players until you have a full group – but you’ll always be paired with your friends who started off in your group, and will not be split up.

Veteran Manual Entry (Republic): To enter this Flashpoint manually, you must go to the Hammer Station’s Flashpoint entrance, which is located on the Republic Fleet, and you need to take the eastern fleet elevator to the Dropship Launch Hangar level, and pick it up from a terminal. It will have a short cutscene to explain the story of the Flashpoint presented by Satele Shan.

Bring a Friend Manually: Veteran Mode Flashpoints are not meant to be completed alone, though highly-skilled, highly-geared, high-level players might be able to. To bring friends along for this Veteran Flashpoint, they’ll need to pick up the Veteran Mode quest from the terminal – or you can pick up the quest and share it with them, but they’ll still need to walk in the door manually. Characters walking in the door need to be level 15+.

Skips

Hammer station is known for being a very fast flashpoint that people will do over and over to level up, making it sort of the “community flashpoint” where many people just run it quickly because the skip routes are so popular. Players over time have organized a specific way of pulling and fighting the enemies in the flashpoint.

Solo Stealth: If you are playing Hammer Station alone and are on a Stealth character, or are playing in an all-stealth group, you can skip about 90% of the enemies. It’d a good one for stealthing and soloing for skilled players, even though it has no solo mode available!

Skip #1 – Line-of-Sight (LOS)

This hallway is the very first one you get into after fighting 2 droids and heading through an elbow-shaped tunnel. You’ll see quite a few droids in this next open area. What most groups in Hammer Station do to make it easier on everyone is to shoot one of the droids, then run back into the elbow hallway. The goal of this is to group up all of the droids on top of each other so they are easier to defeat (otherwise, a lot of incoming damage can easily kill groups with no/inexperienced tanks).

So you just shot all the droids and they’re chasing you. Head back into this hallway and cut across this jutting corner support and bury yourself in this little nook our nautolan is standing in. With the corner support in between you and the droids, they’ll all be forced to clump up and stand on top of eachother at the nearest place they can re-acquire you as a target. Scrunched up like this, you can now use area attacks to take them all down quickly. May want to pop a defensive ability, too. If you’re standing far out like our cathar in the image, they may not clump up enough. Make sure the whole team is cuddled in the nook! For future reference, this is known as “LoS”ing the pack. (Line of Sight).

Skip #2 – Line-of-Sight (LOS)

Right around the corner is a slightly less common LoS opportunity. The droids here are a little spread out and so you can run out, shoot one, and then stand here at the ol’ trusty nautolan again. Should clump them up for area attacks again. Note that if you’re doing these things with a companion, you’ll need them on passive so they don’t ruin your plans. You can re-activate them once the enemies have clumped to your desired doneness.

Skip #3 – Scavenging Tunnel Cave

Here is an actual skip! If any member of your group has 75 Scavenging, you can manipulate a mining drill and go straight to the first boss. Typically, people using Hammer Station to level or grind something specific will have this. So you’ll usually take this skip more often than the regular route.

Skip #4

Another skip that actually passes by enemies – LOTS of players will do this. At the intersection, walk right until you get to the two small crates. Use the crates across the way as your guide and walk straight to them to cross safely without pulling any enemies. Once on the other end and past the stack of three boxes, you can run to the doorway and continue.

Skip #5 –  With at least one Stealther

Normally we don’t cover skips that require sleep darts or mind mazes from the stealth-classes, but Hammer Station so frequently has players ready to use them along with scavenging and slicing for the shortcuts. So, if you have a stealther, wait for them to sleep the guy on the right, and then use the door behind him to skip all three enemies.

Skip #6 – Line-of-sight (LOS)

This is another common Line of Sight spot. Here is the pull.

Here’s your hiding spot back in the hallway! If you aren’t the one shooting the mobs to get them to chase, you can sit here and wait early.

Skip #7 – Slicing Elevator

Right after the LoS pull, there’s an elevator to the left. Turning it on and using it to skip the next few packs of enemies requires a slicing skill of 80, but again, if you’re in a group with a seasoned Hammer Station Spammer, they’ll typically have this for you; so hang back and stand by the elevator real quick in case someone does have the skill.

Skip #8

Another teensy but common skip – just make sure you stick to the wall behind the sandbags here and the boarder suppression droid shouldn’t attack anyone running by.

Skip #9

The Security Laser Cannons in Hammer Station are Champion-level enemies and are notorious for having roughly as much HP as the bosses themselves. You save a surprising amount of time skipping them – so just before the second boss fight, hop up the short wall here instead of using the stairs to avoid them.

Skip #10 – Line of Site Three Bosses

I don’t really see anyone out in the wild do this, but if I’m alone or with a coordinated group, I like to Line of Sight the 2nd boss too, as it’s 3 spread out enemies. Torch and the Sawbones have much less HP than Vorgan does, but I find it still goes a little faster if they’re grouped up.

Skip #11 – With at least one Stealther

Another common sleep-dart spot, though trickier than the first. I find unless you have two stealthers darting both guards, usually this gets pulled anyways.

Old Skip – Turrets – No Longer Available

This is the site of a really common skip from previous iterations of the game, but no longer works.  What players commonly did back in the day was skip both lasers by running past them and onto the holo-bridge. As you crossed the bridge and fought your way to the last boss, the lasers would lose sight of you and although you’d remain in combat for the rest of the flashpoint, you’d have saved a ton of time. This is no longer allowed, and a red barrier has been erected before the bridge until both lasers are destroyed. :(

Rewards

In addition to the usual rewards of XP, credits, gear and end-game currency, Hammer Station has the following rewards available.

The Mine Cart (Asteroid Rocks) drops from Hammer Station. I am unsure if this drops in any mode, but the player who reported it said they got it in Master Mode from Battlelord Kreshan. It can also be bought and sold on the GTN.
