SWTOR Dantooine Biome Dynamic Encounters Guide

Dantooine Biomes are a set of Dynamic Encounters quests in the Crashed Ship Zone area of Dantooine. This area is designed for level 80 characters, and is a set of explorational quests exploring the three unique biomes each with their own hazardous and repeatable encounters. This area also has its own Reputation track and set of rewards and achievements.

Bug Fixed: If you were having trouble getting the questgivers to talk to you, it should be fixed now! Particularly the Glacial Researcher NPC.

How to Start

Requirements: The main quest and the biomes are designed for level 80. The Dynamic Encounters in the biomes can technically be done at any level, and so can the main quest, but the enemies are level 80 and will kill you quickly if you are lower level.

To start the Dantooine Biome quests, you do not need to speak to any quest giver – you just need to fly to the Dantooine Crash Site landing point of Dantooine. Don’t land on the normal part of Dantooine, or you won’t be able to find the biome quests and there’s no shuttle to the biomes from there. Once you land, walk forwards into the camp, and you’ll automatically get the quest Wreckage on Dantooine, which is the main quest line for the area. This is a long quest that leads you around the area and teaches you about how it works, and if you want to enter the final boss area, you’ll need to have progressed past all three biomes in this quest.

This quest has a lot of steps, and if you need any help, I’ve made a step by step guide! Wreckage on Dantooine Quest Guide

THE INTRODCUTORY QUEST WILL TEACH YOU MOST OF WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BIOMES!

Wreckage on Dantooine Quest Guide

How do the Biomes Work?

When you fly to the Dantooine Wreckage Site section of the planet Dantooine, you’ll see a special tracker on the top right. This tracker shows the state of the different Biomes.

There are three biomes, that roughly make up different parts of the Dantooine Crashed Ship Zone map.

Sporefall Biome – The Sporefall Biome is in the top left of the map in the north west,

Glacial Biome – The Glacial Biome is in the bottom left of the map in the south west,

Geothermal Biome – And the Geothermal Biome is on the bottom right of the map in the south east.

Each Biome has a different hazard – in the Glacial Biome, you’ll need to keep moving to stay warm, in the Geothermal Biome you’ll need to avoid the toxic water and lava, and in the Sporefall biome you’ll be slowed down over time.

As you complete Dynamic Encounters in each area, either alone or in a group, you’ll help the overall map progress, together with everyone else who is also playing on the map. Each Dynamic Encounter you complete in an area will raise its percentage bar about 4%, and everyone on the map has a general goal of getting each biome up to 100%.

When a biome reaches 100%, it will “flip”, and enter a transition phase, which unlocks a special Transition Dynamic Encounter that is only available during that transition. Then the biome will level up. The biomes can level up form level 1 ot 2, then 2 to 3. Each phase in each biome also has unique encounters – some are only available during certain phases. After rank 3 reaches 100%, instead of flipping to phase 4, it will instead stop progressing and will wait for the other biomes to catch up.

When all three biomes reach rank 3 at 100%, the core becomes aligned, and a special 4-person difficult boss fight is unlocked for the next two hours! There will still be Dynamic Encounters around the rest of the map, but none of the biomes will level up or transition during this special time window. After the core alignment timer runs out of time, all the biomes will reset to zero, allowing everyone to start at the beginning again.

Each instance of the map is also separate – so the PvE Instance may be aligned, and the PvP instance may be only at the first biome levels – so you can switch around depending on your goals for the day.

Dynamic Encounters

The Dynamic Encounters are spread out across the entire map, and some only appears during certain stages of the different biomes. Dantooine Dynamic Encounters List and Guide

Crossovers

Unsure if these actually exist on live…

[Master 4] Orbital Core

The [MASTER 4] Orbital Core quest is a very difficult 4-person instanced quest that is only available when the cores are aligned in the Crashed Ship Biomes area of Dantooine, a high-level Dynamic Encounter area. Orbital Core Quest Guide

You will need a total of four players who are also on or past the Wreckage on Dantooine quest at step [Master 4] Orbital Core – players who have not finished the earlier quests can not even enter the core area. This quest is too difficult to do with companions or low level players, and may be too hard for the average player to complete.

The biomes must also be Core Aligned – this happens when all three biomes reach rank 3 at 100%, unlocking the core for the next two hours. If the core is not aligned, you’ll need to help push the biome maps towards completion before you can enter the core.

Reputation

Reputation is a way of gaining favor with different groups by completing quests for them. As you level up your reputation rank, more rewards for that reputation track become available.

You can run as many Dynamic Encounters as you want to in the biomes, but you will still be gated by how many reputation points you can earn – you can only earn a hard limit of 3,500 Sustainability reputation points in a week. This time-gating mechanism means you’ll not even be able to reach the first rank of Outsider the first week you play on this map. You’ll reach that cap by completing about 50 of any of the Dynamic Encounters in the area, in any biome, without any boosts, or 28 with the  subscriber and guild boost. If you earn over 3,500 reputation points in a week, then keep doing biomes dynamic encounters, instead of getting more reputation points, you’ll get reputation items which can be consumed from your inventory in future weeks, so if you get any of these items, just hold on to them until the weekly timer resets.

You get blue reputation items the dynamic encounters in the biomes. By default, they say they give you 35 reputation points. However, even without using a boost, I got around 151 Reputation per Dynamic Encounter! The item is called a Dynamic Encounter Codex, and there does not seem to be any other Reputation items for this area.

You can see your reputation by pressing “Y” on your keyboard or hover over the symbol of a person on the menu. You can hover over the Galactic Sustainability Institute name in the list to see how close you are to the next rank, and how many reputation points you have left remaining that you can earn during this week.

  • None – 0 Reputation
  • Outsider – 0/2,500 Reputation (2,500 total points needed)
  • Newcomer – 0/5,000 Reputation (7,500 total points needed)
  • Friend – 0/7,500 Reputation (15,000 total points needed) (untested)
  • Hero – 0/10,000  Reputation (25,000 total points needed) (untested)
  • Champion – 0/15,000 Reputation (40,000 total points needed) (untested)
  • Legend – 0/30,000 Reputation (70,000 total points needed) (untested)

You will likely need 70,000 total reputation points to reach Legend rank on Dantooine Biomes. During the first week, you will only be able to reach Outsider, as the max is 3,500 per week. Without using any reputation boosts, but with the full guild and subscriber bonus, you would need to run around 466 Dynamic Encounters on Dantooine spreadout amongst the weeks to reach Legend rank and unlock the entire Dantooine stronghold. (Untested)

Reputation Boosts: There are three ways to gain a bonus to reputation to make things faster – subscribing gives you a 50% reputation bonus, being in a guild can give you up to a 15% bonus, and lastly, you will occasionally get an item you can use to temporarily boost your reputation. This is called the Complimentary Major Reputation Boost and usually comes from the Daily Login rewards calendar, and is legacy-bound so you can apply it to any of your characters. It works by giving you a buff called Major Reputation Boost, which adds 15 charges of Reputation Boost for 24 hours, and each reputation trophy you use will consume 1 charge and give you increases the points you earn from reputation trophies by 50%. So in short, it lasts 24 hours, and the first 15 tokens you earn / consume on that character will be worth more so you can rank up faster. I will note though that I didn’t feel I needed to use my reputation boost to reach my limit while running around doing encounters.

Whether through war, overconsumption, political unrest, or unexpected disaster, various worlds across the galaxy stand to lose their most important—and most valuable—natural resources at any moment. That’s where the Galactic Sustainability Institute (a subsidiary of Galactic Solution Industries’ “environmental advocacy division”) comes in.

Reputation Vendor

The Reputation vendor has these items in addition to the Stronghold keys. These items are temporary and permanent unlocks to some conveniences in the Biomes area, and some other mysterious items. The Reputation Vendor is located in the base camp – if you get lost, the easiest way to get to base camp is to Quicktravel to the center of the map, and then run north east (up and to the right).

Rewards

“We wouldn’t ask players to help the people of Dantooine without getting some sweet rewards along the way. For their efforts, players will progress along a new reputation track. And there’ll be plenty of rewards to earn, including new achievements, mounts, minipets, armor sets, decorations, and more.”

Doctor Vendors

During certain times, vendors pop up with reputation-based items to buy. I am unsure if they are working as intended or what the rules are. They could be tied to the zones being in different states, completing certain encounters, or triggering other secrets in the area. Their position and existence is instance-wide, not per-person.

Doctor Maniks Vendor

During certain times, Doctor Maniks seems to leave her normal post in the Glacial area and wander over to the Sporefall camp. When she does, she becomes a vendor that sells four different items.

  • DO-NK Escort Droid: 2,500,000 Credits – Requires Champion Rank (Pet)
  • GDW-DO Repair Platform: 5,000,000 Credits – Requires Hero Rank (Mount with Rock)
  • Purifying Station: 500,000 Credits – Requires Outsider Rank (Decoration)
  • Sporefall Shaclaw: 1,000,000 Credits – Requires Newcomer Rank (Pet)

Another player said she was up on Instance 5, with a Stage 1 Sporefall. I could not see her on Instance 7, which was at Stage 2 Sporefall. When I transferred instances, she was there! However, when that instance’s Sporefall transitioned from 1 to 2, she seemed to still be there. So it was tied to something to do with the instance – but I’m not sure what. Later, I went back to 7 and could not find her, even though it had transitioned back to Stage 1. I tried to switch instances, but something was broken. I logged out and when I logged back in, it put me on 5, with Maniks there.

Doctor Sannar Vendor

During certain times, Doctor Maniks seems to leave her normal post in the Glacial area and wander over to the Sporefall camp. When she does, she becomes a vendor that sells four different items.

  • GDW-HO Repair Platform: 5,000,000 Credits – Requires Hero Rank (Mount)
  • HO-NK Escort Droid: 2,500,000 Credits – Requires Champion Rank (Pet)
  • Sample: 3M1-L3: 750,000 Credits – Requires Outsider Rank (Decoration)
  • Thermite Yaracat: 1,000,000 Credits – Requires Newcomer Rank (Pet)

Later on I found Doctor Sanner selling different items while standing in a different location!?!?!?! They were the same as Doctor Maniks above.

  • DO-NK Escort Droid: 2,500,000 Credits – Requires Champion Rank (Pet)
  • GDW-DO Repair Platform: 5,000,000 Credits – Requires Hero Rank (Mount with Rock)
  • Purifying Station: 500,000 Credits – Requires Outsider Rank (Decoration)
  • Sporefall Shaclaw: 1,000,000 Credits – Requires Newcomer Rank (Pet)

Much like Doctor Maniks above, I can’t figure out what triggered Doctor Sanner to show up in the Geothermal camp as a vendor.

Doctor Losoo + Doctor Olobus Vendors

I also found BOTH of these vendors a different time at the glacial camp selling three items instead of four.

  • GDW-L0 Repair Platform: 5,000,000 Credits – Requires Hero Reputation Rank (Mount)
  • Glacial Nerf Calf 1,000,000 Credits – Requires Newcomer Reputation Rank (Pet)
  • LO-NK Escort Droid 2,500,000 Credits – Requires Champion Reputation Rank (Pet)

Much like the other two doctors above, I don’t know what made these vendors show up.

Doctor Lamuna + Doctor Olobus Vendors

I also found BOTH of THESE vendors a different time at the glacial camp selling these three items instead of four.

Armors

Skirmishing Surveyor Armor Set

The Skirmishing Surveyor set seems to drop randomly as pieces from enemies in the Dantooine Biome areas. It does not seem to drop from a specific enemy or area. The entire set can be bought and sold on the GTN but it does require Newcomer Rank to actually put on and wear.

  • Fitted Belt of the Skirmishing Surveyor
  • Fitted Boots of the Skirmishing Surveyor
