SWTOR Server connectivity issues (ongoing)

If you are unable to log in today, on all or one server, or are playing and are kicked out, this is why. This has been happening intermittently the last few days with the servers going up and down.

With the forums restored, I wanted to consolidate comms in a single thread. Due to the forums being down yesterday, I posted on Reddit to inform players that we were/are experiencing intermittent DDoS attacks which is what is causing the server connectivity issues. We are actively working on implementing a solution for this, so check back here for updates.

A DDoS attack is when the attacker sends hundreds of computers to visit a website or server with malicious attempts to access it, flooding it with so many visits that is can no longer work. In this case, it’s a bit unclear whether the DDOS attacks are specifically against SWTOR or simply against Amazon Cloud Services, where the SWTOR servers are hosted.

Hi everyone, Just to confirm, the major outages we’ve seen this week have all been due to DDoS attacks on our servers (with one currently happening). We’ve already put some mitigations in place, and are actively working with our partners to provide further mitigations from future attacks. Again, thank you for your patience as we navigate through all of this. We will continue to monitor the servers and keep you posted with updates as necessary.
