Companion Return Terminal Moved to the Companions & Contact Window

News Date: June 2, 2026 Patch: 7.9 News Source

At a certain point in the later expansions, your companions will leave you temporarily. They all eventually return, in some form or another, but their quests or return points can sometimes take a very long time to get to in the story from the point that you lose them. To help players get their companion back quicker, or at least get them before they return in the story, the developers had created the Companion Locator Terminal (sometimes called the Companion Return Terminal by players) which would allow you to re-summon your missing companions so you could use them for combat or crafting, even if they hadn’t returned in the story yet – or if you had made choices that made it impossible for them to return in the future. This terminal was tucked away in a little room on the Odessan base, which you could only access after finishing Chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire, and was not very intuitive to use.

Companions & Contact Window

An improved solution to the Companion Locator Terminal has been added in 7.9. The functionality of the terminal has been added to the Companions & Contact window (press N on your keyboard) under a new section at the very bottom of the list  called “Ineligible for Story”. This section includes any companion removed through story progression (KOTFE) or through choices (killed/exiled).

You can click on the Companion’s name to see why they are no longer with you in the story in the Interactions section.

Or you can summon them to fight or craft using the arrow summon button.

Only companions that are not currently available through an Alert will show up in the Ineligible for Story section – so scroll up to the top and look at your unfinished alerts to see if any Companion Alerts are available there that will instead lead you to your companion.

On my level 65 Jedi Consular, I can see Lieutenant Felix Iresso summonable on the Ineligible for Story section, because I have not completed the Ossus storyline, which would unlock his Alliance Alert.

On my level 80 Jedi Consular, I did Felix’s Alliance Alert, so he just shows up like normal as a summonable companion.

On my evil Jedi Consular, when I ran into Tharan Cedrax in the story, I turned him away from the Alliance, so he got moved down into the Inelegible for Story section.
