The Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event is a limited time event in Star Wars: The Old Republic where you can head to Nar Shaddaa and gamble your credits away for a chance to win some unique prizes during this once-yearly event set in the summer.
LIMITED TIME EVENT: This year’s event is live! It’s running July 8 – August 18, 2025. If you’ve played the event before, you can see all the new rewards and changes in the New Stuff for 2025 Guide!
BUG FIXED: There was a nasty bug at the very beginning of the event that caused some players’ tokens to reset to zero. This was fixed by a patch on the same day in the afternoon.
Some of the great additions for this year include:
- 10 new item rewards!
- All Casino Chips /tokens are now Legacy-wide currency (not split between characters!)
- Drop Rates for Emperor’s Casino Chip has been increased in Master Flashpoints, Veteran Operations, and Master Operations!
- You can not lose on Emperor’s Grace and Emperor’s Grace Max Bet Machines.
- Lucky and Good Karma buffs now last ten minutes – no rushing needed!
- New achievements

How Does the Event Work?
The event itself is very simple, and involves spending credits on slot machine tokens, just like at a real casino. The difference is that most players spend credits hoping to win cosmetic prizes, rather than to win more credits.

A majority of the prizes from the event can not be bought or sold to other players – they can only be won in the casino. Some of the prizes are bound to your character, and others are legacy-bound and can be transferred between your characters. The chance of winning a prize is very low, and many players sink millions of credits into the machines hoping to win. Some people get lucky and win on the first try, and other may never win anything even after spending 50 million credits. Winning is truly up to chance.
To preview all the prizes and their costs, head to the back of the casino. Some prizes can only be won by luck on specific machines, while others can be bought with Golden Certificates which are also won from the machines.
How to Start
If you want an introduction to the event, you can interact with the floating terminal in the center ring of the republic or imperial fleet which will give you some free gambling chips and send you towards the event on Nar Shaddaa. This introductory quest can be started at level 15 or higher.

The casino where the event takes place is located roughly in the middle of Nar Shaddaa’s map, in the Star Cluster Casino on the republic side and the Club Vertical club imperial side. Any character that has earned their ship and can travel to Nar Shaddaa can participate in this event.
Quests
You don’t technically need to do the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife quest to participate in the event – but it gives you some free tokens to spend. After you start the quest from the glowing blue floating terminal on the Fleet, and fly to Nar Shaddaa, there will be a series of quests at the casino that you can complete, including an overarching quest from an open crate in the casino.

The overall quest, called Dubious Odds, is once per character, but has a great reward, and the other smaller quests can be done once per day per character, as part of a repeatable quest chain starting in the casino.
See the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife Event Quest Guide if you need help!
How to Play
Once you get to the Casino you’ll see a bunch of players playing with the slot machines. There are three main types of slot machines – Smuggler’s Luck, Kingpin’s Bounty and Emperor’s Grace.
Tokens

The casino chips to play these slot machines can either be bought directly from a vendor, or dropped from enemies while playing.
Tokens are legacy-wide and shared across all of your characters on your server, and you can see how many you have on your character by opening your inventory then clicking the Currency tab.

Buying tokens: Tokens can be bought from the droid in a tuxedo named Casino Cashier, and a decent amount are also dropped from enemies out in the open world. If you are buying tokens from the vendor, you can easily buy them in bulk by holding SHIFT, right clicking the tokens and dragging them into your inventory. You’ll then be able to use the slider to specify exactly how many chips you want to buy.
Emperor’s Casino Chip: 7.5 Million Credits
Kingpin’s Casino Chip: 100,000 Credits
Smuggler’s Casino Chip: 5,0000 Credits
Free Tokens: If you are looking to get tokens for free, they also drop from enemies while playing:
- If you are a pure solo player, any enemies have a chance of dropping tokens. Players suggest killing whatever low=-level enemies you can find on Tython, Ord Mantell, Hutta or Korriban, but this methiod seems to have some type of limit in place, so eventually you’ll stop getting rewards or token drops.
- The most common method of getting tokens is to run Veteran Mode flashpoints, as each boss in a Flashpoint has a good chance of dropping tokens, including the rare and expensive Emperor’s Token. You’ll also see tokens drop from Story Mode Operation Bosses too.
- This year, in 2025, drop Rates for Emperor’s Casino Chips have been increased in Master Flashpoints, Veteran Operations, and Master Operations!
Smuggler’s Luck Machine

The first type of slot machine is the Smuggler’s luck, it’s the more common green one in the casino. It has a much lower chance of winning anything, but the tokens to play it cost a lot less, and it can be a way to win prizes on the cheap. To play it, buy a Smuggler’s casino chip and right click a the machine. Playing the slot machines doesn’t require an skill – whether you win or not is simply up to luck.

When you put a token into the smuggler luck machine, you have a chance of having one of these outcomes :
- losing and getting nothing
- a high chance of winning Smuggler’s tokens back
- a low chance of winning Kingpin chips
- the machine explodes and grants you an achievement called Quality Assurance
- or a very very low chance of winning a Golden Certificate, which is the best outcome and can be turned in for prizes
- an unknown chance of winning Max Bet Smuggler’s Luck Chip (new for 2025)
The Smuggler’s luck slot machines also have a chance of giving you a special buff called ‘Feeling Lucky’ which lasts for ten minutes and increases your chance of winning while playing the expensive slot machines.

If you want to speed up the process, you can play multiple machines at once!
Kingpin’s Bounty Slot Machine

The Kingpin’s bounty slot machines are a lot more expensive to play, but give you the ability to win actual prizes.

When you play the Kingpin machine, you have a similar chance to the cheaper machines of simply losing or winning your tokens back. However, you also have a slightly higher chance of winning golden certificates, and an incredibly low chance of winning a very rare exclusive prize that can’t be bought from the vendor or won from the normal Smuggler’s machines. You can also win an Emperor’s Casino Chip (see below).
- losing and getting nothing
- a high chance of winning Kingpin’s tokens back
- a small chance of winning a Golden Certificate
- a low chance of winning a Cartel Certificate
- the machine explodes and grants you an achievement called Quality Assurance
- an unknown chance of winning a Max Bet Kingpin’s Bounty Chip (new for 2025)
If you get lucky and win an actual prize from the Kingpin’s machine, you’ll win:
- Mercenary Contract (Phrojo Nurray companion)
- Vector BWL Wraith
- Emperor’s Grace Casino Chip
- Kingpin’s Predator (very small chance?)
- Kingpin’s Rancor (small chance)
The Kingpin’s Bounty machines also have a chance of giving you a special buff called ‘Good Karma’ which lasts for ten minutes and increases your chance of winning while playing the expensive Kingpin’s Bounty slots or Emperor’s Grace slot machines.

The Emperor’s Slot Machine is the jackpot machine and looks like a statue of a golden Hutt.

Max Bet Machines, Max Bet tokens, and VIP Area

If you head to the VIP area up the elevator in the center of the Fleet, you’ll have access to three new types of machines called “Max Bet” machines. If you are unable to enter the elevator, you will first need to buy the wristband from the droid vendor in the cantina nearby for 1,000,000 credits.
The Max Bet tokens are very expensive. They apparently have a better chance of winning, but cost 20 times the amount normal tokens. They still give you only a single spin of one of the Max Bet machines, and there’s a Max Bet machine for each type of normal machine.
One great use of the Max Bet tokens is to turn in any piles of Smuggler’s or Kingpin’s chips you have into Max Bet one (rather than buying them with credits) which will reduce your clicks in the Casino by a factor of 20.
In previous years, there were no rewards exclusive to the max bet machines. This year, in 2025, there is four rewards only available on the max bet machines.
Here is what you can win from the max bet machines (Updated 2025):
Smuggler’s Luck Max Bet

- Kingpin’s Bounty Chip
- Max Bet Kingpin’s Bounty Chip
- Golden Certificate
- Smuggler’s Trained Vine Cat (ONLY won from the Smuggler’s Luck Max Bet)

Emperor’s Grace Max Bet
Just like the normal Emperor’s Grace slot machine, the Emperor’s Grace Max Bet machine cannot lose, but if you have one or both of the buffs, it increases the chance of a Jackpot win (any non-certificate drop).
When does it make sense to buy Emperor’s Grace Max Bet tokens? The Emperor’s Grace Max Bet tokens cost 150 million credits each, or will use up 20 of your normal Emperor’s Grace tokens – they’re very expensive! These fancy max bet machines do not have unique prizes, and most of the time they still reward you with golden certificates, which you can easily get from the less expensive machine for one twentieth of the cost. The general rule of thumb with the max bet machines is they are for players with more credits than sense – but it really only makes sense if your goal is to get prizes as quickly as possible, if you have an excess of 8-16 billion credits spread across multiple characters (about 50-100 spins) that you don’t mind dumping into the event. Even if you consider yourself rich and have a couple billion credits, it makes more sense to instead use the normal Emperor’s Grace machines. The other two types of max bet machines are a bit different though – they have different odds, they offer unique prizes, and they are a lot less expensive to play.
Here is what can drop in terms of unique prizes if you get lucky from the Emperor’s Grace Slot Machine OR the Max Bet version of it:
- Emperor’s Mawvorr
- Iridescent Varactyl
- Supernova Helmet
- High Stakes Squadron Helmet
- High Roller Sunglasses
- High Roller Skiff (mount)
- Lucky Pritarr (mount)
- Vectron Magnus (mount)
- High Roller Shades (armor)
- Replica C1-4W (pet)
- Proud Pritarr Cub (pet)
- Fiery Grefna Chick (pet)
- Shimmering Ginx (pet)
- Phrojo Nuray (companion)
These can also drop, but they are not exclusive to the Emperor’s Machine:
- Vector BWL Wraith (mount) * Can also be won from the Kingpin’s Bounty machine.
- High Roller Armor Set Box * Also available on the vendor for Golden Certificates and GTN
- High Roller Cannon (weapon) * Also available on GTN sometimes
- High Roller Blaster Pistol (weapon) * Also available on GTN sometimes
- High Roller Blaster Rifle (weapon) * Also available on GTN sometimes
- High Roller Lightsaber (weapon) * Also available on GTN sometimes
- High Roller Lightstaff (weapon) * Also available on GTN sometimes
- High Roller Sniper Rifle (weapon) * Also available on GTN sometimes

Strategy / Meta
- Like previous years, the BEST way to get tokens, including the expensive ones, is by playing content in the game. The most commonly run content that player play for tokens is Operations, and Veteran Mode flashpoints, as each boss in an Operation / Flashpoint has a good chance of dropping tokens, including the rare and expensive Emperor’s Token.
You can get the Good Karma buff from the purple Kingpin’s Bounty machines, it gives you an improved chance of winning at the Kingpin’s Bounty slots (purple ones) or Emperor’s Grace slots (Hutt one). It lasts ten (10) minutes, or until a Kingpin’s Bounty win, or until an Emperor’s Grace win. So you want to watch for it, and if you get it, you likely don’t want to waste it on the Kingpin’s purple slot machines. Note that a “win” may include lesser prizes you don’t want, BUT, it will not disappear if you win a Golden Certificate!
You can get the Feeling Lucky buff from the green Smuggler’s Luck machines, it gives you an improved chance of winning at the Kingpin’s Bounty slots (purple ones) or Emperor’s Grace slots (Hutt one). It lasts ten (10) minutes, or until a Kingpin’s Bounty win, or until an Emperor’s Grace win. So you want to watch for it, and if you get it, you likely don’t want to waste it on the Kingpin’s purple slot machines. Note that a “win” may include lesser prizes you don’t want, BUT, it will not disappear if you win a Golden Certificate!- STRATEGY:
+
Lucky and Good Karma can stack on Emperor’s Grace Slot Machines to increase the chance of winning all the way to 100%. So if you get both buffs, then you can spin the Emperor’s Grace without losing until you win a prize better than a Golden Certificate, and you’ll likely win a bunch of Golden Certificates as you spin with both buffs until then! - If you do not have a lot of money or a lot of Emperor’s Grace tokens (and don’t want to play content like Operations or Flashpoints to get them to drop), you can get the best chance of winning something by first playing the play the green Smuggler’s Luck machines until you hopefully get the Feeling Lucky buff (lasts 2 minutes), the play the purple Kingpin’s Bounty machines until you eventually get the Good Karma Buff (lasts ten minutes), so you have both, then go quickly use your Emperor’s Grace tokens for a 100% chance of eventually winning something, rather than just winning your tokens back or golden certificates.

Careful Gambling
While playing, keep in mind that gambling can be very addictive. This event is meant to be a fun way to spend some credits and pretend you are part of the Nar Shaddaa nightlife scene – but it has a lot of the same attributes as a real-life casino. Make sure to set goals about how many credits you want to spend, and don’t go beyond that. Same thing goes for time – if you find yourself in the casino for more than a couple hours, you might need a break! If you have to dip into your real-life money to buy cartel coins to sell to buy more gambling tokens, it also might be time for you to take a break. Although a lot of the prizes you can win from the slot machines are very cool, a majority of them can be found as different versions in other parts of the game, and will likely return the next time the event rolls by, so don’t stress too much about getting them. Unlike winning big in real life, winning big in the Nar Shadda casino’s won’t be a life-changing event.
You also have to remember that although math can give us an idea about the odds and potential credits you could spend to win a certain prize, it can’t guarantee us actually beating the odds. In my case, I spent about 30 million credits and 2 hours while making this guide and I won some great prizes… but I didn’t win the rarest prize possible, and I might not win it even if I decide to sink in another 30 million!
I hope you enjoy your stay on Nar Shaddaa during the Nightlife Event is enjoyable and prosperous, but remember, the house always wins!
Nightlife Event Rewards
There are many rewards available from the SWTOR Nightlife casino event. A majority of them can be bought with Golden Certificates, which can be won from the slot machines. You can spend your Golden Certificates in the back of the main casino on Nar Shaddaa, there are three vendors side by side and the rewards are scattered between them. These vendors seem to stick around even after the event, so you don’t need to spend your certificates until you are ready to.
