Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for your feedback around the Mac launcher technical test. We wanted to let you all know that the open beta for the launcher is now live! This will be available to anyone who would like to check out SWTOR on their Mac machines provided that they meet the minimum requirements.

System requirements:

  • M-Series Chipset Mac: M1, M2, etc…
  • Latest MacOS Sonoma or higher, 14.*, 15.* – Any other MacOS version will not work during this test.
  • This will not work on Intel Macs (PRE 2020).

Important notes:

  • While this is a technical test, the launcher will be using a live server.
  • Progress you make on your character will be saved permanently.
  • Any credit or Cartel Coin purchases you make will be permanent.
  • Any characters you create or delete will be permanent.
  • Storage can require up to 60GB.
  • Be sure to use a mouse that has both a left and right click available.
  • EN/DE/FR languages are supported.

We will be using these forums primarily for Mac Launcher Open Beta Test communications and feedback. This space will be available for both Subscribers and Preferred players.

The version available to test is SWTOR_Mac-2.0.

To get started:

  • Head on over to the main page on swtor.com and click on the Download Game Installer button on the right. That will open up a module for both the PC and Mac launcher downloads.
  • Follow the installation instructions
  • After a successful installation, the SWTOR app should pop up in Applications
  • You can also use spotlight search and type in STAR WARS to find the app as well
  • After selecting the app, the launcher should open and you should be able to log into the game as normal

Please also be sure to read the known issues list below:

  • It is possible that other game installers will block the SWTOR Mac Launcher from working.
    • Workaround: Uninstalling the other installers will fix this issue.
      • One way to notice if this issue is affecting you, is to have a successful installation and not seeing the launcher in Applications
    • We are actively investigating a fix for this issue.
  • After the first install, you may see the resolution reduced on the upper left corner. If that’s the case, pressing Cmd + Enter should restore it.
  • Performance may not be optimal with certain configurations with higher resolutions. We encourage you to try different configurations to determine what works best for your experience.
  • The game client will be installed on the main drive, specifically on ~/Library/Application\ Support/com.broadsword.swtor/Star Wars – The Old Republic/game even if you choose another location.
    • Allowing game client installations on a different drive is still work in progress.

As we continue to make progress to improve the emulation layer, updates will be rolled out automatically through the launcher. There will be no need to download the launcher after initial install.

What do we want you to test?

Essentially, what we want to know is can you even boot up and play the game. Some questions that you can help answer are below:

  • Can you log into the game?
  • Are there any issues from login to jumping into the game?
  • How does the gameplay feel?
  • Overall performance?

Please use this thread to report any bugs on the functionality and experience of using the Mac launcher to boot up the game.

Bug reports must include the following info:

  • What machine are you using?
  • How much memory (RAM) does your machine have?
  • How many monitors are you using?

Thanks everyone!
