From the surface of the planet, the sight of the yards arcing across the sky brings the Kuati people a constant sense of duty and purpose by day; and of awe and comfort by night. Losing Kuat Drive Yards would not only send the planet’s economy into a tailspin, but would also greatly hamper the Republic’s ability to keep its member planets safe.

How to Start

Chronological Start: As part of the Galactic Starfighter update, Kuat Drive Yards takes place just after the Dread War on Oricon, a few patches after Rise of the Hutt Cartel, but before Fractured Alliances kicks off with the Assault on Tython/Korriban Incursion storylines leading up to Shadow of Revan. Story Order Guide

Early on Other Characters: You can run KDY even if you are not caught up on the story, as long as you are the correct level for it – 55+.

Note: a lower level may get the error below: “This Flashpoint May Only Be Accessed Via Group Finder Until You’ve Reached Level 55”. At the time, Kuat Drive Yards was added to the group finder’s random rotation of flashpoints you could randomly get by queueing up from levels 15-54, but due to it’s unique nature, KDY was later removed from the Group Finder and cannot currently be accessed by the tool. All characters must be 55 or higher to play KDY, and they must physically travel there via the fleet.

How to Get There: You can head to Kuat Drive Yards by one way only – physically walking to the entrance and picking up the mission on fleet. Once there, select “Starfighter Launch Deck“, Kuat Drive Yards was released alongside Galactic Starfighter, so this fact may help you remember which floor it’s on.

Scenarios

The Drive Yards are unique in the way that each time you run the flashpoint, it will be a little different. It is set up this way by splitting the objectives you’ll have to do into two different areas, or “scenarios”. Each run includes two scenarios out of a possible five, and then one of three possible final bosses. You can look below for which scenario you have gotten into by matching the name with what your map says in-game. Some are certainly trickier than others and may benefit from using the guide!

Kuat Scenario – Hangar Bay

Step #1 – Defend the Bay

Your first step into the Hangar Bay scenario will call for eliminating enemy boarders. As you walk in a ship will hover in and drop off a load of troops who will spread out on the base floor of the bay. Take these out to continue and get the next objective.

Step #2 – Bonus Crates

Along the way you’ll see these breakable boxes. It’s purely for the bonus objective, and although we have them mapped out above, you do not need to do it if you’re aiming for speed over thoroughness. Keep in mind that when going for the Saboteur Bonus, you need 20 boxes. This scenario only contains 11 boxes, so this is one you’ll work on throughout the run, not just in the Hangar Bay area.

Step #3 – East Bay

After the first group of 8 enemies in the main bay, you’ll be called to defend the East Bay. The doors to it will open at the same time – we’ve marked the bay doors on the map above, too. Inside will be another slightly tougher group to tangle with along with 2 more crates for the bonus.

Step #4 – West Bay

Once you’ve cleared the East, you’ll get the same call for the West Bay and it’ll open up too. It’s the exact same fight just across the Hangar – after this you’ll need to turn back and defend the main bay one more time as well.

Step #5 – Hangar Controls

Once you’ve defended the Bay, you need to head up. The stairs to get to the top of the map are located at the south corners of the main room, and you get two options. We’ve marked them on the map above. Keep in mind that although there’s lots of bonus objective crates and the Elite Defender on the 2nd floor, you need to go to the 3rd for the controls.

Step #6 – Elite Defender (Load Lifter BN-55 / AX-871)

On your way up, the 2nd floor catwalk on the West side will have the Elite Defender for those working on the bonus objectives. Load Lifter BN-55 doesn’t really have much going for it except a missile barrage attack that can be interrupted. He doesn’t do much damage and just takes awhile to defeat. AX-871 meanwhile will slow you and then drop red danger zones under your feet to move out of. Elite Defenders will drop an additional reputation token for those still getting Kuat reputation, and which one you fight will typically change with weekly reset.

They also have a chance of dropping a KDY Construction Kit.

Step #7 – Strike Team

Once you’ve made it to the third floor to hit the Hangar Controls, you’ll face an ambush from the enemy Strike Team. They DO have push attacks, so be very careful about where your back is pointed. You can be knocked down to the ground floor. You’ll probably survive the fall if you are full HP when it happens, but then still in combat and they’ll start running down to you. Fighting them on the stairs and ramps isn’t recommended as it can get really glitchy really fast. Remember to secure the bay with the controls at the top once you win.

Step #8 – Escape!

After the objective updates you’re good to head to the next scenario or boss, whichever comes next for you! The exit to the next area in the Hangar Bay scenario is on the second floor, pictured below me in the image above.

Kuat Scenario – Cannon Emplacements

Step #1 – Forcefield

When beginning the Kuat Scenario about Cannons, you’ll first see this big red forcefield guarded by a few enemies. To disable it, you’ll have to travel down both side paths to find the generators keeping it going.

This scenario only contains 11 boxes, so this is one you’ll work on throughout the run, not just in the cannon emplacement area.

Step #3 – Generators

Here in these big laser rooms, you can head down the ramps on either end and fight your way to the interactable consoles at the bottom. Do this in both wings and the forcefield in step 1 will be gone.

Step #4 – Elite Defender (Load Lifter BN-55 / AX-871)

After the field goes down, the eastern path on the map will have the Elite Defender for those working on the bonus objectives. (The cannon emplacements Elite Defender is also sometimes found in the middle cannon control bay in the very south instead of the east hallway.)

They also have a chance of dropping a KDY Construction Kit.

Step #4 – Find the Weapons

At the southern half of the scenario, you’ll need to “Find a Way to Disable the Cannons”. These weapons stockpiles pictured above will be the next thing to fight your way over to. They will equip you with EMP grenades needed to open up the controls. On our map above, they’re denoted by the orange gear symbol.

Step #5 – Sabotage the Controls

Once you’ve got the EMPs (you just have to loot one of the boxes, not both) you can head to the shielded terminals around the south end of the scenario pictured above. Walk up and click them and after 1.5 seconds you should unceremoniously detonate the whole thing (I thought the EMP was just to shut off the shield?). Do this to all three and you can head to the nearby elevator to move on to your next scenario or the boss!

Kuat Scenario – Central Armory

Step #1 – Munitions Stockpiles

As soon as you get off the elevator and head into the central armory scenario, you’ll recieve a big grocery list of interactable objects to go find and break throughout the scenario. The first room you enter in the bottom left of the map is home to these Munitions Stockpiles like in the image above. Our map shows the locations of the boxes though they’re quite huge and hard to miss. This room is split into 5 sections – 4 storerooms with a munition in each and a cross-shaped walkway through them all and to new rooms with even more munitions spread through it. You only need 3 to move on, so you don’t really have to fight everything.

Step #2 – Bonus Crates

As you move through the armory you’ll also quickly run into these little crates. It’s purely for the bonus objective, and although we have them mapped out above, you do not need to do it if you’re aiming for speed over thoroughness. Keep in mind that when going for the Saboteur Bonus, you need 20 boxes. This scenario only contains 11 boxes, so this is one you’ll work on throughout the run, not just in the Armory area.

Step #3 – Warheads

The Northwestern top left room will be next if you’re moving clockwise through the armory. Here, you’ll have to look up for your next interactable – shooting the warheads off the parked missiles here. They’re all pretty easily found if you know to look up, but they’re also marked on our map.

Step #4 – Bombs and Rockets

Absolutely huge, can’t miss em. These bombs are in the northeastern room and theres an interactable one in every corner of the room. You just need three and the only possible confusion there could be is that theres more than one kind to choose from. They all work, so go nuts.

Step #5 – Elite Defender (Load Lifter BN-55 / AX-871)

The connecting hallway between the Bombs and Rocket room and the Missile Stockpile room will have the Elite Defender for those working on the bonus objectives.

Step #6 – Missile Stockpiles

Finally, (or step two if you ran counter clockwise around the armory) is the Missiles. Same as pretty much every other room, One in each corner and one somewhere in the middle to blow up. Note that for any interactable in this scenario even if you don’t walk by the enemies guarding it, blowing up certain interactables just pulls every nearby enemy to you.

Step #7 – Station Guardian Prototype

This last step can actually be done at any point during your shopping list of munitions to blow up, but it takes place in the western side-room off of the warhead room. Head on in and you’ll see this champion level droid to fight. There’s not much to fighting it – you can stun it, interrupt it, it has no special immunities, just a lot of health. After that, provided you’ve finished blowing everything up, you can take the elevator out of this scenario and onto next (or the boss fight) by leaving through the north side of the warhead room.

Kuat Scenario – Starship Assembly

Step #1 – Identify the Puzzle

As you enter the proper main room of Starship Assembly, you’ll see the main “Assembly Control Station” in the middle of the room glowing blue. To the left of it, just nearby, is this desk with a bunch of blinking datapads and little Access Keycard next to those. This main room will serve as a puzzle you (and your team if you have one) will have to solve to advance. To start though, you need all three Access Cards to be able to activate the Propulsion, Weapon, and Electronic Assembly Terminals. One card is in the image above, and the others will be hiding in other rooms to the East and West of here. They’re marked on the map.

Step #2 – Bonus Crates

As you move through the Assembly Bay you’ll also quickly run into these little crates. It’s purely for the bonus objective, and although we have them mapped out above, you do not need to do it if you’re aiming for speed over thoroughness. Keep in mind that when going for the Saboteur Bonus, you need 20 boxes. This scenario only contains 11 boxes, so this is one you’ll work on throughout the run, not just in the Starship Puzzle area.

Step #3 – Elite Defender (Load Lifter BN-55 / AX-871)

Corner of your main Puzzle Room will have the Elite Defender for those working on the bonus objectives.

It also has a chance of dropping a KDY Construction Kit.

Step #4 – Access Cards

Once you’ve cleared the side rooms of droids, you’ll find the two other access codes glowing blue and blinking with a different colored light discarded somewhere random in the room. Picking one up should send a group-wide alert message and let you head back to the main terminal to power up the assemblers!

Step #5 – Power Up and Solve

Once interacting with the main terminal, you’ll get these options above – simply unlock all three stations. “EXECUTE AUTOASSEMBLY TASK” is reserved for locking in your answer and solving the puzzle. Don’t press that until you’re sure you have the ship built correctly! Once the unlocks have happened, the three terminals behind this main one will light up and be interactable. So, how to solve the puzzle? The clue is in the 6 un-lootable datapads you can mouse-over and read on the table behind the main terminal. Each one will highlight certain parts not working and warning you to never load that part onto a ship under any circumstances, OR it will say what parts will work well together, OR it will tell you a part that just plain works fine! THAT is the one we care about. You could sit there and think about which part works with (and doesn’t work with) what until there’s only one possible logical combination of parts, or you can use the tried and true method that Kuat Solvers have been using for a decade now!

Find the datapad giving you a clue as to which part is SAFE. It’s been a great help to groups all this time.

Step #6 – Success or Failure

Once you’ve chosen your ship parts and locked it in with “EXECUTE AUTOASSEMBLY TASK” the bay windows will close up, the ship will be made and one of two things will happen: either you will have succeeded in making a shiny new ship and be allowed in the elevator to the next scenario or boss right away, OR you will have gotten it wrong, the ship will spectacularly detonate on itself, and you’ll have summoned six gold-level droid enemies standing between you and freedom from this puzzle. If that’s the case, no harm done, just kill your way to the elevator anyway and try again next time. The flashpoint is by no means failed, you just have to fight a few more droids.

Kuat Scenario – Holding Cells

Step #1 – Open the Outer Doors

As soon as you enter the Holding Cells area, head down the main hallway into the middle room. You’ll be given the task “Find a Way to Open the Outer Doors”. Pictured above, you must destroy the two “Security Power Panels” next to the terminals on the west and east sides of the main room. They’re marked on the main map.

Step #2 – Open the Outer Doors Continued

Once you get the popup “power to outer door security cut”, the large “Primary Control Console” in the middle of the room will activate for interaction. Using this will allow your group to backtrack into the west and east prisoner blocks to get started.

Step #3 – Bonus Crates

As you move through the Holding Cells you’ll also quickly run into these little crates. It’s purely for the bonus objective, and although we have them mapped out above, you do not need to do it if you’re aiming for speed over thoroughness. Keep in mind that when going for the Saboteur Bonus, you need 20 boxes. This scenario only contains 11 boxes, so this is one you’ll work on throughout the run, not just in the Prison area.

Step #4 – The Block Security Consoles

Arriving at the block initially, you’ll see this red little terminal overlooking the whole area. When you activate this, it enables the ability to go to the prisoner cells and open them up. If you clear out the room early and try fiddling with the cells it will tell you the security lockdown is preventing you. So don’t forget to use these as you get in!

Step #5 – Free the Prisoners

In each block is a prison cell with a blue force field holding in a prisoner. There are 10 active cells and 10 prisoners. We’ve marked each on the map and inverted the symbol to denote cells that are on the ground floor at the bottom of the block. The objective is to simply free them – they will follow you around but won’t help fight and they don’t have a ton of HP.

Step #6 – Elite Defender (Load Lifter BN-55 / AX-871)

The upper west walkway in the Western cell block will have the Elite Defender for those working on the bonus objectives. Load Lifter BN-55 doesn’t really have much going for it except a missile barrage attack that can be interrupted and a knockback that could get you in trouble with the guards in the pit if they weren’t cleared out yet.

Step #7 – One Way Out

Once you’ve got 10 prisoners out of their prisons, you’re good to head back all the way to the main hall and across the control room to the elevator in the north, leading you to the next scenario or boss, whichever comes next for your KDY run. If they haven’t died (enemies don’t really go out of their way to target them, but the large droids do have AoE attacks), all 10 prisoners will be following you out to the elevator. There are three achievements tied to rescuing prisoners “single-handedly”, that is, you were the one who opened their cell, and you were the one they were following. This is easy solo, but if you’re doing KDY in a group, make sure to communicate who wants the achievement and let them open the cells. “Breakout” is awarded for 1-4 prisoners. “Escaping Kuat Drive Yards” is awarded for 5-9. If you single handedly rescued all 10 and they all make it to the elevator with you, you’ll get “Leaving No One Behind” as well. This is very easy to do if you take the time to clear the scenario of enemies before going and letting anyone out. There’s no time limit and no ambushes of new enemies later.

Kuat Boss – Station Guardian One

One of the three possible boss fights you may get in Kuat (regardless of Imperial or Republic team) is Station Guardian One. With up-to-date gear this boss is fairly easy if not time-consuming, but each mechanic can be explained and resolved for anyone struggling. First, his only real standard attack beyond autoattacks is a red conal that shoots a bunch of bolts directly at one player:

This move doesn’t do a ton of damage on it’s own, but it can be empowered. More on that later. Pretty early into the fight he will start with “summon support”, which will bring in four of these little floating droids like the image below:

Left alone, these four support droids will simply shoot this white beam into Station Guardian One and channel this purple ability, giving him stacks of “Empowered”. This ticks relatively fast, and you can track the bosses Empowered stacks by targetting him and checking his buffs. It looks the exact same as the channeled ability icon the droid is using in the image above, and it stacks anywhere from 1 to 100 stacks.

While you’re working on dismantling his support droids, the station guardian will also start summoning a few of these Suppression Droids like in the image above. They will target the floor with a clearly outlined blue reticle, that will be replaced by this pulsing blue effect pool. Whenever you are caught standing in this blue pool, both your movement AND your attack rate are slowed massively. As more Suppression Droids are left alive, this problem compounds and makes you too slow at killing more droids to keep up, which will result in station guardian one getting 100 stacks of Empowered. When this happens:

Station Guardian One gets an additional move to cast once fully 100% Empowered by his droids. You’ll see it as this large rectangular AoE aimed right at a player. This is the only truly dangerous attack you need to be sure to run straight out of, as it does a ton of damage (compared to the rest of the bosses mechanics). The blast is huge and you can’t run away from it, you have to move left or right. Usually, with Suppression Droids up this can be really hard to do. If any blue spots on the floor are in your way, you probably won’t be able to move fast enough to dodge. So to Recap: Start hitting the boss, switch off to support droids when any exist to delay stacks of Empowered, kill any suppression droids as soon as they appear, and then switch back to getting some damage on the boss. This fight can last a very long time depending on how well you excel at target switching. NOTE for well-geared characters doing this on Veteran Difficulty: you can probably ignore all the support droids. The boss sitting at 100% Empowered isn’t a huge deal if you’re getting all the Suppression Droids and constantly moving out of the AoEs well enough. This makes the fight about twice as fast.

Kuat Boss – Lord Modo / Master Khoris

This boss represents the Force-Sensitive option of the three random bosses you may fight at the end of your Kuat run. Depending on republic or imperial you will either be fighting Lord Modo or Master Khoris but they essentially do the exact same things with maybe a different color/theme to the mechanic so the advice stays the same for Master Khoris, even if our pictures are of Mr. Modo.

First, there’s a lot of circles to dodge from “Force Crush”. They aren’t super killer on a character with up-to-date gear, but standing in them will force-choke you and keep you busy for a second or two, which can be annoying. They go out one at a time to a new player each time, but if you’re down a player or even solo expect a lot back-to-back.

Next, he will do a Force Shockwave and throw you a pretty far distance. This is usually followed up with a charge to his primary target which roots the player until he gets to you. If you ran ahead of all your force-crush circles earlier this may yeet you back into them. Depends on the timing of the skill.

This huge conal “Arcing Slash” is just a persistant cleave that follows the primary target no matter where they move, so keep the non-tank folks to the back of the boss to spare them some damage. With force shockwave jumbling everyone up, that may be tougher than it looks. Keep repositioning!

Once you get your boss down to 25%, he will put up this force-bubble and go into “battle trance”. This just means all his skills got better. He will start doing “Mass Crush” instead of “Force Crush”. Basically, you get stunned for a second no matter where you go and the red circles all pop up instantly instead of one at a time. You can still get out of the red circle after your initial stun is gone, though! If you don’t, you’ll be choked for twice as long in addition. Right after Mass Crush he now likes to spam floating scrap metal at his primary target’s head. This also stuns but doesn’t do a ton more damage than what he was doing before. Just burn him down and you’ll be done here in Kuat for the day.

Kuat Boss – Major Benes / Lieutenant Krupp

Major Benes (on Imperial-side) and Lieutenant Krupp (on Republic side) are the least common to show up of the three random bosses you may fight as the final boss of Kuat Drive Yards.

When these two bosses first came out, they used to be quite difficult, and you had to do the mechanics and control the smaller enemies that came out. (Requires playing on both factions.)

Lore

Kuat Drive Yards Codex

As Core Founders of the Galactic Republic, the people of Kuat aspired to provide a vital service to their newly formed government. To this end, they set out to build one of the galaxy’s largest starship manufacturing companies. Kuat Drive Yards provides Republic-aligned planets with short-range shuttles, orbital stations and interplanetary transports. More crucially, they supply the Republic Navy with many of the components of its fleets, from the smallest single-person starfighters to capital warships.

Kuat Drive Yards quickly grew from a small series of shipyards, docks and warehouses in orbit over Kuat into an interconnected ring of manufacturing excellence.

Assembly Clues

These are some, but not all, of the notes and clues you might get when working on the starship assembly puzzle.

As of Version 6, the Prototype Heavy Laser system has passed final testing. We have instructions to produce a prototype ship model incorporating the system as soon as possible.

Even with the latest advances found in version 6, the energy draw of the Prototype Heavy Laser is still dangerously unstable. It is not ready (or safe) for deployment yet.

Everyone: Celestial Industries has issued a recall for several batches of its “Powerhouse” drives due to defective manufacture. Our latest shipment is on the recall list. Do not mount these onto ships.

Everyone: Do not use the Rapid Recharge electronics package until further notice. As it turns out, it can be a little TOO rapid – in a “melt the primary capacitor housing” kind of way.

Everyone: Vokoff-Strood has issued a recall for several batches of its STAR-94 drives due to defective manufacture. Our latest shipment is on the recall list. Do not mount these onto ships.

For some reason we remain unable to mount the Czerka K-57CE propulsion system alongside the “Infiltrator” electronics package. No doubt some undocumented Czerka “Proprietary” nonsense is causing the interference.

I can hardly believe it myself, but Chief Aki’tale reports that the experimental “Infiltrator” electronics package is actually ready for test deployment. We need to fit it onto a test craft as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT attempt to mount both the Prototype Experimental Launcher and the Celestial Industries Powerhouse engine at the same time. Interference from the engines wreaks havoc with the launcher, leading to VERY UNFORTUNATE THINGS. We are STILL cleaning debris out of Hangar 09-B.

The experimental “Infiltrator” package has (horribly) failed testing (again). Substantial redesign is required before we can even begin to contemplate mounting this to a ship!

The latest revision of our Long Range Scout package is generating an extremely dangerous interference pattern in all of our secondary weapons systems, resulting in erratic missile behavior (up to and including warheads arming while still in the launcher). Until further notice do not mount a Long Range Scout package alongside ANY secondary weapons systems.

To date we’ve been unable to stably mount the Vokoff-Strood STAR-94 engine with any of our prototype weapons systems. Until further notice, do not mount Vokoff-Strood STAR-94’s with any weapons package besides the Merr-Sonn LCL-1 Light Laser.

Unsurprisingly, we have found additional undocumented “behaviors” with the Czerka K-57CE engine that result in catastrophic failure under the hefty power draw of our Prototype Heavy Laser. Do not mount these two systems concurrently.

WARNING: A serious flaw was introduced into Version 4 of the Prototype Launcher that can cause ammunition detonation. DO NOT MOUNT THIS ONTO A SHIP.

With Version 4 we have finally worked out the power cycling issues that were plaguing the Prototype Experiemental Launcher! We are good to head to test production! The chief wants to see this mounted onto a ship design at once!

Kuat Drive Yards (KDY) is a Flashpoint in Star Wars: The Old Republic that is meant to be run with a group of multiple level 55+ players, but can be…

[65,155

post-47522","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-flashpoints
["GET
