They all eventually return, in some form or another, but their quests or return points can sometimes take a very long time to get to in the story from the point that you lose them. To help players get their companion back quicker, or at least get them before they return in the story, the developers had created the Companion Locator Terminal (sometimes called the Companion Return Terminal by players) which would allow you to re-summon your missing companions so you could use them for combat or crafting, even if they hadn’t returned in the story yet – or if you had made choices that made it impossible for them to return in the future. This terminal was tucked away in a little room on the Odessan base, which you could only access after finishing Chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire, and was not very intuitive to use.

Companions & Contact Window

An improved solution to the Companion Locator Terminal has been added in 7.9.
