Update: You no longer need artifact authorization for low-level gear as of Update 7.7.1! Yay! <\/em>Guide up-to-date for Update 7.9.<\/strong><\/p>\n The best way to get gear at a low level is simply to play and complete quests, as most quests including your Class Story will drop gear for you.<\/p>\n You can buy upgrades for your gear every five levels or so on the Fleet in the Supplies section. You will want to buy a full modifiable set of gear, offhand and mainhand weapon from the Adaptive Vendor, then set a modification in every empty slot of that Adaptive gear. At the time of making this, there are modifications available for sale at level 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30, 34, 38, 42, 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, and 70 if you need them. You can modify moddable gear by CTRL+RIGHT CLICKING the item then dragging the modifications into it. If you are not sure which pieces to buy, get the red-colored ones for easiness sake.<\/p>\n Adaptive Vendor<\/strong><\/p>\n Level 10-70 Modifications Vendors<\/strong><\/p>\n Relics, Implants or Earpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n If you are missing your Relics, Implants or Earpiece, you can easily get a full set of level 10 ones by picking up the Introduction to PvP quest from the blue terminal in the Combat Training section of the Fleet, then playing a single PvP match. Unfortunately these do not scale up and are just level 10 items, but they’re better than nothing and easy to get!<\/p>\n The other main place to get Relics, Implants or Earpieces, if you haven’t already gotten them as a lucky drop, is to buy them on the GTN from other players. The easiest place to find a GTN is in the Galactic Trade Market section of the Fleet. Use the filters to choose “Category: Accessories” and then “SubCategory” as either Relic, Earpiece or Tactical, and put your current level as the “Required Level” high point. From there you can sort by Unit price, and try and find something in your budget and near to your level – the GTN is unfortunately highly inflated. If you have a friend who crafts, they may also be able to craft you some relics, implants or earpieces for your level.<\/p>\n At level 15 or higher, you’ve got two great ways to earn free, randomized gear too.<\/p>\n Heroics:<\/strong> Any heroic quest you run on any planet will give you two randomized pieces of gear appropriate for your level – but you only have a one in seven chance of it being a relic. You can easily access heroics by clicking the icon of “three little people” near your minimap to open the Activities panel, click the Solo tab at the top, and choose a planet to run heroics on.<\/p>\n Conquest:<\/strong> Once per week you can complete conquest on your character to earn 5 pieces of randomized gear appropriate for your level. To complete a conquest, you need to complete enough of the current week’s conquest objectives to reach 100,000 conquest points – you can see your current points and the current objectives in the Conquest window, which can be found in your mission logs tabs. Conquest resets every Tuesday, so you can also try to get a relic in your box of conquest gear next week. Conquest Guide<\/a><\/p>\n We have an entire list dedicated to Level 60 gear, as it’s the free-to-play max level. Free-to-Play Gearing Tips<\/a><\/p>\n I don’t have any specific tips for level 65, but you can always easily get green modifications from the Fleet vendors and put them in Adaptive gear.<\/p>\n Adaptive Vendor<\/strong><\/p>\n Level 10-70 Modifications Vendors<\/strong><\/p>\n For your Relics, Implants or Earpieces, if you haven’t already gotten them as a lucky drop, is to buy them on the GTN from other players. These pieces cost 20,000 credits each an you can get every piece you need form this vendor including your relics, earpiece and implants.<\/p>\n For some extra credits, you can also upgrade this gear at the nearby Masterwork vendor. Personally I wouldn’t worry about spending the extra credits unless<\/em> you are preferred and are stuck at level 70 – this will wind up being the best gear in the game you can get.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There is technically some level 70 modifications from the Supplies section of the fleet but these have worse stats and are more expensive than the Ossus gear pieces.<\/p>\n There are some purple Traitor Among the Chiss augments available at level 70<\/a>, though I do not know if they will actually help you in combat due to the way level sync works.<\/p>\n Tacticals<\/strong><\/p>\n At Level 75 you can start equipping Tacticals<\/a>, a type of item that goes in a new specific slot on your gear sheet. They are expensive at 3,000 Tech Fragments and 1 million credits,\u00a0<\/strong>so feel free to skip working on earning one until you reach level 80.<\/p>\n At level 75+, you can start getting Tech Fragments from completing Conquest<\/a>, but there are not many other ways to get them on a low-level character compared to earning Tech Fragments on a max-level character<\/a>.<\/p>\n Spoils of War – Level 75<\/strong><\/p>\n The Spoils of War Vendor in Supplies section of Fleet for Level 75 gear, it costs 325-450 Tech Fragments per piece.<\/p>\n At level 75+, you can start getting Tech Fragments from completing Conquest<\/a>, but there are not many other ways to get them on a low-level character compared to earning Tech Fragments on a max-level character<\/a>.<\/p>\n The other way you might get Tech Fragments is by deconstructing other pieces of level 75 gear you come across that you don’t need, like green-bordered or blue-bordered versions of items you already have.<\/p>\n It’s an awkward situation – the best level 75 gear you can get is hard to get at level 75 – this happened when level 80 became the new max level, and mostly only level 80 quests reward Tech Fragments now.<\/p>\n You’ll also be able to pick up very basic level 75 gear from flashpoints bosses while in the level 75-79 range. Heroics unfortunately reward cosmetic gear rather than useful gear at this point.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Above: my sad mish-mash of level 70 and 75 gear because that’s all I could get.<\/em><\/p>\n Ossus Vendors – Level 70<\/strong><\/p>\n If you don’t have tech fragments yet, you can get Level 70 gear from a vendor on Ossus for Credits – there’s no way to buy level 75 gear for credits.<\/p>\n There are some blue level 73 and purple level 75 craftable augments available<\/a> for level 75 players, though I do not know if they will actually help you in combat due to the way level sync works.<\/p>\n The current max-level in 2022 is level 80.
