Cyborgs are very similar to humans in the Old Republic except they have received cybernetic implants that heighten their senses or give them extra-human capabilities. The character creator only allows you to create human-like Cyborgs, though non-human cybernetic owners exist in the galaxy. The implants offer no advantage in-game, they are purely cosmetic.<\/p>\n

In the decades since the Great War, humans in both the Republic and Empire have begun using cybernetics to heal wounds or enhance performance. Cyborgs are now a common sight, as life-sustaining implants, vision-augment eyes, cybernetic exo-skeletons, and countless other technological upgrades allow humans to survive near-fatal injuries and prepare their bodies for the next galactic war.<\/p>\n

Cyborg Classes<\/h2>\n

You can play any type of character as a Cyborg, as species are not restricted to certain Origin Stories or Combat Styles<\/strong> in Star Wars: The Old Republic.<\/p>\n

Cyborgs are available to all players.<\/strong> No unlock or subscription is required to make a Cyborg character.<\/p>\n

Cybernetic Unlocks<\/h3>\n

However, by default, not all cybernetic options are available for every class or origin story. Each class a different set that they can choose from – for example, the Agent gets the sleek black and red implants, while the Smuggler gets the rusted brown and aqua implants. You can cause all options to become available for all classes by unlocking the Cyborg species.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Unlock Option #1: All players<\/b> can unlock all the cybernetic options for all classes by purchasing the item Legacy Species Unlock: Cyborg<\/b> from the Cartel Market with Cartel Coins or from the GTN with credits. The Cartel Market sells this unlock for 600 Cartel Coins, the price and availability on the GTN will change day to day and per server, but it is likely very expensive. This unlock is per-server, not account-wide, and requires that you have an existing character of any type on that server who has reached level 10 and created a Legacy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Unlock Option #2: <\/b>All players<\/strong> can play a\u00a0 Cyborg of any type and then level them to level 50, which will automatically unlock all the Cyborg options for all future characters. This unlock is per-server, not account-wide.<\/p>\n

Unl<\/b>ock Option #3: <\/b>Subscribers can also unlock Cyborgs for all Origin Stories by spending 1.5 million credits as part of the Legacy system, after they have reached level 10 (Free-to-play and Preferred can technically too, but they have their credits capped at 1 million credits). This unlock is per-server, not account-wide.<\/p>\n

Jedi Knight<\/strong><\/p>\n

A symbol of hope in dark times, the Jedi Knight stands for the legacy of the Jedi Order, protecting the Republic and keeping the peace across the galaxy.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Jedi Knight is never shies from battle, or from protecting those in their care, and this sometimes leads to physical damage that can not be healed even with the Force. Well-known Jedi Knight cyborgs include Luke Skywalker with his metal hand, and Jedi Arn Peralun who wounded severely by artillery fire, who had eighty percent of his body replaced when he was unable to access traditional Kolto medicines. A pro-active Jedi Knight may even receive enhancements to help them in battle or on missions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Jedi Consular<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jedi Consulars channel the power of the Force for strength in combat and wisdom in diplomacy. Jedi Consulars always seek to grow their knowledge.<\/em><\/p>\n

While it would be less common to see a Jedi Consular with cybernetics than a Jedi Knight, Jedi Consulars are powerful force users and often enter the battlefield during dire times, and may need cybernetic replacements just as much as their counterparts. As Consulars are often diplomats, they may also choose to get cybernetics that enhance their senses to aid in diplomatic missions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Trooper<\/strong><\/p>\n

Troopers are the embodiment of the Republic military\u2019s highest aspirations \u2013 the most advanced fighting force in the galaxy.<\/em><\/p>\n

As the vanguard of all battles fought by the Republic, it’s very common to see Republic soldiers with cybernetics, either received after being wounded, or taken on as an enhancement in battle. Others may have received them as part of their training, or during physical experimentation by the military, rather than by personal choice. Early on in the Trooper story, you will meet Needles, a medic with heavy cybernetics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Smuggler<\/strong><\/p>\n

Above all else, Smugglers make their own destinies. Smugglers require fast reflexes, fast wits and a fast draw with a blaster.<\/em><\/p>\n

Smugglers make their own luck – and a set of cybernetics is one great way to load the die. Smugglers could have enhancements that help them in a firefight, see through walls, hack the hangar doors, or better perceive what’s going on in a business deal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sith Warrior<\/strong><\/p>\n

Above all else, Smugglers make their own destinies. Smugglers require fast reflexes, fast wits and a fast draw with a blaster.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Sith Warrior is very likely to have cybernetics, as Sith are not at all afraid to undergo the pain of surgery to receive the boon of increased power, now do they shy away from battle.\u00a0 Darth Skotia, a Sith, had more than half of his natural appendages and organs replaced with cybernetic machinery, including his right eye and many neural transmitters. The most famous Sith in Star Wars history, Darth Vader, was also a cyborg through both his hands and extensive reconstructive surgery. Darth Malak, a Sith close to Darth Revan, also had a cybernetic jaw that produced a modified voice and cover for his missing jaw that had been shorn off by a lightsaber blow. Darth Maul, after being cut in two, regained the ability to walk through the use of cybernetic legs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sith\u00a0<\/strong>Inquisitor<\/b><\/p>\n

Dark secrets are the lifeblood of the Sith Inquisitor. The Inquisitor experiments with forbidden powers in order to excel and seize authority.<\/em><\/p>\n

Although the Sith Inquisitor is more likely to pursue Sith Alchemy and the dark mysteries of the Force, there is an intersection where the Force and Science collide that the Inquisitor may choose to take advantage of. a Sith named Malora made a name for herself through her mastery of a combination of Sith alchemy and genetic engineering; in particular, a technique for regenerating damaged tissue and organs more quickly than even bacta or kolto. By cautiously offering “treatments” to only the most powerful and influential Sith on Dromund Kaas, Malora rose to prominence and gained the resources necessary to advance her experimentation ever further. She has since made extensive modifications to her own body, the purposes of which she has revealed to no one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Bounty Hunter<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u2019s never a question if a Bounty Hunter will find you\u2026 only when. Both infamous and anonymous at the same time, Bounty Hunters are far more than mercenaries for hire.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Bounty Hunter needs every bit of help they can get when chasing down a target. Whether its to heighten their senses, or give them a boost in subduing a target, cybernetics are mainstream in the bounty hunting world. In your very first story as a Bounty Hunter, you will met Mako, a young freelance slicer skilled in cybernetics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Imperial Agent<\/b><\/p>\n

Imperial Agents must master the arts of infiltration, seduction and assassination to carry out the most dangerous and sensitive Imperial assignments.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Imperial Agent has the least agency of all the classes as they are a part of Imperial Intelligence – some operatives have been so modified and conditioned from birth that they are walking cognitive machines. It would not be at all surprising to see highly enhanced cybernetic operatives – whether they are there to increase the operative’s skills, or to keep better control of their actions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Appearance<\/h2>\n

Cyborgs look exactly like humans and have all the same visual traits including skin colors and hair styles. In addition, they have a huge range of Cyborg options available – there are only so many styles, but there are many options about where they are placed and how many are visible. Below is a small selection of the placements you can have for your cybernetics – there are over 50 combinations available.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to the built-in character creator cybernetics, you can also find armors in-game<\/a> that mimic cybernetics, replacing your hands, legs, or even entire head.<\/p>\n

As Cyborg fall to the dark side, they have the option to turn on Dark Side Corruption<\/strong>, where they lose pigment in the skin, their veins become more visible and their eyes turn orange – if they have eyes.<\/p>\n

Cyborg Naming<\/h2>\n

You can choose any name you want for your Cyborg character, there really is no conventions for cyborgs much like there is no traditions for naming humans. A majority of cyborgs already have names before they get their implants. Cyborgs often go by nicknames, especially if they receive their implants as a way to enhance their skills – for example, Needles,<\/strong> a cyborg Republic Medic, likely took his nickname due to his skill in surgery, with his implants likely aiding him in his medical duties.<\/p>\n

Alien Cyborgs<\/h3>\n

Although a majority of the cyborgs you meet in Star Wars: The Old Republic are human, and you are only able to create human cyborgs in the character creator, aliens are also able to implant themselves with cybernetics. During one of the Bounty Contract Week quests on Dromund Kaas, your questgiver is a Chiss Cyborg, one of the few alien cyborgs visible in the game, and Darth Malu is a popular example of a non-human cyborg in more well-known Star Wars media.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Cyborg Lore<\/h2>\n

Unlike most species, Cyborgs do not have a lot of lore related to them, as they are technically just humans with some electronic bits slapped on. However there are a few interesting tidbits and quests related to cybernetics owners and creators.<\/p>\n

Sith Cybernetics<\/h3>\n

To the Sith, life is conflict. All living things struggle against the bonds that restrict them, and grow stronger for it. To refuse the inevitability of death, and hold on to one’s hard-earned power forever, is a proposition many Sith have found impossible to resist. Over the years, Sith have employed cybernetics, dark sciences, and other unsavory techniques in pursuit of eternal life.<\/p>\n

Darth Malora sits on the Dark Council of the Sith Empire, where she oversees the sphere of Scientific Advancement. Initially held back from opportunities by her first master, Lord Renning, Malora eventually managed to escape his ‘mentorship’ and make a name for herself through her mastery of a combination of Sith alchemy and genetic engineering; in particular, a technique for regenerating damaged tissue and organs more quickly than even bacta or kolto. Cyber Neutralizer<\/h3>\n

The device? Oh, you mean the neutralizer, the cyber neutralizer. My finest work yet–though I don’t quite see what the use of it is. The neutralizer works by hijacking the cyber neural center, causing it to fire impulses so rapidly it overloads. Real cutting-edge tech, and real expensive to develop. It’ll work like a charm on a droid, but it’s a one-off and too expensive for mass production. I don’t know how useful it actually is. Lord Zash commissioned this weapon against cyborgs–thing is, most cyborgs are only ten percent machine. You’d need someone at least fifty percent machine for the neutralizer to do any real damage. If you want it, take it. It’s only a prototype, but I guess it’ll work if there’s one droid you really want to bash.<\/p>\n

Grathan’s cybernetics researchers–a sadistic bunch of scum–developed cyborg body parts that regenerate. The technology will revolutionize warfare. It’s worth a fortune. I have a buyer looking to manufacture a cyborg army. You’ll get sixty percent of my profits if you steal the cybernetic researchers’ files. Grathan protects his computers with lethal security forces–war droids, cyborgs, even genetically engineered weapons. Expect heavy resistance. Destroy this place to your heart’s content. Immortal Implants<\/h3>\n

The implants they’re using – they’re made from pieces of the Star Forge. The Star Forge was a Force-imbued, self-sustaining shipyard. Rakatan. It was destroyed centuries ago, but the Revanites have recovered some of the wreckage. Its technology makes the soldiers nearly immortal. Seizes their minds as well, placing them under the Revanites’ full control.<\/p>\n

Revan destroyed the Star Forge three hundred years ago. The pieces of debris are still active, though. They self-repair and even self-replicate under the right circumstances. With that technology grafted to their bodies, the Revanites became much harder to stop.<\/p>\n
